Thanks for the comments, all!

I've started the camo for the MiG-27. Masked off the undersides tonight and sprayed the tan (I used a bottle of polly scale, which I had left over from another project, and rediscovered that I really like the stuff - might have ot look into using it some more - very forgiving of a heavy trigger finger on the airbrush!). Tomorrow, the lighter of two shades of green.

In the meantime, I've also been painting the landing gear for both planes and some other small parts. I might just finish these in time!

Hi all,
Walked into a hobby shop I rarely frequent and picket me up a Dragon Jian Ji 2, so I've got the canopy I need, for now at least. I've finished the bang seat, attached the windscreen, moving right along. I'd better take some shots before I close it in.

Hi,
Actually I've found that the whole canopy thing doesn't fit well on this kit. I think that goes with them trying to make an openable sliding canopy.. I've naturally got rid of that feature, but the fit is just super poor. Oh well, I'll stuff around with it some more until it looks OK, I guess.
The only other viable Mig 15 kit in 1/72 is the KP one, to my knowledge, has anyone ever had a crack at that ?
I did the Airfix one maybe 25 years ago, it's obviously a very early molding, don't bother ,a nd the Italeri one is the Dragon one, I think.

That mig-15 kit is supposed to be pretty bad. good luck if you try for it though!

so here we are with major painting done and the MiGs sitting on their landing gear.

In unmasking the MiG-27 I broke off (never to be seen again) one of the antenna looking things you see sticking out from the wing root. I replaced it with sprue I stretched over a candle just enough to get the right diameter and the approximate taper - I sanded it the rest of the way to the right profile, cut it to fit, and superglued it in place.

Next will be detail painting - things like the MiG-23 radome and the fin caps on the tails and folding ventral fins.

Well FINALLY my FOXBAT has reached the Decaling stage.

Only thing is there are about 40 Ba-Zillion little declas to apply and set so I just may need that extension just for this. Big Smile [:D]

(Lots of decals are a good thing actually)

(Okay with the exception of a few pitot tubes and a dullcote)

I proudly present Revell's HUGE 1/48 scale MiG-25 FOXBAT!!

(Note the lazy daschunds in the background soaking up the sun.)

Note how it dwarfs even the huge F-105 for scale.

This was my first Group build ever, and I enjoyed it immensely. Thanks guys, and comments are welcome.

No problem at all. I love the plane! It looks wonderful! I'm probably switching my build to a la-7 from academy with a legen productions cockpit. I feel I need a break from what's on my bench at the mo'.

I mentioned it in the A/C forum, but it deserves another "well done"! Thumbs Up [tup]

On the subject of a slight extension, it probably won't hurt... I can probably get done in time but it would be a rather close call. I'm at the Future-decal-flat coat-detail stage, and you know how the detailing can bog down. Yes, that's close to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, but I'm looking at the parents coming for a visit (while they're supportive of the hobby, I can hardly spend a day at work then retire to the model room with them in front of the tube!), and my own travels for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a 2 1/2 week work trip at the end of November/early December...

Of course our next air wing starts 9 January so I'm not sure what I'd do with the extension if we had it!! Dead [xx(]

Whoa!!!

A6, I Lovew the progress pics on that Engine. The fan blades are simply awesome.

I just have to ask though, how are you planning on displaying it? On a cart next to the MiG or what?

OK, I'm tired of waiting for Tanky to show us his, so I'll show you mine Smile [:)] . Build is the Academy 1/48 Mig 21 Fishbed, but this is the replacement cockpit detail set from Aires. Basic color is Model Master Interior Blue/Green enamel with all detail painting done with Vallejo acrylics.

Hi Gang.

Making a bit more progerss on the MiG-21. The wings are joined to the Fuselage and I've painted the tail and applied the decals to it. As you can see the engine is attached to the starboard fuselage, so in answer to the question on how I'm going to display it, I decided not to. The engine is pretty poor on detail and I didn't feel like detailing it aside from the Eduard afterburner set. I felt that would be enough. Both wings have all the BMF applied as well as the horizontal stabs. Tomorrow I'll apply the foil to the flaps and join the fuselage together, clean up the seams and start foiling the rest of the jet. More photos to come soon. Thanks for the compliments folks.
