Dan.... your posts about where you are what you do have had me scratching my head for a couple days....
"but spends most of his time in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor fighting for the alliance"
"I'm expected to raid an enemy town in a couple of minutes..."
Would I be right in guessing that your WOW fan? couple guys I work with are addicts to this game and I thing one may even be in your guild

Just got home from Koksijde, don't be disappointed you didn't get to go, you haven't missed much.
First disappointement (or however it's spelled) : NO patrols, not a single one, turns out all the acrobatic patrols are in Italy today to celebrate the XXth birthday of the Freche Tricolore.
Second and major disappointement, the Mig29 that was supposed to close the show wasn't 100% in order, so it didn't get permission to take off (well, in my book, a Mig29 at 50% still beats an F-16 that's 100% ok)

So, what did we get to see flying :

Fuga Magister
Gnat
F-16
Mirage 2000
Alluette II
some propeller planes of which I didn't get the name (those where some kind of patrol from Denmark)
Alpha Jet

On the parking lot, some more interesting stuff :
- Panavia Tornado (Luftwaffe)
- AH64 Apache (Koninklijke Luchtmacht)
- Alpha Jet (RAF)
- a UH60 Blackhawk for VIP transportation (got the pilot to explain the working of that weird disco ball thinghy on top of the fuselage)
- another Fuga
- Neptune
- Texan
- Atlantlantique
- F16 A and B
- Puma
- Seaking

Hhmmm, ok that I didn't miss much...
Only for that Mig-29, I wanted to be there. Was it a static Mig-29 then?

Opposite in Hechtel, a lot of flying planes: F-16, Tornado, Spitfire, Gnat, stunting Boeing 737, Rockwell B-1 Lancer ....
Static a/c: Catalina, F-16, Augusta, Allouette II, Dutch SAR unit, Merlin Mk.3,...

Well, no update on my progress, but I just came here with the bad news that we lost one of our F-16 over Holland today.
Sadly the pilot was found death at sea.

Hi guys. Checking in with some progress to report. I got the fuselage and wings assembled on the F-16 and then I remembered: I didn't take photos of the completed cockpit before I closed it up! Doh!Banged Head [banghead] I'll try to have pics in the next few days and hopefully the cockpit detail will be visible. Cheers

Hi,
I've got a Revell Hawker hunter and some Daco decals to use on a Belgian Hunter, if that's OK. Started it about a month ago, so it's built not painted yet.
Cheers
Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

QUOTE: outta curiosity, where about are the people here in Belgium located?

I wasn't a member at the time this post started, so, I hope I can be accounted as Belgian as well. I am Belgian (born and raised in Diest) but live in Holland now.
For the time being, I am just about to pick up the trade again. So, I don't expect to deliver A-class work at the time, since I am about to gather some more hardware (knife, files, etc...).
If, by any chance I would start building a Belgian plane, it would either be:
- A (Classic Airframe) 1/48th Hurricane Mk I with fabric wings, based at Schaffen 1939.
- A SV4b (1/48th or 1/72th resin) of the E.V.S. at Goetsenhoven
- A Marchetti SF260 (1/48th resin) of the E.V.S. at Goetsenhoven.
- A Belgian Spitfire Mk IX or MkXVI

Since I have never handled a resin kit before, it will not be very likely that I will build the SV or the Marchetti right away.

So, I cannot promise anything, but if one of these planes will be finished by next year, I'll post some pics of the progress and the end result anyway.

Speaking of gatekeepers, the most famous one is depicted in the first picture at the Belgian National Airport. The SV 4bis

The other one is his continuator, the SF260

BTW, I have never participated in a GB. What are the rules?

Cheers,

Luc

Hi Folks,
Here's a photo of my Hunter, paintwork to follow shortly. I'm not sure whether to spray gloss red, of flat red then gloss varnish later. I might go with the flat, I think.
Cheers

Hi, Luc !!! ( my dad's name is Luc also LOL !!!)
And welcome to the forums !!!

Glad you want to join!

