Gentlemen,

The selling of product on the FSM forums is prohibited, please refer to your user agreement you approved when you signed up. If you have a quarrel with another forum member, take it off board, there's no place for it here. I have no problem with pointing people to specific site for items they may be looking for, but please be careful about the posting of prices, etc.

I'm currently in the middle of two Tiger projects, converting a Tiger I into a late-war Ausf E, steel wheels, corrected turret, the whole 9 yards, and I'm 3/4 through a Tiger II. Both will be built for static display.

Hi Tom,

I'm not sure yet, but once they're done, I can post some images here. The Tiger I will most likely be a PzAbt. 502, and the Tiger II will be PzAbt. 503 number 234, although I may go with a non-zimmerit vehicle at this point, I'm not sure.

It's not a matter of allowing me to post, it's just that if I build the model and then decide to run it as a story, it's old news if it's been on the forums already...if I build it and we decide not to run it as a story, then it will appear here in full or as a PDF download on the website.

I didn't build the Tiger I in FSM a few years ago, that was Terry Thompson.

Ooooh, errr...

1:1 scale Jagdpanther will be on show and running in the UK in August...

http://www.military-odyssey.fsnet.co.uk/mo/jagdpanther.html

I love the Jagdpanther nearly as much as the kitties. Yes, I won't miss it, come hell or high water (or is it "come hell nor high water"?) Please correct me.

The Jagdpanther at London's Imperial War Museum was my first direct love experience with a tank! And, strangely I remember the first thing I did (besides admiring it's beauty from a distance and from several angles and smiling like a kid at Christmas and shaking uncontollably - and this was only a couple of years ago!) was to bang my fist really hard against the side armour to see if it was real ! Lol, it was meant to withstand more than my fist! (it still hurts)

And the month after... http://www.rcpanzer-shop.de/shop/panther_en.php

And yes for those interested, I believe a member of the forum has got what may be his last "run" of belly plates in stock and for sale at the moment. Tiger 1, King Tiger and an internal Sherman with Daryl Turner's gearbox brace too! Mega! Email him direct for details. I love them, and I'm sure all the other members of this forum thread who have purchased do too! Post your reviews!

And... for those long awaiting the King's Aber release... I have heard nothing from Aber but there is a little something happening at www.wecohe.de that seems interesting.

Regards, and it's only a couple of months to go until the Jagd's appearance...
(I've wet myself already)

Wlad:

Thanks for the booster, and from my best customer too. Bow [bow]

Sadly, one of the Sherman sets is ~already~ reserved to a past KT & T1 customer. He was so happy when they arrived, he e-mailed me right away to reserve the set! Thumbs Up [tup]

On JadgP's in the UK:

Tell us you're going to be there with a god video rig, and take some VCD footage like they did forthe Tiger during the Bovington run! I've got the startup clip... D*mn that beast was a pain to start.

Can you imagine what it was like to start those Mayback units in the winter? Now we know why they used the Kubel's as boosters to turn the engine over.

Re other releases:

I have sources that say we may be seeing new Allied & Russian ammunition stocks in the near future. Images & measurements were acquired, and have been sent to a machinist to have masters made, and then are to be sent on to the casters.

One thing that is still looked for is good data on the Brit Firefly barrel & brake. If you have one nearby that can be used for measurements, please let me know.

Willy,
first of all, I got the gearboxes and reduction as a package.
second, Tamiya only produces about 5 different gearboxes and I have built more than 50 tanks. I know what to fit what.
third, I did not get it directly from you. why should I bother you.
furth, after I heard the noise from gearboxes, I know I even did not want to explore this.
fifth, i only share my personal experience about the reduction kit I got, obviousely not only me have noise problem, so it is not what fit what problem.
After all, this forum is a place to talk about technical side of rc tanks, and share personal experience with rc tank, parts. we do not want to get personal fight here, do not we.
Just drop it, let us talk about tanks. I did not like the reduction kit I got by you. that is my personal experience. I hope you solve the noise problem and improve your email reply quickness to your customer like you did here in the forum. so the people who like your stuff will like it better and the poeple who do not will start like them.

