[:0] Wow!! [wow] Geez Daniel those shots are just fantastic. I must admit I've got a newfound respect for lightening since I took my oldest daughter to the Science Works museum a while ago. During the lightening show they generated lightening bolts and through them at dummies (not the audience) that they had setup. Needless to say that if you are struck by one, you are gone.

Karl I know how that feels too, sometimes when I'm at work I don't get a chance to scratch myself let alone post, then there's now Big Smile [:D]

Tom you're a doomsayer who is just being negative and typically IT when you do point out the obvious faults in the latest business "initiative" and then you're not doing your job properly when the thing they bought anyway doesn't work and they claim that "well you're the IT guys, why didn’t you tell us before".
Angry [:(!]

Cheers

Karl - I feel for ya! My partner and I fought this current project tooth and nail, finding every bad reference out there about the product, combing through Tech Info Docs etc... ends up the powers that be bought it because the SALESMAN said it would do ABC.. ends up the powers that be are coming down on us ... "Why didn't you tell us this product was bad..."

Me: Sir we did in the second meeting on it. "

"Why this is the first I have heard of these problems."

etc...etc.. ad nauseum...

Daniel - those Nikon Cameras.. especially the one you have are a real winner. My sister-in-law does some outdoor shots that have been displayed around town with them. My uncle has the 8800 and THAT one rocks! I have the equivalent Sony (DCSF-828) and it is right up there with the 8800 but for some reason I like the Nikon a little better. (but for $900 US my wife wouldn't see the logic in a second camera after we spent $1,000 for the Sony hahah)

Tom, at least you haven't signed the contract.

We did, for a 8 digit sum per year for a lot of years!!!!!

Unfortunately the people who signed on the dotted didn't ask support whether the contract was worth renewing!!!!!!!!

I now seem to spend 80% of my day sorting what should 5% of my workload..........Banged Head [banghead]

I need to model more....

don't let me get started Karl!!! about third OR 1st party support... we've been waiting on a call back from this HP engineer for almost a month now... we even give him bi-weekly calls to remind him! Here we are poised at buying a fair amount of tech from these guys and we can't even get answers!

The lightning pics are stunning, it's pretty rare we get anything as impressive as that in the UK.

Having said that we had a coach, blown across a football pitch last week after lightning struck his umbrella, but didn't harm him!

Can't wait to see pics of the cockpit.

Apologies for not posting over the last few weeks, I've had a plethora of family birthdays, and work has been a real bind. Bloody 3rd party support teams!

It is pretty good for close ups. It has a macro mode, so it doesn't do too badly at all. That one I posted was a re-sized version of the photo, you should see it full size. It's huge.....

Hmmmmm, haven't tried it with a digital camera yet, might have to next time.
I have a Fuji S5500, might get another memory card and go sick!!

I've got that last pic of yours as desktop now, it's fantastic mate!!

Is that Nikon of yours good for close ups like cockpit pics??

Tweets I use a Nikon Coolpix 5400 Digital for all my photography. I usually set the exposure like I was taking a pic of just the landscape, but set it so it's a bit under-exposed. That way, when the lightning happens, it is just right (hopefully). It's easier with a digital because you can just set it on continuous mode and snap away, you don't have to worry about running out of film.

The close one I got was about 300-400 metres away in the middle of a lake. Best lightning shot I've got by far. Turned out just about the perfect exposure and right in the middle of the shot. Needless to say, my undies were write-offs......

Then there was the time me and a couple of mates were playing tennis, when out of nowhere this bolt landed about 100m away. Turns out, a cricketer on the oval just up the road got struck and was killed. Soiled myself that time too.....

BTW, this may be off topic, but I've done a bit more work on the cockpit. If all goes well, I should be able to give it a coat of paint tommorrow.

LOVE the lighteningApprove [^]!!

We had a close call some years back, use to take alot of lightening pics 'round here.

Then one day, out taking snaps, and a gum tree about 1 km away from us got smacked hard by a strike.
After washing my undies I took the film for developing thinking it would be the best pic on the planetYeah!! [yeah]

It was so over-exposed it wasn't funny, all you could make out was a fine line down the middle, and a shadow of what looked like a tree.Censored [censored]Banged Head [banghead]Sigh [sigh]

Went back and took a pic of what was left of the 20mtr tall tree, which was around 3 mtrs tall after the strike.
It's amazing how 'buzzed' the air gets just before a strike, kinda creepy really.
I'll stop ranting now.

I'll have to go and take some photos of the local flora & fauna tommorrow then eh?

To start off with, here's a pic I took of the local footy oval a few months ago. Me and my brother have a bit of fun taking pics like this. If you're lucky, I might even show you the one that got a bit close for my liking.

Next, is a pic of the local surf break......

I'll get some better ones that show the local area better, then either post them here or put them in the box with the model.....

Thats a cool idea Tom.

Dont forget a pic of yourself (or part thereofWink [;)]) posing with the part you did.
The pics of where we live I reckon are a bit of an essential, kinda 'proof is in the pudding' so to speak.

I wonder if there is a Guiness record in this?Confused [%-)]

Most travelled plastic kit or sumfin??

May seem weird, but if they can have a record for most piercings, why not plastic?

yup! would love to see a pic as well....

next weekend I'll bring a camera out on the boat and snap some shots of our local floral and fauna.. I was thinking we could also post some pics of where we live to round out the whole 'round the world' thing... ya know some shots of the town we live in, some nature shots.. shots down at the local nude beach... okokokok... maybe not that. (Kremps is known to frequent those)

just to show the differences of where we live worldwide!

Haven't done much more work on it. I've done a bit of a wiring loom on the right sidewall. I need to get some more wire to make the fuel line that runs along the right hand sidewall. Once I've got it all together, I'll give it a coat of RLM 66 and do some detail painting. Hope to have it done by the end of the weekend. Then I'll post it to Darren.

There is a drawing of the gunsight somewhere in the book, but it is blocked by a camera that was mounted near it. Some of those photos you posted will be handy though, I was looking for a pic of the large wheels on the left sidewall. Thanks.

I was at work when I wrote about the squadron books and could swear that it had a pic of the g-6 pit with a gunsight or at least a drawing. oh well. Hope this make up for it. Looks like a good start!Cool [8D]

Darren I must be as weak as you then. I got my P-40N in a similar way to you. I walked into the shop intending to buy some paints for the build I was working on, and ended up with the kit (plus a few other items I wasn't planning on buying). Those hobby shops are just too tempting aren't they? I'm even worse at swap meets........

And now for something completely different........

Here are some pics of the cockpit supplied with the 109G-6 kit we're doing for this build.

First up, the floor. See those triangular lumps at the front? They are supposed to be rudder pedals. Check out the pics in Darrens post to see that they didn't even try to get them even close to what they should look like. Might use some spare PE ones there.

The right side wall is a bit better. It looks like they at least tried to make it look like a real 109's side wall.

The left sidewall isn't quite on the same level as the right, but there wasn't as much stuff on the left of the real thing anyway.

Now, as you can see, the level of detail in the cockpit is pretty ordinary so I did some detailling of my own. I've only done the left side wall at the moment. I sanded everything off (except the big wheel, because I couldn't be bothered to re-build that thing) and added my own details from evergreen styrene.

Should look half decent under a coat of paint. I'll hopefully do some more work on the cockpit tomorrow. BTW, this post turned out a bit longer than I had planned, thanks for reading my novelWink [;)]......
