                        Dave & Rick Thanks glad you like it the kit is the Academy 1/72 Hurricane II C,the Hurricat version of the Sea Hurricane only had catapault attachments no arresting gear. So I haven't added the Y type arresting hook YET,I'm still trying to build the Catapault as a Dio if I cannot find enough reference I will add the arresting gear using brass wire.BTW the Sea Hurricane was a better shipboard aircraft than the Seafire due to it's wider track landing gear  there were far less tipping incidents with the Sea Hurricane. But the Spit's were the "higher performing" aircraft so of course the FAA wanted Seafires TTFN !!!

                        Well-- some progress to report-- last coat of paint is on-- will have to respray in a few spots-- but the tri-color seems to be going on well.  Here be the results to date:

                        Nice work, Mike!  I look forward to seeing the scheme without the mask on.  :)

                        I did my wash on the panel lines, rivets and small parts last night.  I'll try and get the exhaust and gun stains along with the paint chipping tonight.  If I have time, I'll go ahead and get the dull coat on.  It won't be long now.  :)

                        Hi fellas. Just to show you I am still actually alive, I'm ready to close the fuselage on my Avenger. If all goes according to plan, I should be reay to start painting in the next week or two. Just gotta paint and do a bit of detailling on the engine before I get there.

                        Well, I got some weathering stuff done.  Here are some pics after doing the panel lines, exhaust stains and gun stains.  I'm not totally sure that I like it.  I'll see what you guys think.  I haven't sealed them in yet.  I did just a tad of paint chipping.  I'm still trying to figure out what technique I want to try.  The silver pencil thing didn't do much.  The last picture isn't that great, but I wanted to show my first attempt at "scratch building".  I used hypodermic needles for the gun barrels.

                        Nice looking work all.  Question on the thre color scheme for the F6F;  Was it hard or soft edge?  Most of my reference photos show a soft edge.  Instructions show a hard edge.

                        Joe - from what I have seen and read it is soft edged...

                        Tryintomodel - Looking good!  for the chipping stuff wait till the dull coat and you'll have really good results... it doesn't wanna adhere to the future if you're using a silver pencil.  If you're trying to drybrush then either way would work...

                        Sorry everyone for my long absents from the GB. Lately I’ve been completely overwhelmed with schoolwork, sports and everything else. Starting Monday I should have some progress picture up on my GM Wildcat since I have spring break for a week. BTW if anyone feel it is necessary to have badge feel free to make one and we can all make vote on oneWink [;)].

                        Cool, espins1.  Look forward to seeing some pics!  I've run into a bit of a interuption with life getting into the way and haven't had a chance to put a dull coat on yet.  I also need to paint the yellow end of the propellers.  I forgot about that.. lol.  Then it's just a little bit of paint chipping and final essembly.  :)

                        That’s great that you’re almost done espins1. Indeed post pictures, I love to see the progress.

                        As for me, I’ve decided to start assembling the engine first before I start the cockpit. I’ll post some pictures once get some good progress done.

                        Well decals are done and I'm on to weathering tomorrow as I use watercolors for my washes they do not take long to finish so I may be done with the Hurricat / Sea Hurricane by tomorrow night. Big Smile [:D] Then it's on to try to build the catapault and launch sled TTFN

                        Pre-shading on the Wildcat is complete, although it was a bit tricky with my airbrush / compressor setup.  I think I'm going to starting shopping around for a new compressor with better pressure regulation.  Anyway, I'm going to spray the underside tonight.  Cool [8D]

                        Hi fellas,

                        Got a progress report on my Avenger. The fuselage is closed and most of the filling/sanding is done. I've just got a few panel lines to re-scribe after sanding them out. The trickiest part of the build so far has been  glueing the bomb bay doors closed cleanly(yes, the Acc-Min kit can be built with the bomb bay doors closed!!). I think I've done a pretty good job of it though. Once I get the engine finished I can close her all  up and start painting (my favourite part).

                        The Hellcat will be back on the bench tonight.  Before pausing I had the pit finished and ready to mount.  I made new side  fuselage windows.  Now the fuselage will be closed and the work on the engine and wings will begin.  The Italeri kit is pretty nice.

                        I sprayed the underside of my Wildcat last night, turned out very nice, better than I had hoped.  I pre-shaded but wanted the effect to be very subtle, and I think I achieved that.  I wanted to post some pics of it last night but I couldn't find my digital camera to save my life!  Oh well, I'm spraying the top surfaces blue gray tonight and hopefully my camera will turn up some where.

                        This isn’t much but I finally got some progress done yesterday. I did some research last night through some books and found a color picture of the cockpit for the FM-2. The resin cockpit that came with the kit is very accurate. I’m hoping today I can add some color to that cockpitBig Smile [:D].

                        And as promised, here are two shots of the top.  The pictures don't do the actual model justice, the pre-shading gave a very subtle variation in the paint that's kinda washed out by the lighting and flash.  Anyway, I'm pretty please with the results.

                        Scott, The wildcat looks good. Pictures always hide pre-shading when you think it looks good. It's only when you have doubts that you have overdone it, that the pre-shading really shows.  Wink [;)] Your's looks really nice.

                        Sean, Looks like a good start on what will turn out to be great. I am impressed by the detail they have put in! Can't wait to see more - trying to decide if I should get that kit, so I anxiously await your comments / opinions on it.