Tom ,
I did not want to start a fight ....
just trying to explore why some people have noise problems ,
that's why I offered you to check it out and may just replace them ,
even thought you did not get them from me ….
I do all this as a hobby , not as a business ….
And Tom , you don’t have to tell me how and when to answer emails or posts ..
As I said , I do this as a hobby ….
I have a very busy live , my job comes first , then the hobby …..
And I do not create any products with the purpose of selling ,
I share my own creations or improvements with my fellow hobbyists …
And why should I drop this ?
This is a forum to share experiences ….
I do not intend or even want to sell anything here …
But I would like to help out the guys saying there are have my gear reductions and having problems with them …
What’s wrong with that ?
And again …
These gear reductions are so simple , there is nothing what needs to be improved ,
It just takes proper installation ..
if there is any noise then it’s only possible from not proper set gear-backlash …
either from the motor-pinion to the spur gear of the gear reduction ,
Or from the output gear from the gear reduction to the spur gear of the Tamiya gearbox …
Since my gear reductions are predrilled for each type gearbox ,
this backlash adjustment should be okay ,
Except if there is something wrong with the Tamiya gearbox itself …
What could be possible ,
since I have encountered that some Tamiya gearboxes are bend ,
therefore it will change the backlash between the gears …..
It’s also possible , since I made several versions of these gear reductions with different output gears from 11 to 18 tooth gears , that you may have ( just as an example ) a gear reduction what had at one time a 12 tooth output gear and someone changed it to a 13 tooth … this will decrease the gear-backlash and may result in higher noise ….
Hope these infos will help the guys having problems ,
Even thought I did not get any reply’s from anybody else about this ,
Even thought I was asking who ever has problems with these gear reductions ,
( no matter if he did get them from me or not ) ,
to contacted me , I am more when happy to help to solve the problem ….

regards

Of course all this talk of gear reductions is redundant if you have a gearbox that is designed from scratch to give accurate scale speed and loads of torque...

Nice eh? This is the Wecohe gearbox upgrade for the Tiger 1 with "old style" gearboxes (without the black plastic covers). In reality it is more of a gearbox re-build than a simple upgrade. And I also replaced the Tamiya nylon gears that it retains (the 3 largest ones in each gearbox) with metal ones made by HPC Gears because I wanted to, (bought from ETO Armor in the US because it's a hell of a lot cheaper to buy from Bob than it is to deal direct with HPC in the UK!) Crazy world isn't it!

I've had it a while now but have not been able to post pics due to a lack of imaging hardware (camera). I still don't have one... I keep buying tank bits instead! So thanks to a friend taking some pics, I can share it with you.

How does it run? Awesome... just don't get in it's way... it is truly evil. As is the cost.

What the pics don't show because it is obscured by the front bracing piece is that the most forward gear meets a smaller one that is on the output shaft.

I hope you enjoy it!

Regards,

Wlad

Wlad ,
these Weheco gearboxes are for sure nice ....
expensive , but well worth the money .....
I made a similar setup based on the old style Tamiya gearboxes ,
( including a all ballbearing setup ! )

here are more detailes :

and yes these HPC gears are expensive as well but worth it ,
and getting them from Bob cheaper ,
the reason for that is : since he buys them in larger quanitys .........
in your case of course it's kind a funny , buying a UK product via the US ....

these older style Tamiya gearboxes , if modified either with Weheco parts ,
or the way I did it , are fore sure much more durable as the stock new styles ...
I still run these modified old style gearboxes in my Tiger's .......
even thought a lot of cash involveld , I do this anytime again ,
nothing like a true to scale Tiger with unstopable crushing power .....

WW,

No need for the thanks, I am just telling the truth.

Do not fear, I shall be there to witness the Jagd, gotta get a camera and video camera (or hopefully convince a friend with far better skills than I to be there) but fear not I'm sure it will be well covered by all manner of folk in the UK with the intention of posting for all to see. These things are not likely to happen again in my lifetime and maybe even yours! You have to share it! I can't wait!!! Oh no, wet myself again...

As far as the Bovy Tiger is concerned, I believe they actually blew the very original motor completely, and beyond salvage in testing after the refurb! Something to do with the magneto's??? I don't know about real motors. The replacement motor (upgraded model) was actually taken from the Porsche King Tiger that was on static display (removed from the tank) there.

And to let all know, I have ordered a set of gear reductions from Willy for another one of my Tigers. After all, there is nothing quite like getting the best there is, direct from the person that invented them, is there? As I believe all those customers that have ordered "direct" from Willy already know and have posted elsewhere. And thanks Willy for your consistent innovation in this hobby and your willingness to share your information via your website. It is an inspiration to me.

Regards,

Jagd, Jagd, Jagd!!!!!!!!!!!

