Dave,  Very nice work on the Fulmar.  Looks great Thumbs Up [tup].

For flat top coats, I have settled on PollyScale clear flat acrylic.  Works best for me.

Whistling [:-^] You're right, it is 1:30 am here!  I finished work today at 4:30pm, and am off for FOUR DAYS!!!  Woohoo!!!

I was so tired I went to bed early, then got up around 9pm to work on stuff for a while.  Now, I CAN'T SLEEP!!!

So, I just finished filling the seams on the fuse of the Corsair and rescribed the panel lines and redid the lost rivet detail.  No rest for the wicked!!! Mischief [:-,]

Outstanding work there Dave!  Very nice finish overall, can't see any of the differences you mentioned.  Looks great to my eyes! Thumbs Up [tup]

As for finishes, I have never tried the Future with flat base added, but I have seen some of the results others have acheived and the finish looked spectacular!  Swanny has quite a bit of info on his site about using it.  I have never had good luck using Future for anything other than dipping canopies, and use PollyScale clears for my coats.

While I'm on the subject of finishing coats.  I remember someone mentioning they used future with Tamiya's flat base.  Anyone here used that and know what kind of ratio to mix it with?   Any other recommendations for flat finishes?

Finally got to finish up my Fulmar tonight.  Despite all my best efforts to ruin it I'm quite happy with the results and it will certainly help to rectify the total lack of Naval Aircraft in my collection.  One note that I will make is that I used MM clear flat for the top coat and the latest batch of this stuff leaves a bit of a dusty finish to it.  I've noticed though that after a week or two the dusty part disappears which I guess is after it fully cures.  Anyway, as a result you will see a difference in the finish where I masked around the canopies after my touch ups.

anyway, I'll shut up and post some pics.  Comments welcome as always.

Roy make that another vote for Showtime 100

Rick (Sir) my vote from your stash would go to the Grand Phoenix 1/48 FJ-4B Fury.  By all account one of the best fighters employed by the USN or USMC post war to Vietnam.  All it really lacked was an afterburner.

Cheers

Dave, good looking Avenger, especially from the old Academy kit.  I think this one was a redo of the even older Frog kit.  The Newer Academy 1/72 Helldiver is a Hell of a kit however.  You might want to give it a go lad.

I've had that kit on my list for awhile Rick, it just might have to move up to the top.  I especially like the fact that it has markings for an Atlantic scheme aircraft! Big Smile [:D]Propeller [8-]

A-ten-shun!!!

Admiral on deck.  Welcome aboard Admiral Rick (sorry, don't know your last name so it has to be "Admiral Rick"!)  My vote from your stash is the 1/72 Vigilante.  I love the lines of that aircraft, very Valkyrie-like!

Capt. Roy- my vote from your stash is the 1/48 Hasegawa SBD-4 (This way, I can see how their kit goes together as compared to the AM I am building!)

Dave and Darren- Thanks lads!  I am glad you like them.  Darren, I'd be happy to give you some pointers, but just remember- I screwed up the last Corsair I tried to build! Sigh [sigh]

Roy, our fearless C.A.G. seems to be on a Phantom kick (he wants an F-4B from me), so we better do as he orders. Another vote for 'Showtime'. Pirate [oX)]

Hey Roy,

Some know that I'm a die-hard prop guy....but I worked around F-4's for a couple years and love that a/c.

I'm with Darran.....go for the Showtime 100! I'm way back in the 1930's with the TBD.....so maybe we can fill out a nice roster of USN/USMC airplanes.
