Hi all,

I finally finished my second bird. It's the Revell 1/72 model. Second one I've built, I really like the kit. I'm a little upset though, cause I broke the front windscreen while masking it off for painting. I'm happy with how my first Alclad II paintjob came out, but I think next time I'll put in a little more time. In fact, I think my modeling is at the pint where I need to take more time with each and every part. Anyhow, here are the pics:

I'm sure you'll notice there is no tailwheel. It was a casuality of the Carpet Monster. Also, the guns will get painted black next time I've got the black paint out.

Jabbe - the real P-47's I've seen, along with the color call outs on the two different kits I have built list chrome or silver for the guns.. maybe someone else can chime in on this...

Also.. I went to the school where I donated the P-47 to that class and got a few o.k. shots, I just need to find the USB cable for my wifes camera... my sony has a different connector than hers...

Great looking build Joshua, I love the finish and that awesome nose art.

Also, I agree the others, the .50 cal blast tubes on a P-47 are always a polished aluminum or chrome in every reference shot that I have seen.

We used to call the Doc an "Honorary Marine", but I'm sure you you've heard that before. And I know what mean, I always loved going on gun runs, especially at night under the NVGs.

Ditto to what everyone said, Jabbe, your build turnd out very nice. Bummer on the windshield, did the crack cause some fit issues?

Have to agree with Tom and Geoff on the .50 cal

Finally, I have some good news of actual progress on my build! My Tamiya 1/48 P-47D Razorback "Fightin' Gator" is complete! I must admit this one has been bittersweet for me, meaning that the kit itself was by far one of the best and easiest I've ever built (absolutely no putty needed). And then it came time to final it. I had problems from the Alclad II chipping everytime I turned around, to me dropping it , causing a couple of repairs, to the canopy looking like crap, to problems attaching the antenna wires, tail wheel....needless to say, I'm very happy to have finally finished!

So here it is...OOB except for the Ultracast seat and the AeroMaster decals, mostly Model Master paint except for the Alclad II Aluminum NMF, and Microscale decalling liquids (Set/Sol)

Geoff I'm sorry to hear that the Razorback was a bit of a trial but the end result is fantastic, nice job

At last, I'm on-line again from home, so here are some pictures of my build

The kit went together with minimal work, decals are from the box exdept for the name, nose art and squadron codes. The kit decals are not that great, squadron code letters are from the scrap box, the nose art and name I made myself, the Vargas girl I picked up on-line or from someones avaitor(I can't remember which). The name is from an old girl friend of mine. I am not a believer in weathering and being and old chief, I would not allow my bird to get overly dirty.

Hey guys, real life has been so busy lately, there is no way I'm going to be able to get my P-47 finished in time. 

I'll finish it in the next month or two and will post pics anyway when it's done. 

I'm afraid I'm in the same boat as Scott and there is no chance of a finish to my P-47 by the end of the month.

When it is finally done I'll post some pics back to this thread as well.

John - great job on the build!!!  I especially like the name and noseart combo.  I remember seeing that pic here but can't remember where... always liked it....  awesome job and glad you came through on it despite illness and no internet for a bit...
