Hmmm i don't normally attach canopies when i paint the uppersurface colours, for some reason it scares me a little but i do paint them at the same time....And from memory the canopy fit isn't that great around the forward section so it would probably be best to fit it and then paint it all together......

The only time i have ever painted a canopy on the model was my latest build Black 8 and thats only because i had to to get the green spots in the right place cause they were on the canopy framing as well as the fueselage.....

I should really do it all the time because it does save time by not having to mask the pit,  i just don't like the idea of 2 coats of future followed by 2 coats of flat clear, i guess i'm paranoid about getting a bleed through on my canopy.....With Black 8 as soon as i had the green spots on i took the canopy off gave it a coat of flat clear and then hid it from my kids until i finished the rest of the model....

Oh, righto then.

How good a fit is the canopy anyways.

Reason is, if I do the upper camo and mottle, wouldn't the canopy already be on the fuse?

Yeah Sean when Darren sends it up to me it will be ready for its first coats of paint on the exterior so i'll preshade it and paint on the RLM 76  followed by a couple of coats of future to seal and protect it and then i'll send it your way for the uppersurface RLM 74 & 75 and mottle, and then comes the first big move, to Toms for canopy masking/painting + paint white rudder and assemble/paint spinner and undercarriage.....

Great to see our lil' project making the rounds againBig Smile [:D]

As soon as it gets here I'll get right into it, shouldn't take long.

Besides, this Iwata is so sweet all I have to do now is load the paint cup, set the handle and walk awaySmile [:)]

And we were going for Bartels 'Red 13' weren't we?

So it should arrive here with the base coat/belly colour done by you right Jules?

Who's doing the canopy masking??

(everyone look at Tom)

It should be all good Tom, Tweets has to do the RLM 74 and 75 uppersurface camo job with all that mottle so he'll probably have her for a while........

BTW you should have taken a few pics of the Damage for us so we could have appreciated properly what happened....

cool... so it is moving again... I was ready to name this build "Around the world in 80 months"  haha kidding.. beleive me I am not quite ready for it to get here yet.  I *JUST* got the insurance check to fix the roof...  I'm going to have to spot the A/C out of my own pocket due to the large deductible for wind storm damage here.  (hurricane prone coast land)  But when they come I am also simultaneously going to remodel the modeling room... hmmm that's two "models" in a row... makes me twice the modeler in my view!  Wink [;)]  So should be fine for anything that comes my way... (main thing is there will be no carpet monster anymore to devour PE and small bits)

BTW It's good to see the 109 on the move again, When it gets to me i'm gonna drop evrything and get my part done quickly, Hopefully i'll get to Seans within a couple of weeks of me getting it, Just to try and speed things up a bit.....

yeah Testors has been marketing them here... they're all wrong as far as color and markings so I don't see the mainstream community going for them yet... at least the modeling community. I can see fat lazy little 10 yr olds with no imagination or ambition buying them...

well that makes up over 1/2 of the 10 yr olds in the US so maybe they will stick...

Hmmm that sounds cool Tom. all the ususal suspects in our 70's sittin on the back patio at Happy acres with bourben laced coffee's remembering the 10 000 kits we built together......
And yeah BTW I've already come across some of theose mass produced diecast models at one of my LHS's, I think Franklin mint may be the one's responsible for them, beleive it or not they cost about AU $160:00....

Jules - or better yet one of us dropped it because of the shakes so all we can do is sit around and talk about the good old days when you actually had to BUILD kits... ya know, before these robots did it for ya...

You guys are just jealous that she's been showing me more affection (if you could call it that) On second thoughts more attention lately.......

Tom to be realistic the 109 probably won't get to you for another 6 months so hopefully all will be well by then, besides you can't sit this out cause it was your idea...

Tom I hope the repairs go along smoothly, it would be very sad if you had to sit this one out.

I finally recieved the decal sheet after more than a 6 week wait (I can thank Canada customs at the good ole post office for that wait) so I will post the relevant details here and if you need anything else or better resolution scans let me know Jules.

PS the jagged edge camo is kinda wierd don't you think?

Sorry about the delay fellas. My modelling room is being painted and I still haven't set my desk back up yet. The 109 is safe in a box somewhere, I'll find it tonight and take some pics. Might post back to Darren later in the week........

yall might have to divert around me on this one fellas... my modeling room is about to be torn into and the roof and outside wall repaired.. depending on when this starts and ends might put me out for this...

this isn't a hole in the roof type thing... the whole side of the roof is sitting at a 45 deg angle with broken boards protruding.. so it could take a bit...
