I'm onto a Jagdpanzer IV L/48 Lang for the German Armor GB now. It's
the Hasegawa kit. The box art vehicle ha zimmerit, but the kit doesn't,
so I'm thinking of ading some using Tamiya putty and some kind of
pressing tool I'll have to come up with myself. Any ideas ?...

Tony,
Thanks for the kind words.
I like to keep things simple in this scale. For my Panzer IV, I
used a brush painted coat of Tamiya Hull Red over primer. To make
them look metal, I did a heavy drybrush of "steel".
For steel, I use an acrylic paste paint in silver metallic mixed with
Tamiya Black. My trick is to not make them look too rusty...just
in the low spots.
For zimmerit, I've used squadron green mixed with plastic cement.
I used the Tamiya zimmerit tool to make it. It took a long
time. I'm soon going to try to melt the plastic with a wood
burner or a soldering iron with an improvised tip. It looks like
the most interesting method.
Did you know that Hasegawa makes that kit with an add-on PE zimmerit
package? The kit costs around $20. Eduard also sells add-on
PE zimmerit.
