Gee, thanks Grant.

I've been away with work a bit lately, so I haven't popped my head in. I'd be interested in the two allied GBs as well.

I reckon keep this one going too !

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Tony,

You made a nice kit out of that Hasegawa.  Top notch.Big Smile [:D]

I'd do both of them, but I'd lean towards the American side (more kits to choose from).

Even with the green tank build, why not re-thread this one...just 2007 with a slightly modified badge?

We all build the German stuff.  I have a Late Hummel, an Early Jadgpanzer, and a Sturer Emil that need to be completed this year at some point.

Ya know, with all the Shermans beeing released by Dragon, and the new M3 Halftrack out by Academy, as well as other Allied vehicles like then M-8 and M-20 Armored Cars still being produced, maybe we could do a 1/72 scale American Group Build to balance this 1/72 scale German Group Build.

Now there's an idea.....

Maybe we could even use  the same style Group Build Badge modified to show the American Flag  and a Sherman instead of the German insignia.

One could even possiby start a 1/72 scale British/Commonwealth Group Build with the bevy of Fireflies being released by Dragon, as well as the re-release of several Matchbox and Airfix kits.

Ya gotta admit, those two Group Builds mentioned above are two Group Builds that have NEVER been done! Now that manufacturers are finally releasing these subjects, we can see it happen for the very first time!

Wow. This thing is still going on? Nice work all.

The Hummel is a nice kit.

So...do you think it is time to regroup and pick a different country for an 07 group build?

SWEET! So, I'll just submit this next project for this Group Build. It is Dragon's 1/72 scale Hummel early. This kit was missing the return rollers, so I contacted Dragoncare, and opened a ticket. The nbext day they said the parts were shipped and it would take 7-10 days. Two days later, I got the parts, all eight of them.

Well, thanks to prompt service from Dragoncare, I got a lot of work done on the Hummel Early. Here it is all ready for me to paint the interior:

I also managed to start the main gun for this vehicle as well:

Thanks for looking, comments are welcome.

Good work Steve. It's terrific to see you building more prolificly than me too.

Here's the fourth model I've completed in 2006, half as many as last year, but then again we did have our third child at the start of the year. I guess that's where the priority has been this year.

Anyway, here' my Hasegawa 1.72 Jagdpanzer IV with homemade zimmerit and DML tracks, drive wheels and periscope. It's been a bit of a saga this time, but I've enjoyed the ride.

The flash has given it a sheen that just isn't there on the model itself, but the ones I took under the downlight are too dark.

Hope you like it.

Cheers

Well I havent posted much since the group build started but I have built a few models so far I have built a Hummel , Elephant, anf a Panther G in that order. All of the kits are dragon kits and are my first three military kits that I have ever built. To build I have been brush painting everything with mostly testors paint and doing some mild wethering with pigments and some light washes. Im open to any critisism, sugestions, hints.

Thanks

Steve

I'm nearly there, could finish today or tomorrow at the latest. It's all built, the tracks are on and it's getting dirtied up at the moment.

I ended up sacrificing the tracks of a Dragon kit for it, ouch

The kit tracks were bad as everyone knows. The alternatives I had were tracks from an Italeri Pz IV, but these were one sided, no detail on the inside. They also don't fit the drive wheels (the ones with sprockets ?) on the Italeri kit, or this kit, or the Dragon kit I sacrificed.

Expensive option , but I justified it to myself because I will at least be happy with it. Also, I've put the effort into this model, so I might as welll finish it properly.

I'll post some pics soon as its done.

Cheers

Panzerwulf, excellent job! Love the camo pattern and the weathering looks sharp. One suggestion; place the model under a lioght, or suspend one above the model and try taking the pic without flash. That way your drybrush won't look so heavy.

Thanks again for posting these  pics. You've done outstanding work here. Congrats on your new camera too. Can't wait to see more from you.

Thanks Duke and Dave.

By the time I'd read your posts, I'd already fuzzied up the edges. It can't hurt anyway. It just copped a wash and it's starting to look better in my eyes.

I probably won't login tomorrow, so Merry Christmas to you all.

Cheers

I think they are coming along great too Tony!   Like Duke says, some weathering and dry brushing will soften those edges up for you.

Tony I DON'T agree, that does not look disgusting, that looks great! Believe me, once you get all the drybrushing and weathering on it, you'll see how this really pops out and you won't need any softer edges. Take a look at all my armor. None of mine has a soft edge but still looks pretty good. Don't denigrate your work, it is coming along very very well. Keep plugging man.

Hi, Here are a couple of phots with the hard edged camo done. I want to soften up the edges, then proceed with the weathering.

Looks disgusting right now, I think you'll agree.

I've finally got back to my Hasegawa Jagdpanzer IV L/48 with crap, er I mean, homemade zimmerit. I've hand painted the camo for expediency, and since its seems to be a testbed of sorts, I'm ging to attempt to soften the pattern using chalk pastels. Then I'll seal it and carry on with the weathering. The aim is to make the deadline of Jan 7th.

I've cast up a wheel tonight, as I seem to have lost one whilst it was in storage these last few months, careless of me.

To explain my holdup, I've just spent waaaay too long completing a 1/24 Triumph Sports car.

Cheers

I have to admit that I HAVE had trouble with that brand of paint, probably due to hasty mixing and thinning.

There is nothing stopping you using windex for your thinner, by the way. That MAY help.

Short of getting some MM acrylics myself, the best advice I can give you is to get your hands on some Gunze Sangyo or Xtracrylics. Don't give up on them. The removal by not-so-nasty chemical means is a pretty good thing going for them. Plus, if you use them as weathering paints over enamels, then you can clean up the goofs with windex and not damage the enamel. (Iso-propyl alcohol WILL remove enamel).

I have not had a problem ever with Gunze Sangy paints (airbrushing, that is) as long as they're properly thinned. I can't understand how you'd get airbubbles, though.

What brand of paint were you using?

Testor Model Master acrylic, the first time I've tried it. I think the problem was with me brushing it by hand, and it may have needed more thinner. I'm a long time enamel modeler, so that's what I do best with. Just have to play with the acrylics to make 'em work.

Worked on the Panther G, the FAMO, and the Flak 88 tonight. I swear I'm never going to use acrylic paint again...the FAMO and especially the Flak 88 are a mess, the stuff is too thick, bubbles everywhere...Banged Head [banghead]

Anybody know something that will take acrylic paint off?

I'm back in the game, folks. Been busy with a job change and such, but I'm still working on the 1/72 Panther G. I may get the Flak 88 and the Famo done by January too.
