Jay You want snow, I've got some to spare.  Were supposed to get 30+ cm of the white stuff as it stands it took me 1 Hrs to get into work it usualy takes 25 Min.  Have yourself a great day.

I'm looking forward to my Xmas vacation I should be able to get some painting done and clear up the bench for a new project

OK a small drama, on second thoughts a major drama, Thanks to my Wife and her cleaning habits MY Spitfire no longer exists......Yep she stacked my books on top of the open model box and snap, the tail section is totalled.....

But all is not lost i just happen to have a Roden SE5A with Billy Bishops markings so i'll hook into that.....

Your arrow is looking real nice Anthony Oh yeah i can't help you with the canopy, i've never come across a molded on canopy before, strikes me as kinda odd why a manufacturer would mold it on.....What brand is it again

Dave Yeah mate i'm actually not that shattered about the Spitfires demise cause the SE5A is gonna look sick, and in Billy Bishops markings as well, i mean 72 kills that speaks for itself, only eight behind the Baron Manfred.....

I am a little concerned about the timeframe though what with all the rigging and i also will be adding some PE guns from Toms Modelworks so i'd better get cracking on it.....

BTW i'll post up a pic of the Spit so ya'll can see the damage.....

Anthony  Nice paint job It's looking good As far as your canopy goes I remember splitting the wind screen from the main body using a jewlers saw (very slowly and lots of patience) and it came appart ok that was a very long time ago.  It will depend on how rigid the canopy is thats my 2 cents also what kind of white are you using on your build? 

Jules thats too bad about the Spit had you put alot of work into it before it's untimely demise.

Nice looking Arrow so far Anthony.  Not sure about openning the canopy, maybe a micro saw?

Jules, sorry to hear about the spitfire.  That sucks but the SE5a will be very cool, you'll have to find something else for the Allied Aces GB though.

Anthony, the painting looks great.  Very nice build so far.  I build most of my aircraft with closed canopies, but if you want it open a vac form replacement would be the best bet.  Not sure if an AM vac is avail for the Arrow, but if one is it would be worth it.

Yeah Bear i did spend quite a lot of time on the Spit not to mention the money i spent on Eduard masks and eagle stike decals but i have the tamiya MK 5 Spit in the stash so all the goodies can be used on that including the decals, The Canadian MK 5 on the decal sheet has invasion stripes and i don't think i'll have enough time to do that so onward to the SE5A, the MK 5 will have to wait until the next Canadian GB.....That is of course if Jay is planning on making it an annual affair......

Jules I'm glad to hear you can recycle some of your bits and that all is not lost.  I'm with you I already have my build (CC-123 Otter) for the next Canadian GB If it happens "Hint, Hint"  Have fun with the SE5A.

Well, I hope to make it an annual thing, I have about 20 possible ideas for builds, There is an IMPS Canada decal sheet I want with some aces on it.  From it I really want to do one of George Buerling's Malta Spitfires and James Edwards' N.Africa P-40. 

Not to mention some other Canadian Heroes on my list:

Ken Boomer's Aluetian P-40, only Canadian victory over a Japanese A/C in the Aluetians (Rufe).

Willie McKnight's Hurricane. He's a Calgarian don't ya know!

Douglas Hall's P-51A (7 victories with 4 in one day!)

Russ Bannock's Mosquito, supposedly there is a mosquito in Edmonton with his markings.

Bert Madill's P-47 (CBI).  He claims he never shot anyone down but was given a single victory as several american bomber crew said they saw him shoot one down.

and Lindsey's F-86 Sabre from Korea (2 victories over Migs there), yes the same Doug Lindsey I am going to do for the Allied Aces GB. I'm not much af a jet person but I really like to looks of the Sabre, there's just something about it.

This is just to name a few on my list.  This is very tentative as I'm not sure how the rest of 2006 will pan out with my wife being pregnant and all.  I'm glad there are some who are interested already! 

Things are finally settling down a little bit (the lull before the storm that is Christmas I'm sure) so I was able to get some time in on the Sunderland.  Still a long way to go though before I can even close it up but it felt good to get some progress happening.

As for next year, if I haven't started the Lancaster by then I will do that so the pressure is on Jay!!!  Besides, Mom will be so busy bonding with the baby that your going to feel quite neglected for awhile!  (ya right!)

Dave, I have no doubt I'll be kept busy, but Daddy needs some alone time too right?

But with that being said, if there is a reason a cannot do the Canadian GB next year, would you be willing to host it or maybe Marc (superbear)?  Dave, you will have the highly successful BoA GB under your belt by then so...maybe? 

I need to get going on my Boly, I haven't done anything for two weeks and I feel bad.

We'll cross that bridge when we get to it Jay I'm just keeping my head above water at the moment.  Did I say something about a lull in my last post?  It was fun while it lasted, its almost 9pm and I am still at work.  Stupid deadlines!!!  Anyway, I "WILL" have the week off between Christmas and New Years so looking forward to some down time.  Of course my wife's definition of down time may have to be adjusted.

On a good note I stopped by the mall to run some erands and stuck my head inside the Lewiscraft store and discovered that their model kits were on sale.  They generally only carry 1/72 Academy kits (which I love) so I picked up another Me 163 Komet kit and a F6F Hellcat for $7.00 each.    They have a Me 109 G-14 that I might have to go back for too.  Awesome, Christmas presents from me to me!   See what you started Bear!  And by the way Bear, I think I'm in the clear, the Lancaster is wrapped up and under the tree so I won't have to wait until my aniversary in June.

Dave I saw that too, I was shopping last night for my wife and stopped in Lewiscraft and saw their 1:72 kits for 7$, unfortuantely, the one in the mall close to my work had only three kits, all of them F-4U Corsairs and I already got a me to me Christmas gift! (Haseagwa Fw190-D9 for 14$!)

Besides, I know I'll be getting some Christmas money...can we say Academy PBY5a and Hobbycraft British Corsair?, maybe even a Spitfire MkIXc?

Welcome Curtis Remington, I'll add you to the front but be warned, we have just over 1 months left!  better get on it!

Dave  I'm glad to hear you won't have to wait to get your Lanc. As for the Me to Me you gotta love it I just picked up a spit Mk Vb &  Mk IX last night so let see one Lancaster, two Spitfires under the ME to ME umberella sofar.  I won't push it further or I may not see next year my wife has a sense of humour but...

Jay Let's see what next year brings however I'm more than willing to help out.  I'm not shure if I'm ready to host a GB all by my lonesome

I hope to start painting next week.
