Looks fab Dave, I just finishe rescribing the boly fuselage and will now start scratching most of the interior.  Amazingly there is an ip, floor seat and bulkhead which I may be able to use.  I also bought the squadron vacform canopy for it and the difference between it and the kit parts is like night and day!Shock [:O].  With this build progressing, it has stalled my hayabusa for the Japanese GB and I just started on my FW190-D9 for the BoG GB so things will probably slow down a bit.  I'll try to remember to get pics of the interior before I close it up.Wink [;)]

Dave  I checked out the kit no crewSad [:(]  to bad the cockpit is rather nice  I may have to scrounge around my sparebits box for pilots/gunners etc.  I'm hoping to go to the aviation museum in Ottawa when I go to my Mum's for xmas or Jan & take some referance pics of the Lanc that's there.

Marc, if you're looking for ref pics of a Lancaster, I was at the Nanton Lancaster museum this last summer and took a bunch of photos.  I posted them on my photobucket page at: http://photobucket.com/albums/v308/jboutin/  the pass word is 'models'.  I also have some other ref pics of a Boly from the Nanton Museum and some pics of a Triplane and Doodlebug/buzz bomb from the Calgary Aerospace Museum.

NOt much progress here either, I had to put in some extra hours on the weekend at work and will likely have to put some in tis weekend too. On top of that, all the holiday festivities and the three modeling projects I have on the go I also started building my workshop in the garage.

Someone stop me, I'm out of control!!!!!!

Well I guess I'll join the club of not much done this weekend.  Work is keeping me busy at least a half dozen calls this past weekend plus doing the trim & finishing around the new windows I had installed before the nasty cold that's hitting Jay's neck of the woods makes it here.  I'm also trying to build a spray booth so I can paint and move my build forward, lot's of fun.

dave were not going to stop you, we like you out of controlEvil [}:)]

My boly is going to be stalled for a bit as this weekend is supposed to be in the + temperatures Big Smile [:D] so I'm going to try to get my Ki-43 Hayabusa ready for some future so I can get my decals on and seal them. Tongue [:P] I have to airbrush in spurts during the winter Sad [:(] as I don't want to spray in  the house (I don't have a vented spray booth) and I also don't want my pregnant wife around all the fumes.  I know acrylics are 'low odor/vapour' but it is still there.

The nice thing about Calgary is we get chinooks every two or three weeks that melt everything and we get plus temps for a few days.  We don't have long protracted periods of below freezing temps.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Jay Your right the chinooks would help in giving you some opportunities to airbrush in your garage.  I don't think I could handle the temperature swings you folks get out there.  I'm now trying to figure out where to vent once the booth is built.

Jay, that is very considerate of you to keep the fumes out of the house. It has been very cold around here lately so I have not done any spraying either. I tried doing a little spraying on the cockpit for the Me 262 in the laundry room and promptly lost the control stick. I can't find it any where. :( Besides that I've got so many house projects on the go right now that I just haven't had the time.

On a sadder note, I recieved word from my Mother today that my Uncle passed away this morning. The one that flew with 420 Squadron. He had been in the hospital for some time and has not had good health for many years so it was not a surprise. Still, he will be missed and I am really looking forward to doing his Lancaster next year.

Dave,

Sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. Perhaps my late mother helped build that Lancaster he flew in WWII. She built Lancs at Avro in Malton ON.

If you really need some airbrushing time, I have a fully vented spraybooth, and a spanking new compressor far enough away that you can't really hear it...

Bill

So long folks!

Dave I'm sorry to hear of your uncles passing , my condolences to you and your familly.  I suspect our motivation will be the same for building our Lancasters.

If I'm good and get all my chores and Xmas shopping doneWink [;)] I should get some time to rig my painting area and get moving on the Hurricane.

Sorry to hear about your Uncle Dave.  I know you will honour him by building the Lanc he flew in.

