O.k. here are my progress pic's, they are a bit blurry - sorry. It has a black primer coat (a quick coat) The only thing that I do not like is that there was a loss in detail on the road wheels, you will see what I mean when I am done.

So here are two pic's. Enjoy!

started my sdkfz251....the panel needed a lot of extra detail... the entire interior is just crap. i needed to do sooo much scratchtbuilding and i dont even have the seats on!!!
i just need to paint the driver and put him in then i can glue everything and get the interior in. didnt buy a driver took a panther tank driver, put his a$$ under a flame and formed his legs to fit the controls.

Anthony, I think you are crazy for priming with black. The only color you will be effectively be able to paint over it, is well, black. All the possible german camouflage options all use light and medium colors, but no dark ones. Perhaps you are going to give it a custom paint job? Also is that gloss black? I recommend using a light flat gray for priming. It makes detail easy to see and it can easily be painted over. I hardly ever prime to be honest. I spot prime over putty spots.

Dj I take it you are building the 1/35 Tamiya one? It is an outdated kit with numerous errors, but it makes a good model to look at, well not the interior at least. The AFV Club and Dragon ones are far better. The AFV club one has the most detail and correct overhang, but for more than the Dragon ones with all the extra goodies.

I'll repost this:
I am nearly done with assembly of my M-26 Pershing. All the body and details have been assembled. The wheels and tracks are off along with the side panels.

Looking good! ryanpm,

It is flat black, it just looks glossy, I prime black because it tends to make the base colour darker, I am working on the track now - they are hell, so small!, when I am done I will take a shot of it with the the base, camo on. After I am going to add a wash - maybe, and some Tamiya Buff.

ryanpm- yeah its the tamiya....its really has no good interior....but i dont mind it being crappy..i like taking reject, and bad kits and turning them into awesome ones!! i do anything for a good deal.. like my revell F-4 wildcat....wow...NO INTERIOR!!! HARDLY A INSTRUMENT PANEL..... but i made it look awesome..
started on the wheels...man i hate painting the little rubber threads on the wheels..ugh.. but it has to be done

Looking pretty nice Anthony. I have had off and on rain for the past week and haven't been able to start painting. I need to repaint the treads and I still need to paint the road wheels and the body.

O.k guys, here is my entry to this GB. It is a 1/72 PanzerJg. Elefant. (the pic's make it look very glossy, but it is not, it is because of the flash and I was close to the model.) I think I am going to stay with 1/35 armor because you lose a ton of detail - or aleast in this kit. So as always, any and all comments are welcome, Enjoy!

BTW: This is a semi-clean build.Big Smile [:D] and my first 1/72 scale model.

Looks pretty nice, but a bit far from a semi-clean build. What did you use for the mud? It looks a little pale in my opinion. My idea would to be to take burn umber oil paint, thin it, and brush it onto a couple of spots on the treads and wheels to really give them some depth.

I can't believe you were able to finish it so fast!

EDIT: You should put it on last, after the dust.

I used Tamiya buff for the dust, I did what you said with the burnt umber, but after the dust coat it is hardly visable.

Thanks for the comment.

anthony- i would give it a black wash, then lightly drybrush with white to get the details, and then paint the tracks weather them and the road wheels... cuz it kinda looks like u painted the top and forgot about the bottom...-Dj

Patnick?? is it too late to join in your GB?? I didn't catch the start date. (didn't get the finish date either). If there is still time for me to get in , I will be building the M4A3 Sherman. Let me know whenever you have time.

Thanks,
