Since you were nice enough to allow me intot he group I figured it is time for some progress.  As I said, I am also doing this build for ther BoG GB for subject matter and can say I am doing the deatiling for this one.  Flaps, landing and cowl, are finally done.

Progress report:  well, not as much as I'd like....I'm decaling a F-16C right now and all the stenciling for just the ordinance has taken longer than the decaling for previous whole WWII aircraft.  Cripes!

Wings are on the fuselage and I'm ready to start filling and sanding the imperfections.  Since it's a Hobbycraft kit there are plenty of imperfections to go around.  Strangely enough, the kit includes drop tanks and rockets but doesn't have attachment holes for drilling out indicated in the wing, although the instructions clearly point to the holes.  I've had to guesstimate the locations based on whatever research I could dig up.

I've finally managed to start my Jagdpanther, and I can already tell this build is gonna last a long time.  I've spent about 2 full days now just sanding and cleaning up the inside of the hull, and some of the resin pieces.  I had to cut out the entire roof, and am supposed to replace it with a resin piece which was quite warped, but I've managed to get it somewhat straight.  Hopefully tomorrow I can actually start some assembly , and have some pics of some actual progress up soon.

Progress report:

Fuselage is together with rudder and elevators attached.  I've been sanding and cutting the living Censored [censored] out of the CE resin wheel well, mostly just to remove the casting block. That's about finished and I'm in good shape to have the wings assembled and attached to the fuselage by the beginning of the week.

Well you know that modelers are all gluttons for punishment, otherwise we'd have all given up at the first bad modeling experience!!!  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

btw - off topic - would you like to include your flanker in the Su-27 GB, I have a feeling that it is going to be a non-starter.

the instructions are always bad. but even when you get it right, the fit is worse. airies is horrible. yet i keep using them for their wonderful detail...

I havent started on it yet but just by looking at it I see some key instructions that have been left out and if you aren't careful could create a bit of trouble down the road.  I am itching to get started but will have to clear my bench of the two kits and a small hybrid that I am working on at the moment!!

Tanky - If I could I'd like to change my entry for this Group Build to a Tamiya 1/48th P-51D with the Aries Detail set, Eduard PE and Eduard zoom PE.  If I start feeling really froggy I'll go back to my Bf-109G-14.

Thanks and Merry Christmas,

Matt

Thanks, Leon.  I've never been able to grasp the subtleties of dry-brushing, so I use white and silver Prismacolor pencils to highlight raised detail, along with dabs of yellow and red paint for switches and knobs.  It works for me.

That looks great arki. Are the instruments dry brushed white? or some other method? They look great.

I agree with you about cutting edge. I am working on a spitfire with their superdetail cockpit. It is great with excellent detail, but was quite expensive relative to the actual kit.

Looking forward to more or your excellent work!

Ok, here are pics of the completed Cutting Edge cockpit for the Sea Fury.  Gotta love Cutting Edge, although the price could be a little lower.

Still have a way to go.  Here's a shot of the rest of the Cutting Edge pieces along with the fuselage.  At least now I can close up the fuselage.

Comments welcome.

Hi all.

I'm going to change my build to a 1/72 Hasegawa Bf-109G-14 with True Details wheels and cocpit, Falcon vac canopy, Hawkeye designs landing gear, Eduard masks, PART and Eduard PE, and Third Group decals, and a bunch of scratch-built stuff.  I hope this is alright

Thanks all, that was fun to build.  Good kit for a beginner as there are not too many parts and it goes together easily without any major problems.