Whoo hoo! it is going to be in the plus temps for the next four days! so if I work as efficiently as I can (yeah right), I might be able to finish the Ki-43 hayabusa this weekend and that means more time for the Boly and Fw-190D9 (BoG GB).  Tongue [:P]

I decided to add a tiny little bit of AM to the boly.  I really liked the resin engines on my Beaufighter so I thought I would try a resin bucket seat and that is all the extra's Im getting besides sratching the nose, cockpit and gunturret...Whistling [:-^]Wink [;)]

I am impressed with the detail on the seats so I'm getting one for the Fw-190 too but have to wait for that one, the LHS was all out, the guy had sold the last one the day before.

Jay Enjoy the break in weather while it lasts.  The yukky stuff is coming my way tomorrowDisapprove [V]

"A tiny little bit of AM stuff" I did'nt think it was possible to just add a tiny little bitSmile [:)] It starts with one seat and the next thing you know it's engines, gears etc... it's all down hill from there.  Have fun.

Thanks everyone for your kind words regarding my Uncle.

Sure has been quiet in the GB section lately. Must be the Christmas madness season. No modeling for me lately, spent the day getting the Christmas tree, putting up the outdoor lights (Ya I know I'm way behind) aaaannnnd... finally built my work bench in the garage with a whole buncha shelves. Its been a very full day. Tomorrow I get to pull all my models out of storage (insert big grin smiley here). I'll post some pics but I have to do it from work so you won't see them until Monday.

cheers!

Looks like home Dave!  say is that a little space heater?  I should get one for my garage!  That isn't all the models you have is it?  If I ever get out to Kelowna/Vernon area, I'll have to drop in.

Dave That's a real nice setup you have there.  Glad to hear you got your lights up and you did'nt kill yourself in the process.  I almost slid of the roof installing mine (last time I do that with 4 cm of snow on the roof).  I told my wife next year get used to seeing santa in july Smile [:)].

Jay:  Yep, that's a space heater.  The temps around here hover just below freezing and the heater takes enough of the chill off that it's comfortable (with a sweater on).  Just must make sure to turn it off before spraying (KaBoom!!!).  Eventually I want to close the end of the garage off to make a storage area so there will be a smaller area to keep warm.  Anyway, this is what I call a 'temporary' solution until the kids grow up and move out (6-8 years).  Yes that is most of my models, the boxes on the left still have most of my 1/700 scale ships in them.  Still trying to sort out what is going to go where and many of them need repair after the move.  If you do come by this way you are more than welcome to drop in and I'd love to do the same some day.  Thumbs Up [tup]

Bear:  I am fortunate that my house is a two story with a lower roof line over the garage and front entry that I can get at easily with a small step ladder.  I'm not brave enough to try putting lights on the upper roof.  Never mind Santa.  Laugh [(-D]

Dave Luky you and you don't have to worry about snow. The snow came early this year & caught me by surprise.  Shurly you jest "a 'temporary' solution until the kids grow up and move out (6-8 years)." They'll never leaveEvil [}:)].  My step son's have been in and out a couple of months here a month there, just when you think you've made it "There baaaack!!!"Big Smile [:D].  Enjoy your new work area.

Actually we do have a couple of inches of snow here.  I'm in the interior, not the coast.  I know what you mean about kids never leaving, my poor parents had to leave the province to get a house to themselves.  I have 7 sibblings and it was a revolving door for a long time so I have no illusions about being "kid free".  All I'm hoping for is at least one of them being gone at any given time and freeing up the room in the basement... and hoping my wife doesn't have plans for the whole room for her stuff.  Laugh [(-D]

Sorry Marc, no idea about the colour of the bofors AA guns.

Absolutely zippo progress on the Boly, the Ki-43 is finally finished and I just have to take some pics and post'em.

Also, I should appologize to Jules, I had actually forgotten to add you to the front page.Sign - Oops [#oops]  You are there now and you get special status as I can't get your name up next to the others, so you have to kinda hang out below by yourself...Wink [;)] So hows the Spit Mk.II coming?

As for snow,  what snow?  the chinook we had over the weekend has melted 99% of itSad [:(].  I like to have snow for Christmas but alas, Calgary's curse is more often than not having a brown Christmas...stupid chinooks...Winter isn't the same when you have -20C weather and absolutley no snow on the ground, it just feels...wrong!

Another great tool that costs just pennies is coffee filters. They're great for spills, brush cleaning and getting finger oil off the surface of the model before paint.
