Battle of the Atlantic Feb. 1 to Aug 1, 2006

Hi all as usual work and house reno's have been keeping my progress to a crawl throw in my wife fracturing her wrist last week and I'm not even getting time to sniff the styrene.  However I do have some progress pics for you, but first.

Thanks Dave, Yeah those PE sets are great they realy make the crew compartement look good.  My wife won't be a happy camper if she's stuck with that cast for more than a couple of weeks it's only been 5 days and she's already climbing a tree.

That makes me want to build a Lanc! But where would I put a 1/48 Lanc?

hkshooter Thanks,  I'd suggest you do a 1/72 Lanc you might have a better chance to find some room for it

I went back a bunch of pages... have not been around as much lately...

Karl, HKshooter, Marc, Jay, Bob... All of you have made some great looking progress.

If I didn't go back far enough and missed some progress my apologies... not leaving anyone out on purpose.

on the pit Bear.  Nice work.

Major decals are on the Avenger.  Fighting the urge to NOT put all the little stencils on the plane.  Especially since this is a very old set of decals.  Will flip a coin tonight to decide.....

Bob, Karl and Marc thanks.  Yes Karl the PE set is pre painted it looks great and makes my life easier.

Bout time I posted some progress.  I've been plodding along with the Swordfish, but now all of the major components are assembled & primed.  Like most Bipes, they need to be painted & assembled as modules. This kit is designed so that the wings can be built either extended or folded, which further complicates matters.  Anyway, here is a pic of the basic airframe, ready for some color to be sprayed.

Rushing to completion, only slowly .

Rick-Congratulations on 10,000!  Does that come with some kind of award?   Also, your Swordfish is looking good.  Looking forward to more progress pics and notes.  I would like to tackle one someday...maybe.

Well, I decided to bag the stencils on the Avenger-for time and sanities sake.  Also, I made the mistake (maybe) of following the instructions regarding the placement of the fuselage insigina decal.  The instructions show it at a definate angle-so I placed it so.  Oh well, there's always next time.  The Avenger has received another coat of Future over the decals and will get an oil wash sometime this weekend...along with getting the engine painted & completed, along with the landing gear....maybe..

as for progress on my Catalina my solution for the nose weight issue was superglueing 10 pennies into the form of a shotgun slug lol and then gluing it to the rear of the cockpit wall and adding a few more under the cockpit floor on top of the nose gear well now I just need to get my hands on my friends camera to get some danged pics

Chris:  It was volume 28 no. 2 of Scale Aircraft Modeling (from the UK) and it was only a two page article but had 3 or 4 good photos of the catapult structure and attachments.

Progress:  I'm almost done my Ar 234 for the Luft'46 build and I have started painting the interior of the Ju 290.

Only 6 years.......

........I've got at least another 12 before my youngest leaves the nest, and then it will only be temporary if she goes off to University!

I would have got the Greif done yesterday, but ended up spending most of the day in Ikea looking for a new desk for my wife.

NO problem Tom, I hope you can make it but I may have to drop out of a couple myself so I totally understand.  Too many models and too little time.

Karl:  my oldest is 12 and I am being extremely optomistic that he will move out at 18 (and even more optomistic that he will not move back at some point ).  There is also no guarantee that my wife will relinquish the entire use of the room for models.  It will likely have to be split between my models and her scapbook/sewing stuff until the second child moves out.  It would still be a better arangement than the garage though.

It's a...BOY!
