There's just two months tro run on this GB and I do want to finish my figure. I've pulled it out of its box and it's number one on the list from here on. It's the Tamiya 1/16 German Machine Gunner. Basic construction and the acrylic base coat is done. Next come the oils. The face and helmet are also done.

Anyone else out there still interested ?

Cheers

I was starting to wonder if there was still anyone looking at this group build.  Please keep everyone posted as you move forward with your kit.  I built the same one a couple of years ago, so I will be interested to see how much more impressive yours is. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I've finished with the shading of the overcoat, have got the highlighting to go. For some reason I can't bring myself to do field grey with oils, every time I end up shading the Tamiya acrylics I usually use as an undercoat. I mixed up a nice big blob of a good match field grey too. I've also done some of the accessories. I've set myself a goal to finish one model per month in 2007, think this one will get me on track.

Cheers

Hi Everyone,

Here's a progress pic of my German Machine Gunner. Note there is some light highlightingdone when I sprayed the undercoat, but most of the highlights shown are from the overhead lighting.

Regards

Tony

Tony,

I guess that a little humility is good from time to time, at least that has been my thought since watching my beloved Buckeyes fall apart in the BCS nationsl Champioship game this past Monday.  That being said, here are a couple of shots of my German machinegunner.

I also went ahead and took new photos of the figure that I originally built for this group.  I am still learning how to better use a digital camera, but these are less grainy than my original shots.

I would also support an extension as I may add another kit to this build that way.  I am working on a couple for the Revell-Monogram group, but I am about ready to get another figure going.

Scott,

What I can see looks great. I had trouble with my digicam for a while too.

Here's a photo of an old Airfix 54mm British Grenadier from the American War of Independance that I'm doing for the Airfix Welcome Back GB.

Count me in with warriors' Waffen SS trio walking 39-45 set.

For every modeling technique that works, I have three that don't.

Tony,

Nice job onthe redcoat. Big Smile [:D]  Looking at the photos that I posted, I am still disappointed in the photo quality.  I still need to experiment with photographing small detail items.  For some reason, the pictures of my 1:72 parts from an F-14 I built for a couple of other group builds seemed to turn out just fine.  Anyway, I'll keep trying.  Thanks for the compliment, and I will keep checking in, although I need to get a couple of other kits finished before I turn out my next figure.

Nice to see this GB is going on (still without badge!).

Some nice progresses are made; keep up the good work!

Scott, as far as I can tell you have a "light problem". Looking at the german I can see two shadows, this means you are using two light sources.
Three are better; one left front, one right front and one high behind the subject. This should reduce the shadows on the subject and behind.
You'd get the best results photographing your figures with natural light and some reflecting panels.

Hi Everyone,

Progress report, I've been painting all of the accessories on my German Machine Gunner. Gettig a bit closer to completion. Nothing to really justify another photo yet.

Cheers

Avus,

Thanks for the lighting tips.  I shot the latest photos at night so I had the ceiling light, a tri-pod light and the camera flash all "helping me out".  I will try to work more on using natural light in the future, but here in Michigan, it may be a few months before we see sunlight again. Hi Everyone,

I've finished it. Here is a poor quality photo, I'll have another go at it later. I must admit that I found this to be a rather bland figure to do...had trouble getting enthusiastic about it, but I'm quite happy with the finished result. It's my first completed build for the year, in a year when I'm trying to stretch to 12 completed builds...which reminds me, I'm behind schedule, must get back to the workbench.

Cheers

Tony

Tony,

The figure looks very nice! Big Smile [:D] THe photo quality really does not look bad at all.  I found your goal of essentially a model per month interesting, as that has been my goal the last couple of years as well (I have been making my goal, but usually work in a quick build or two in December to make it).  With around 400 unassembled kits in an ever-growing assortment, I should probably raise my goal if I want to catch up in my lifetime.

So did the group decide to extend this build or not?  Just for the fun of it, here is a photo of a 1:72 pilot standing next to the X-15 I recently finished.  Enjoy!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]
