Hey guys...things are looking good. All of the planes I have seen are inspiring...in fact I was wondering if I could join in...this is until May 06 right?

I have a 1/48 Ki-84 Hayate (Frank) that has been sitting collecting dust that I would like to toss into the mix. Besided it would get me away from that horrible DeHaviland Venom project I have been working on.

What say you boss man?

Sorry to here about your decals Richard, hope everything works out.

I'm now trying my first attempt at aotake coating. At the risk of exposing my age, I recall back in the 50's, my brother had a metal toy truck that was made in Japan and had a very strange metallic bluish green coating. I just wonder if, in fact, it was aotake. Probably not, but it sure reminds me of it. After all, it was for anti corrosion. Anyhoo, the Gekko CP has alot of aotake, and I came up with a custom mix that looks pretty close to me. Will post pics soon.

Thanks for the nice words guys. Now for a real serious problem I ran into. When setting up to apply the decals the first one disintigrated while I was waiting for it to release from the backing. It was one of the upper wing decals and I have no 1/24 scale decals in my spares. I took the good one and scanned it into my computer and usiing Microsoft Publisher I was able to lay out and print all the decals I will need for this model. It will take three to five days for the ink to dry then a few overcoats and a couple of days for that to dry and then I will be able to continue on. So I will see you sometime next week with progress photos.

Can't wait ti see some decals Richard.

Well I finally got going on my "Irving"....Lots of clean up and, my personal favorite, filling injector holes. The CP's full of them. Most you probably won't see, but I'm going to try to get'm all. This cockpit is simply loaded with detail.

Cheers,

Jerry

Digger,

I've finally finished some other builds and am able to get going. Since there are already several of Zero's, I'd like to switch to a Gekko type 11 Irving. Ther's alot of interior detail on the Tamiya kit which appeals to me. The Zero is cool, but a little basic. Will post some pics when I have something to show.

Thanks Leon, it is rather large but fun to build.

For those interested, greatmodels.com have most of their 1/24 Thumpeter aircraft on sale for up to 50% off.

Finished the major assembling with a few fit problems. Repaired them with Squadron White putty and a coat of primer. Fix any other putty problem and off to the paint shop.

Lookin' good cj95. I'm sure Digger will have you on the list soon. and as for anit-social behaviour, I haven't posted anything yet as my oscar is still in the box, I've got two builds to push through first before I start this one. We have until May 2006 so lotsa time! I'm think Nov before I get on this one...

Howdy all.

I never got official confirmation that it was okay that I joined this GB......but I'm going to assume that I'm not barred for antisocial behavior and post some pics.

This is a Hasegawa 1/72 'Rex' prototype.

Box has been on the shelf for years and represents the first 1/72 aircraft I've built. (usually do 1/48)

Pre-putty

Need replacement decals....these rotted on the shelf.Dead [xx(]

The painted Kasei-14engine (used on prototype only)......and the reason I dont always paint inside the lines. Propeller [8-]

Howdy Guys......

Been seeing some great looking work here so far, that I wondered if I could join in the fun.

If thats okay I have a 1/72 Hasegawa 'REX' thats been sitting on the shelf for a few (years). Wink [;)]

I usually do 1/48 aircraft so this will be interesting.