Well, GB's are Group Builds, so actually people from all of the world join a GB to work a particular subject. My GB has to to with Belgian aircrafts.
You can find the rules in the first post. You can post pictures of your build progress and give us advice about the kit you're building, etc...
Tell me in a next post if you are joining and with wich kit, so I can put you in as a member of this GB.
This GB lasts until 21th of June next year (Belgian Independence Day), but if you aren't finished yet, you can still post pics later.
No problem !!!
When having questions, just ask us, we're very willing to help you !!!

If you decide to join, you can just copy the Badge (see first post) and put it in your signature, so everyone can see you're joining our GB.

Cheers,

Jürgen

Hi Tony,

I would prim the model first, if I were you...
And then paint with matt paints (they cover better...) and then gloss coat with Future or other Gloss Coats... But I don't like a gloss look, so I would make it Satin...
Are you going to make a plane of the "Red Devils" stunt team?

Jürgen

Hey Jürgen,

I used to live in Schaffen (My relatives are still living over there).
I myself moved to Holland about 5 years ago; First Rotterdam and now living in Haarlem near Amsterdam.
Sure I know Glabbeek. Done that road from Diest to Tienen many times. Especially when I went to the E.V.S. at Goetsenhoven. My father used to work there as a mechanic, hence my interest for the SV4b and the Marchetti Big Smile [:D].
I also had a friend living in Oplinter. Done a lot of sorties on the motorbike in your region too. So, Kapelle, Meensel-Kiezegem, Bunsbeek, Kumtich, Oplinter, Drieslinter, etc… is/was no unknown terrain to me.

In regards to the GB, it is still hard for me to decide what I am about to do. I’ll probably start with a Spit, since I more or less feel like a newbie at the time. I do have to pick up the skills again, you know. I’ll have to dive into my stash to look for these birds.
At the time being I’m trying to finish the Revell 1/72th Hurricane Mk IIb.
I’ll come back to you as soon as I find the Spits, in order to make my decision.

In order to ad the Badge, I will have to create a sig, isn't it? I’ll have to look into that as well, because I don’t know that much about Website related stuff.

Cheers for now,

Luc (N.Y.F. Question [?]Big Smile [:D] )

Hi Jurgen,
Yes I will prime this one with white, rather than my usual grey. It will be a Red Devils aircraft. I think you are right, satin is better than gloss in this scale.
This is the decal sheet, haven't found one of the aircraft yet.

Hi Luc,

Currentely I'm working on the 1/72 Revell Hawker Hurricane Mk.IIc kit, basically the same kit as yours.

Cheers,

Jürgen

PS to the Mods: I explained Luc how to put and image (badge) in his signature. As it would be easier for me to explain and for him to understand, I told it in Dutch.

Jürgen,

Thanks for the help. It didn't work out well at first, because I couldn't see what kind of html had to come in front and after the url, but as you can see I solved the problem Big Smile [:D].
Now I have to find a nice pic to ad as a personal sig.

As for the rest...well, I didn't make any progress at all, because I found myself fairly ill this morning. I caught up a cold. Water is running from my eyes and nose. It's more or less like a mini-tsunami, looking more like this nowClown [:o)] Big Smile [:D].
Hope to feel a little bit better by tomorrow, in order to look for those spitfires.

I'll get back to you soon.

Hi Jürgen,

Here's a pic of my entry.

Spitfire Mk XVI 349Sqdn 1ste Jachtwing van Beauvechain/Betekom.

Hope you don't mind me making the same model as you are. Since yours is a Italeri and mine is ICM, I don't expect this to be a prob, but anyway if you do just let me know and I'll pick up another one. No problemo!
I don't know whether you are familiar with the ICM model. I understand you are a Spit fanatic as welBig Smile [:D], so maybe you allready made this one earlier on.
I'll do my best to start the project a.s.a.p. (already started reading the leaflet Big Smile [:D]), but since I'm still not feeling 100% this might take some time. I'll have to get fit by next week since I planned to come to Diest. So that will be yet another weekend lost.

Anyhow, just keep me informed.
Have a nice weekend.

Cheers,

Luc

I have seen the newer rebox off your kit at Christiaensen in Leuven.
And take your time, this isn't a "rush" GB...
Hope you'll have a pleasent stay in Belgium again...
I'm going to the Grenslandhallen in Hasselt within a week (I think), there's a modelling show !!!! Yipee !!!!
I've put you in the members list.
