                        Just about finished with my Wildcat, I finally got the stars on the fuselage sides to cling fairly tightly to the rivets.... close enough for government work anyway.  Wink [;)]  I plan on applying the final clearcoat tonight or tomorrow.

                        Joe, Grand Phoenix is an off-shoot of Eagle Strike/ Aeromaster.  Limited run kits are generally more challenging than the mainstream kits, but offer subjects the mainstreamers are unlikely to ever produce.

                        Here's my finished build.  Grand Phoenix 1/48 Fairey Firefly Mk I kit.  Model is the bird "Lucy Quipment" from 1771 Squadron, HMS Implacable, PTO 1945.  The 1771 Squadron joined the British Pacific Fleet in 1945 & carried out strikes on the Japanese mainland & shipping near the end of the war.

                        Finally managed some progress on my SBD-5.  PE is installed on the cockpit sides, interior green is shot and I'm detail painting.  The instrument panel, seat and cockpit flooring are next.  The detail on the AM kit is really good and the Eduard set is just that much better, but it is tedious going.  I'll probably have pics up in a couple of weeks when I get the interior squared away.

                        I would drown the decal in micro-sol.  Really slap it on to soak it, especially since it's been so long.  Then keep applying it every 5 min for about 30 min or so.  After it's good and wet, you can poke any airbubbles with a stick pin.  Hopefully you will notice some progress the next day as it soaks it in and settles down.  If you still have some areas that need work, repeat the process.  It will settle down.  Good Luck!

                        Hi Dave, I've re-applied the solva set a couple of times and the decals seem to be settling down a bit, but they're not nearly as good as yours turned out.  I'm assuming I just need to keep patiently applying the solvaset a bunch more times and hopefully they'll snug all the way down.
