Yeah that did get a bit too dirty. Instead of washing with water, maybe you can drybrush with white to cover some of that. Remember to also think of where this is usually used. Desert type landscapew unless this was stationed on the Golan Heights. The dirt part on the floor should be a light sand to reflect guys tracking in sand as they enter and exit.. Also, you can lightly drybrush a bit of silver to show where paint had been scuffed off the floor by boots.

YG, you are doing very well. You definitely have what it takes to be a better modeler than me. Keep up the great work and I'll be looking forward to seeing more pics of this getting built.

Hey its good to be back.  My brother passed away a few months ago.  Now I am back and it looks like the build is extended.  Nice.  My mirage is done,  the canopy damage was minimized to some degree.  I bought another mirage lllCJ.  Not sure if that is what I am going build next.  Since we have until Oct I may convert another model.  If that is permitted?

Anything Israeli.

My condolences to you and your family.

I have a new book on the Mirage.

"Mirage III: Mirage 5, 50 and derivatives From 1955 to 2000"

As far as I can tell it's a very good book w/ plenty of information and drwings and pictures and whatnots. Publishe in July 2004 so its pretty recent if you have any questions please dont hesitate to ask.

looks great so far man! you actually get some of an interior on this one eh? Cool. Duke is right with it though silver would be too bright, take a pencil and rub it lightly over the grating, you'll get a nicely worn down metal. Just think about the money bars on the play ground at the park! I'll post some pics of my Merkava IV. It's taking forever, but I just got my first commission to build two kits for someone! I haven't started them yet (merk IV and M109 doher) but the planning a pricing has distracted me from building, plus it's such a complex kit it isn't funny! All I have left is the one run of side skirts and the ball and chains!

Osher it was a mix of IDF sand and Green drab from Model Master Acrylics, with a wash of raw umber. I couldn't tell you the mix ratios to save my life as I like all my IDF stuff to look realistic, meaning different for each one. Each model gets a different mix!

I finally got the Legend turret for the Merk III D, the AEF one was not much different other than the fact that it fell off the hull and just flew into pieces when it hit the tile! so much for a free kit! Once I get the Merk IV done (alot of inspiration on TV lately!) I'll start up on that one!

Incase you missed it in the armour forum, here's another contribution to the IDF GB...

Here is my latest creation! It is Legend's Merkava IV. After two months of construction, and one week of painting, it's finished! I went for a recent pic that I saw on Yahoo news of a Merk IV that was patrolling the Lebanese border, even the decals match the tank! Painted with Model Master mixtures and weathered with Bragdon pigments, here she is...

Nicely done tanker. I absolutely love the weathering.

As for me. I haven't done anything except paint over the mud with white.

Hi folks, mind if I hop into this GB belatedly?  I've just picked my Revell 1:72 Merkava III after around three years of it sitting in a drawer with just a lower hull and road wheels assembled.

In recent days I broke out the sprue cutter and paints and got busy again!

Here it is with a fresh base coat, and a touch of shading and highlighting.  Details, decals, and dust to follow! Big Smile [:D]

How was the Revell Merkava to build?  I've also got one in my stash waiting for building.

Speaking for myself, it was a breeze! I had no fit problems, or any flash at all. My most 'difficult' part was removing the finely molded ball and chain armor from the sprue before hanging it under the turret bustle. Other than that, I had a blast building this one.

Looks like another kit going from the medium-term stash to the short-term stash...

osher, sorry to be late in replying - yes, it's a great little kit: as Duke said, very little tidying up needed.  I've heard similar about the newer 1/72 Revell kits, I'll definitely consider them in future trips to the hobby shop. They certainly beat a lot of the older Zvezda-based 1/35 kits I've been building in recent years!

And I've finished!

I'm just building for fun, so I don't get too fussy about authentic detailing, etc.  Also the antenna are left off, because I tire of fixing them every two weeks. I really need to buy a display cabinet! ;)

Yes that is a very very very (very very very) well done model. Bow [bow] Bow [bow]Bow [bow]

Progress on mine is I probably will only open the commanders hatch or maybe no at all since the interior that I repainted white looks like crap so it's probably going to be closed up. I have the back hatch.

thanks folks, considering some of the other excellent work in this GB, that's quite a compliment! even more so because of my recent models, I probably knocked this one out the quickest - helped by the kit's ease of construction.

There are a few bits I know I could have done better, but that's the risk of hanging around FSM - a very high standard is set in the mag and by forum members!  I was particularly pleased with how neatly I painted the road wheels, I normally make a right mess of these, even in 1/35!

Look forward to seeing the rest of the builds check in, thanks for letting me join in late!

ygmodeler4, shame you have to cover it up after all that work - write it off to experience: It's amazing how many modelers complete interior detailing with the aim of covering it up! Confused [%-)]

Yes that's always puzzled me... spending$$$ on interior resin sets then closing all hatches except maybe one and putting a figure in it. I went into this thinking if it wasn't good enough I wouldn't have to show it and it wasn't good enough. Oh well it wasnt an expensive kit that I bought for the interior so I m ok with it.Pics to be shown soon.

Er...I think I'm just a tad late for this GB!  I'm still settling down into the new place.  Last night did the first work on the Tiran 5 since last April (painted the tyres).  At least at this rate I'll be in time for the IDF GB 2010, or so...
