Darren, put me down too.

Not sure what I'll build, but we'll cross that bridge some time in May!

Wing_nut, I don't think you have a problem committing to GB's, it's the inability to stretch time that is the problem!Wink [;)]

Darren, about that 2006 BoB GB thingy...

 I am like, sooo in!

I've had a 1:72 BF110c/d waiting for almost 8 months for this one! and yes, it is another.....Airfix!  this is the last one, I promise!!!!  Big Smile [:D]

BTW the Airfix Dora for this build is actually a nice kit, if you move past the lack of cp it is a really nice kit for Airfix.  The best one of the three I've built so far.  The Beaufighter was a bear.  The Bolingbroke/blenhiem was marginally better but this Dora is way above those other two.

All, I was watching the Battle of Britain on TV on the weekend so I was inspired to create the GB badge for this years effort as well as some other bits and pieces I'm going to use for the build.

I was planning on posting the tread on 1 April with a start date of 1 May and concluding at the end of Oct, is this OK with everyone?.  As all of the key players from last years BoB build are in this one I thought that I would make sure and see if there is still enough interest in the BoB GB 2006.

Time for a little housekeeping since I have king of only half heartedly been follow the forum… I hate it when life gets in the way of hobbies.

Jay - Great looking Dora… very rapidly becoming my favorite a/c.

Bob -  the 262 looks terrific and a nice start on the Panther.  The metal barrel adds a lot

Tom – Oh brother those anteater zwillings are out there… fringe to the 3rd power.  The other day I was thinking of a zwilling what-if… a  Fw 190 “Double D”

Chris – the armor looks good…. Looks small too.

Panzerwulff-very nice work, specially in small scale.

The Panther has received its coat of dunkergerlb.  Now the problem is deciding on the camo scheme and whether or not to use the side skirts.  (The techinical name is probably not 'side skirts' but I'm not an armor guy.....yet....).

Marc - actually on the forum I found the info and pics for the twin Pfeil's someone had mentioned "what if" on the FW-190's ... let me look at the logistics (and cash output Laugh [(-D]) on something like that and I would consider it.. without the hobby lobby 1/2 sale I would be out... at $42 US each for the kits that would cut into my airbrush money!  And after I saw all the aftermarket kits on Roll Models for the Do335 I can't do it stock!!!  i am estimating about $200 to get that one off the ground (without the 1/2 off sale)  I'd have to... it's a matter of principal!

Chris - great work again!  You're becoming a regular model factory over there!  You've done 2 to my .5 right now!

Ok I decided to go for the German schme for the pics for this GB.. .then put on the British markings after I get the pics... the RAF markings didn't appear until AFTER the war... at the time this thing was fully assembled and got ready for its last flight to the surrender point it was technically during the war and in Nazi markings...

I am totally sold on these cutting edge decals, micro thin but durable enough to handle for positioning (even with micro set on them)... trouble is there is very little info on where to put them.. I ended up putting the fighter version swastikas on the trainer, then realizing the black and white swastikas are what are on the trainer... oh well it will be mostly overpainted in RAF Dark Green before it's all said and done so no biggie!

Finished up my 3rd build for this GB today.  Been a lot of German machinery posted so far, so I thought it time to bring in some Allied Air Power.  Model represents "Fire Ball" from the 63rd FS, 56thFG, flown by Lt. Phillip G. Kuhn.  Kuhn achieved one victory in this aircraft in 1945.

This will complete my builds for this GB, I'm way behind on a couple of others.  But, I'll still drop in to Harrass, errr, give words of encouragement to you guys Smile [:)].

Looks fantastic Chris, nice build.  Is that the DML kit btw?

All, thanks for the thumbs up of the BoB 2006 build, it should be a good one.  To be perfectly frank with you guys I really wouldn't mind if we don't get a cast of 1000s involved in BoB 2006 given the fact that out of 48 starters for this build I've got 28 MIA with another couple of doubtfuls.  I've been toying with a few ideas like only adding new members to the build once they actually start posting and building, but of coarse this does not apply to the usual suspects.  Anyway here's a sneak peak at the GB badge I'm working on.  I haven't finished it yet or resized it but comments would be welcomed.

