Hi all

For those of you that are interested, there is Super Hornet GB over at ARC that will start in May 2006.I must still get confirmation from Rob but in the meantime, I'm quite happy for people to "share" their build across both sites if people want to join up at ARC.

The GB will only start in May so hopefully we would have finished atleast one kit each, meaning that no sharing would be required.

Here is a link to the thread:

Sign me up John!

I have (14) 1/48 scale Super Hornets (8 E's and 6 F's) that I need to start making a dent in.  This GB (as well as the other one on ARC) should help me get these beasts built!

Cheers!

boy you sound like me kstarter i thought i had 15 in my stash but i missed counted right know i have 5-f-18 e and 3-f-18 f  all in 1/72 and 1  1/48 f-18 -E and 2 more E coming in the snail mail from greatmodels and a G on pre-order from great models in 1/48 since no 1/72 is out yet. so lets see that will be a E adn F an G for fsm gb and a E and F for for the arc gb.and a ton of c/d to do looks like its time to order some more super hornets. and i am currently working on a f-18 f right now will post some pics of it later i am all most to the painting part of it.

For this GB, I'll probably start things off with a VFA-22 F/A-18E.  If I have time, then I'll also build a VFA-115 F/A-18E as well.  These are the two squadrons I photographed when I visited the U.S.S. Reagan this past July.

I'll probably build a couple of F model squadrons for the ARC GB and then I'll build a VFA-14 F/A-18E and VFA-41 F/A-18F for the Nimitz GB (IF ARC indeed has that one).

That reminds me, how long do the GB's on this forum run for?  I'm sure it says somewhere, I just haven't had time to look.

Cheers!

John

Welcome aboard Kstater94. The official endtime for this GB hasn't been decided yet, its still up for debate and since we are sharing builds across two GBs then maybe we should let the end dates coincide with each other?

Let me know what you guys think.

Rob, I was wandering when your "will power" would cave in.....hehehe

well hunting has been cancelled by a poor telling of the weateher by our weather person i didnt know it was suppose to rain all day long . so it looks like a good day at the modeling bench, hope to have the hornet all painted up by this evening.

I would like to take part in the group build also.  Can I enter planes that have been started.  I have three 1/72 Super Hornets that are less than 25% finished.  I haven't worked on them for a few months and thought this would be a good chance to finish them up.

If not, I have one 1/72 scale and two 1/48 models I could do.

I like the idea of this ending when the ARC GB ends.  That would give me a LOT of wiggle room as (from what I remember) the GB on ARC won't start until May and will end six months after that.  This would really help out and would look really cool to see all of those Super Hornet models!

I'm all for it!

i am all game for both of these hornets gb to end at the same time. well my quick hornet build  is all painted i screwed up the canopy so i have to redo it. DO NOT use glad press and seal by glad. i tried it and failed. it leaves a tacky susbtance on the canopy. well it looks like another day at the ol model bench rain again all day so no hunting. also here a a couple of pics of the hornet its all painted just have to redo the canopy window screen and paint the well bays . so enjoy them

I just ordered the TwoBobs Decal sets for the 50th Anniversary Diamondbacks and the Rockin' Rhinos #1 for my "F" and "E" superbugs.   I should be starting on them in the next couple of weeks after I finish the Flanker that has its talons in me at the moment.  Cant wait to see all the great looking bugs!!!! Hi all

At long last its finally time to open those superhornet boxes and sniff in the smell of fresh styrene!

I'm just attaching the weapons to my current build and cleaning off the residue on the canopy left over from masking. I will start on the superhornet this weekend.(hopefully sooner)

Looking forward to seeing all the progress pics.

Hey John.

Taking your advise. Looks like I might need a hand with the Revell kit. It is puzzling how they can muck up the instruction sheet. Just look at what they have down for color M, which is the yellow on the stabs.!! It's the color for the fuselage???

I don't think so.

Anyways, sign me up...I'll be starting this bad boy on the morrow.

Strange to be back on FSM. Been away for a while.

Hey Rob, been hiding out underneath the xmas treeBig Smile [:D] and finishing off my Italeri AH-1Z. Glued the last 2 hellfire missiles on this morning. Will move it to the shelf when I get home.

That leaves my desk open for the Hornet.

Liam, welcom aboard, I've added you onto the build list.

We will be glad to help out in anyway, just ask away.

Hey John:

No worries. I have started the painting with the cockpit..as usual I guess and have sanded off the seam along the main canopy.

However, has anyone else noticed the infamous "copyright Revell" molded onto the OUTSIDE of the wing? On the bottom?Part number2

God! I thought Revell had learned you don't  do that!! A bit of a let-down on an otherwise beautiful kit. However, I am looking forward to this, so, onwards and upwards......

LOL

Monogram kit has it as well, atleast there isn't any detail to be lost if you sand it off.

I did a test fit of the two fuselage halves and they fit like a glove, well almost. One or two swipes on the one corner and you have a fit like a Tamiya kit.

Will start the cockpit work this weekend, anyone got a good quality photo/image of an 'E' cockpit?

Hows everbody else doing?

Heheh. Actually, good quality cockpit shots are needed! I was wondering also, the instructions say the seat-cushion area should be "dark green". Do I take it this means olive drab???

So it has a good fit? Goody-goody!!
