Does someone remember a person here or on the aircraft forum looking for references on a Navy P-51? If so Panzerwulf over in the Battle of Midway GB has an aircraft mag from who knows when (OLD) with an article on it... has a pic of a P-51 with arresting gear and all!

I don't remember who it was, but it was over in the aircraft forum. The title of the thread was something like I give up.

Jay: Hi! Nice to meet you, I'm JustJay.
Person on street: Jay?
Jay: No, Just Jay
Person: Right, ---- Jay...
Jay: (slightly annoyed) no, it's JUSTJay
Otherperson: (somewhat angry) That's what I said!

etc.. etc.. etc..

wooverstone8 (Sean), my name is Jay or my handel is jboutin, not justboutin, just trying to keep it straight, no worriesBig Smile [:D]

The choice is really tough as there are two Canadians who flew each one, Bill Atkinson got 5 confrmed kills in 1945 in the Pacific flying Hellcats from the HMS Indomitable and Formidable, and the second Hammy Gray was the only Canadian in the Pacific to the Recieve the Victoria Cross by attacking and sinking the Japanese destroyer Amakusa which in the process damaged his Corsair and he crashed and was killed. Hammy Gray flew from the HMS Formidable. There was a documentary recently about him on the History Channel. He is the only foreigner to have a war memorial on Japan soil.

Oh Lord not another one! This one sounds really interesting, I haven't built a Hellcat in a long time and have never done a Corsair. Put me down as a maybe for either one. I have two subjects I want to do for each one but how to choose. We'll see once the start gets closer.

GB's are evil!Evil [}:)] but good at the same time...

I’ve built an arii kit before (never built the hellcat). I built the FW-190 A OOB and went together fairly well. The decal sheet that came with it was worthless though. Besides the decal sheet I really enjoyed the kit and for the price I would buy a second one.

Calvin, I have both the hasegawa and arii hellcats. I have built a hasegawa, but haven't done the arii yet. I would say that the hasegawa kit is a little better (however, some people talk about the engine cowl not looking correct and being deformed), but the arii one should also build up into a nice kit. Someone suggested that I put a true details cockpit (actually for the hasegawa kit) in the arii, so I picked one up, but I don't know if there will be fit problems with it. Personally, I kind of hope you do build that kit up, so I can learn from your comments Cool [8D].

Kevin, that above joke cracked me up! Nice job.

After having gone through my stash I have cut it down to three possibilities. All are Trumpeter 1/32 scale. They are the F4F-4 Wildcat, and the TBF-1C and TBM-3 Avenger. I will have to look closely at all three to see which one it will be but I guess I have a lot of time to decide.

Calvin - haven't heard anything much about the Arii kit one way or another, I've heard that Hasegawa one builds up nice though! I think J.S.Harrison did one recently and it looked tops!

Sean, you should also post this GB in the Aircraft Forum Group Build section, at the top of the Aircraft Forum. Just a thought!Big Smile [:D] Still undecided as to what bird. I've never done a 1/48 Hellcat and I have one in the stash. It's an Arii kit. Doesn't look like much to the kit. And it was cheap!Tongue [:P] LOL I probably should have picked up a Tamiya or Hasegawa kit while I was in Japan.Banged Head [banghead] - Calvin

WWII Carrier Aircraft Design GB (Starts Now -- Ends November 30, 2006)
Posted by wooverstone8 on Saturday, August 27, 2005 9:33 AM

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Just out of plain curiosity, how many of you would be interested in a WWII Carrier Aircraft Group Build? If anyone is interested, I would be happy to host this GB.

Rules:

1)The starting date will be March 1, 2006 and ends in September 30, 2006. Can not be started before the start date. If needed, due date will be extended.
2)As for scale, it cannot be any smaller then 1/72 and can’t be any bigger then 1/32.
3)Scratch building and After Market parts are fine.
4) Can not be shared w/other GB's.
5)Rules Updated & Revised The GB title is WWII carrier aircraft, so it can not be from any other era, and has to be a carrier aircraft. Ground aircraft that were used on carriers are welcome, but they must have markings showing that it was from a carrier unit. I’ll except the B-25 only if it took part in the Doolittle Raid and as for the ME 109T, I’ll except it too since it was originally design as carrier aircraft. Paper Projects are not allowed.
6) Most Important rule--Have FunWink [;)]

Caution: there is no badge available for this build. This GB is design to learn more about the hobby/subject and to get to know other members participating in this GB and on the forum. Smile [:)]

Any takers? Any one?