Willy,
NO body tring to fight you and teach you how to do business.
It is your business to chose when and how to reply your emails. Peopl will wonder why if you do not answer their email. even your "wolfy" stated that "you are famouse for delay of replying email". (he deleted his post after, who knows why? do not forget to send him some free set. but people know the truth). some people "tried in vain" to get some. (the post is still on the forum, please do not delete).
As for the gear reduction noise, I am not the only one who has the problem. you know that, i know that and people know that. All I posted here is my personal experience. I did not speak for all people. I do not like the gear reduction kit by you. other people have their right to show their opinion.
again, is it still toyata even I did not buy from toyata factory. you can not say all people who have noise problem did not get directly from you. it does not make any sense to argue about this. and I do not think people like this here. please just stop this.

tomzag you are a stubborn guy and you posts will help no one. I wonder the other guys keep polite with you. I like this forum because of the people who want to help each other and try to solve problems (like Willy who offers to figure out the noise proplem) and because they do it in a polite way - please respect this.

Gentlemen,

Enough is enough. This 6th-grade bickering comes to an end now. If this thread cannot get back on topic, then I'll lock it. Considering it's been on topic until recently, I really don't want to do that. My other option is that I start censoring your posts, and I'm sure you don't want that either. I went so far as to try to change the flow of conversation myself, but it obviously hasn't worked.

On ETOArmor...

He is fast, and for those outside US borders, ~is~ willing to 'adjust' a waybill to make border crossings less painful, but there are downsides too.

I've noted sa few items that worry me: a trend of his prices being higher ~without~ shipping than BYA's are ~with~ shipping; painfully well-padded shipping costs; and tacking on PayPal fees if you use it to order.

I found it cheaper recently to have someone pick parts up from him at Danville and have it shipped with something else from that third party.

I can't say much about BYA... haven't ordered from them yet, but may end up that way. Their e-mails were always fast and for the most part courteous & helpful.

I guess its a trade-off...

I just realize I know him. we met at Danvill, PA, he had a converted white StumTiger. my concern is the speed. I can not wait 2 month again to get parts for my customers. I will give Bob a try and see how fast he is. He just replied an email to me. seems pretty fast there. 56k or DSL?

I had bad luck with the emails with BYA. I emailed him and left message on his phone, no call back and reply for two weeks.
I used paypal, and I requested refund through paypal and warned that I would put this story on my website. then I got an email. his email was not fast, at least to me.
again, that is only my personal experience. I am putting on my shield and armor on now.Whistling [:-^]

I'm sure Backyard Armor and ETO Armor would appreciate some advance pics, seeing as BYA has it advertised already, and ETO is the other US Schumo-Kits distributor.

And some kindly person posted a free image and video host/server, over at http://www.putfile.com/

Hello Guys,
Im new here so be nice to me. Ive just got back into 1/16 tanks after having an original Sherman from a long time ago. Have been into large scale trains and these still are the number one hobby but a friend spotted that Sherman mouldering on a visit to the railway. Dragged it down, fitted a battery and the thing still ran so at a later visit we had a play. Always wanted a Tiger so when same person suggested E-Bay I thought, yeah, why not. I now am in the throes of re-building the original Sherman, a new 56013 Sherman and the Tiger, all to be R/C. Boy is this some kit. Ive read all the pages here and have come across some brilliant tips and ideas from you more experienced modelers. Ive got to the part where the tracks and wheels are on temprorary, just so I can play a bit and the turret and uper deck are being painted and fitted with all those small items. No chance on any P/E, the originals are fiddly enough for me. One thing I would like to know, what gear boxes this monster is fitted with. In the front of the boxes there are three non brass looking gears. They do have short black covers on but no fixed slide like the Sherman ones. The only thing I do not like about this kit is the way too high speed and I think I need a pair of gear reductions but for which box ?.
Oh yes, and a belly plate perhaps ?.
And with regards to Skrull`s site being down, if you have a broadband connection with a static address why not use your own computer, just need Apache on it to serve the pages ?. Just a thought.

Hi Tankmech and welcome to the forum.

From the Tiger pics on your website you have what are generally called the "newer style gearboxes with black covers for the Tiger 1." Gear reductions for them can be obtained from a few different sources. Read back a few pages and then take your pick of supplier. Either will confirm from the pic that this is so and liaise with you regarding your desired scale top speed. It can vary a bit with different pinions, motors, etc.

As to a belly plate, just email Whitewolf direct and he will provide you with all the info and the belly plates too.
