After a little bit of inactivity while entertaining my folks who came for a visit to see the new house, I've finally got some more progress to report - decals are finally on as of Sat. 11/19.  Tomorrow (hopefully) I'll spray on a dullcoat before getting on with detailing...

Ooooooo....nice ones.

Thats a pretty interesting white paintjob on the -23.  Where did you find the reference on it?  It looks pretty sweet.

Good job on the camo -27 as well.   Are you going to hit it with a wash before the dullcoat?

It's actually light gray - the MiG devotees over at ARC recommended FS36495 as a good match for the colors I saw in some photos I unearthed on the 'net.

The details on both of these are raised, so instead of the normal wash I'm considering using a graphite artist's pencil to highlight details after I dullcoat.  I've had some pretty good results with that before on other projects with raised detail. As I'm currently completely rescribing a 1/46 EA-6B, I was considerably less than keen to rescribe these two as well...Smile [:)]

Cool [8D] Hi Gang.

Here's a couple of update shots of my MiG-21 progress. Fuselage has been joined and all seams have been smoothed out. I'm starting to apply the foil to the fuselage and I've just finished applying the foil to the control surfaces and almost done applying it to the gear doors (lying next to the nose). Enjoy the views and Happy Thanksgiving!

All the Migs are looking really good, and have inspired me to finish my Su-34 that has been at 80% for the longest time.  Great looking paint schemes on the 23 and 27, and the foil looks awsome on your 21!!!

I have finally put the decals on,  and will be applying a coat of future to seal them and then begin the weathering process.  With some luck it should be completed this weekend!!!

Comrades, I now exist once more on finescale! The change in format made it impossible to get my old name (Sergei Mad!! Sergei Crush!!) but Im back now, And I finally have my MiG-3!

Unfortunately, I wont be getting the proper paints (I.E. white) until about new years, So Ill probably be a little rushed.

Im also trying Gap filler on some of the seams. Are you just supposed to slather it on the entire area and then scrape off the excess? cause That's what I did. Well see how It comes out after painting.

And, even though my gray paint malfunctioned on me and truned out gloppy and glossy, a flatcoat fixed it right up, and My interior doesnt look to bad, except that I couldnt get the guns to line up with their barrels....Oh, well.

Looks like good progress Comrad.  Keep us posted.  Normally, you want to just get the filler in the seam & only a minimal amount on surrounding surfaces.  Then sand it down flush to the model srface, eliminating the seam.

sounds good. you get small omounts of it with something like a toothpick, right?

I could have put on the bottom paint on the plane at least, but my house conveniently chose this moment to run out of masking tape.

Dont you just hate when that happens??

I have most of the small bits on my Su-34, all the decals on and a bit of weathering completed.  All I am awaiting is the time to spray the dull coat and then I'll shoot some pictures to post here.

Yeah!! [yeah]Here is my entry into this GB, the Su-34 "platypus" or attack flanker.  It is the 1/72 scale kit from Italeri, not too bad over all, little problems with the fit of the wings on the bottom but a fun kit to build.  I modified the scheme with my own mix of paint colors and then attempted to show it in an operational type scheme.

Any way here are the pics:

Saw it first on the Aircraft Forum Matt, but worth a second look.  Very nice build.

I'm making good progress. I will have the pics. soon. they are sadly no longer accurate since I lost the PE gunsight. It's a pity too, because I thought the gunsight came out rather well...

there they are. revell 1/72.

Here's the latest shot of my  1/32 Trumpeter MiG-21. I added the foil on the spine and the intake lip has been attached, painted and given a seal of future. The next step of foil is going to be the most difficult.  Just below the cockpit on both sides are narrow panels that will be done last There are also two access panels on the top of the nose section that will be done last. The challenging part is that the entire nose section below those panels is one solid section of aluminum on the real aircraft. So I have to measure and cut the foil to exact dimensions to fit the curve of the forward section and wrap it around so that it meets up at the bottom of the nose section.  Then cut it so that it meets with no indication of a demarkation line. Fun times, they are'a comin'! Cool [8D]

The Aires pit fits quite well with only minor surgery required on the kit parts (Fuselage).  Major assembly is done & I'm about ready to start the main painting.  Holiday preparations keep getting in my way, but I'll post some pics when painting is done.  Not sure I'll finish it before the Holidays, but I'll try.

I've done a lot of work on mine. intakes assembled/ seam sanded away (I'm convinced mr. surfacer is god's final gift to man), pe vent's painstakingly assembled- 15 bends per piece- intakes painted with my cool new method of painting jet exhausts that I made up out of the blue by stealing and combining other people's techniques- radome attached and lip sanded away landing gear wheels assembled and seam sanded away. it should be ready for paint in a week or so.

the su-27 is almost ready for the paintshop. just a few more PE pices to add and a little bit of touch up, and i get to start that rather difficult tricolor camo scheme.

Still here Tanky, just haven't done as much as I'd hoped.  The Holidays took up a lot more of my time & energy than I thought.  I have the MIG 21 primed but no color yet.  Hope to start final painting tomorrow.

Cant wait to see the pics of your Su-27 there Tanky!!! Smile [:)]

Big Smile [:D]Hi Tanky and fellow GB'ers. Sorry I've been away from the forum for a while, but recovering from cancer surgery does put a bit of a damper on my building time. Anyway, here are some shots I took back on the 20th after I did a little work on my MiG-21.  I've been working on it the past couple of days in the livingroom while laying on my belly on the futon. (can't sit at my work bench due to the surgery).  I should be able to have it done by the 10th and I'll have more shots later this week. Enjoy!

A6Efan, very sorry to hear about the surgery & wishing you a full & speedy recovery.  The Mig is looking great.  Don't think I could build laying on my belly, but seems you have it figured out.

Get well my friend.
