FINI!!!Party [party]

Finally finished this build of the Accurate Miniatures Dauntless SBD-5 with Eduard PE set.  Great kit, a little tricky in some places, darn canopy refused to cooperate, plus other irritants already documented previously, but I had a lot of fun getting this to the finish line.  Couple of glaring goofs besides the canopy, but I'll let others find them.

I would recommend to anyone thinking of doing this kit to skip the PE set.  Most of it is in the cockpit where it can't be seen, and really just adds time to the build.  It is an Accurate Miniatures after all and so it's already well detailed.

Anyway, thanks to Wooverstone for hosting this and letting me be part of it.  Look forward to all comments and pictures of everyone else's builds.

Thanks for the words of encouragement, guys.  Appreciate it!  This weekend was productive, so given my work schedule I figure I'll be completely finished sometime mid-week.

Decals are finished, watercolor wash is finished, flat coat is shot.  Next is to finish up some minor pieces in the cockpit and mask/paint the canopies.

Crikey, I want this thing done.

I got my order from Great Models today. Now I can finally get some good progress done this week. I’ll post progress shots soon. Big Smile [:D]

I feel for you.  I've had items backordered from Great Models before and it's just not pretty.  I had a canopy mask order for a Kingfisher take 3 months to fill.  I nearly gave up.  But the prices are darn good.  Well, good luck.

I fixed my engine problem, and she's now Futured!  Decaling is next.

It's dragged on too long.  Danged if I didn't hit another setback, too.

LOL I know what you mean. Looks like I won’t get my order from Great Models until September. They have an item on back order. I have some gloss blue paint, but I don’t think I have enough to cover the entire model though. The saw from Micro Mark should be coming in sometime this week. I can finally finish the assembly, just have to wait for the paint now.

Yeah, me too. Smile [:)]  I've certainly hit the point in the build where I just want it done, fini.  It's dragged on too long.  Danged if I didn't hit another setback, too.  Attached the propeller last night and the engine came loose.  As it's nicely snug in the cowling (fully painted) I haven't quite figured out how to fix this one yet.  If it's not one thing, it's six other.

I assemble as much as I could with the GM Wildcat. At this time I’m still waiting for some items to come into the mail. I order a saw blade from micro mark so I could cut out the resin cockpit and I have paint coming in from great models that hasn’t been ship yet.

Progress: paint touch-ups are continuing, with landing gear, bombs, and dive brakes mostly installed.  Getting close to Futuring for decals.

Progress - Tricolor scheme is fully painted, and it's not too bad if I do say so myself.  Next up is painting the interior of the dive flaps insignia red, and then paint touch-ups all around.

Progress - Filling and sanding on fuselage and wings is finished.  I've built the PE dive brakes and flaps, and assembled the bombs, all for priming, which is the next step.  Now the fun begins, painting!!

I got hit by a late model Ford Taurus Sedan going over 60mph and she never hit her breaks when she slam into my car. The high impact side door beams, standard on my 05 Toyota Corolla CE saved my life.

Mike - Awesome work on the hellcat, she looks very beautiful.

Rick- excellent work Fairey Firefly, you did a superb job.

I apologize for being gone for a long time and have not contended to the Group build. Last month my vehicle got into an MVA and was total out completely. Luckily my insurance company will cover my total out car, but there is still a big mess that needs to be taken care of before I start any projects. I just wanted let everyone know why I was absent form the group build for a distant time.