Progress on the Panther is zilch at the moment because I stupidly agreed to build a Tiger 1 for a local show on the 18.  I am currently alternating between freaking that I'm not going to make it and slightly less freaking that I'm maybe not going to make it.  I spent the whole night last night assembling just one track, these indi tracks do look good but they are killing me.

Cheers

Darren - sounds good, and I would be agreeable to not posting members names until they actually participate.. (unless it was me haha)  but yeah.. we usual suspects tend to get caught up in too much sometimes but we always deliver SOMEthing!!!

BTW:  doing the Do335 with canopy closed as I am donating it to my sister-in-laws dental clinic (she has a pediatric dental practice and needs things to make a "boys" treatment room) or a co worker with a child who has a terminal illness... don't want them knocked off!!!  She thought my BoB GB Martlet was keen....  wait till she sees THIS monster with all the detail and Alclad and such!

Thanks guys for the comments on my MAUS it is the DML 1/72 kit painted with MM sandelgreb, shocoladebraun & lichtgrun then washed with crayola watercolors ( yup the lil kiddie tray of oval cakes ) drybrushed with a craft acrylic mix of soft sand and dusty kahki by ayleenes craft paints. and another watercolor pin wash to the recesses and panel lines topped of with a coat of Aqua net super hold hairspray lol (we artists use it as a fixative for pastels charcoal & pencil drawings ) as a flat sealer it's basically a flat water based varnish/shellac. tell that to your gal next time she is doing her hair ROFLMAO

Rick, fantastic.Bow [bow]  Each time I see one of your builds, I want o go out and make it too.  I just don't have the time to keep up with you, Oh well, I guess I'll just have to add it to my every growing "future project" list.

Darren, I think the list of usual suspects has grown quite a bit the past year! These builds do tend to get the most participation, even though it is mainly the 20 or so regulars Wink [;)]

I have no problem with you adding the participant name once they start posting progress pics. Approve [^] There seems to be a lot of overcommittment.  I know myself, I have purposely chose not to participate in some highly desirable GBs as I  know I won't be able to find the time to complete them, along with my current GBs.  It is a good thing these things are several months long.  I still havn't finished my second model for the Canadian GB, I'm about a week away from that one!Thumbs Up [tup]

BTW, I really like the badge!

Thanks Jay.  I don't build that fast, actually, but being an old, retired, Senior Citizen I have more spare time than most of you working guys with young families.

Yeah, I know, it's just that the amount of time you spent building the jug, I would be spreading it over 3 or 4 months, depending on whether or not I am doing more than one build!  I'd have been done the Canadian GB long ago if I hadn't started the Dora's.  Oh well, such is life!  Just have to keep my stick on the ice and my head up!

Darren,

I'm one of those who are MIA, but I am here, really I am!!  Ashamed [*^_^*]Banged Head [banghead]

If it hasn't been one thing it has been another, but I am making progress on the PaK-40, and am considering a Jagdpanther to go along with it.  I even have pictures, but they are in the in-laws' camera, at the in-laws' house (which is actually where I usually use the computer since I don't have one, but I am at work now - don't tell the boss - so I can't post them until tomorrow).

I have been following everyone's progress and have to say it looks pretty darn good Approve [^]Bow [bow]

I tend to be more a reader than a poster on these things anyways, so please do not take my silence for a lack of interest or progress.

Talk about modeling machines, Rick you are on fire.  Once again another beautiful build well up to your normal high standards as well, great job Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].

Tom $200 Shock [:O] whoa that's a little rich for my meagre modeling budget I'm afraid.  Still adding some of those juicy AM items to a kit like the 335 would sure make it shine.

Also between you and Rick giving the thumbs up to Cutting Edge decals, I have definitely made up my mind to use them for the Allied Aces GB.

Jay I agree that the list of usual suspects has grown a lot over the last 12 months and to my mind that is really good thing Thumbs Up [tup]

Cheers

Darren: It's a very nice badge as is! Don't try to overdo it.

No problems Boyd and actually you aren't marked as MIA on page 1 of the build.  Most of the guys that are marked are the ones that indicated a desire to join in when I first posted this thread but have not been heard of since.

There's still plenty of time left in this build so take it easy and just drop in every now and then to let us know how things are going.
