Mike,

We'll miss around here my friend!  Good luck, we'll keep a glass filled here awaiting your return.  Take care, and we'll hopefully see you soon!

Hey guys, just want to let you all know that I'll be taking a bit of a vacation from the boards. Everything's cool....I just can't seem to be able to balance what free time I have between the forums and the workbench, so I am going to try a self-imposed sabatacle of sorts. Hopefully I'll have a few things to show for it when I get back. Save me some rum (if that's possible! Tongue [:P] ) and I'll see you soon.

Roy,

Couple of different ways you can use it:

1.)Just roll it out into a thin rope and arrange on the model. You can use tape or paper to cover the areas you don't want to paint. The diameter of your rope controls the degree of diffusion.

2.)Rather than holding the paper mask with your fingers, roll the Handitac into thin "snakes" and apply it to your model.  Then take your paper pattern and apply it to the top of the putty so that the paper is held only a milimeter or two off the model.  Spray your paint making sure your AB is pretty close to a 90 degree angle from the surface.  That should give you a fairly nice soft demarcation line.

Hope that helps! Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks Mike!  It was a lot of fun to do, though it took a while with all of the layers.

Same here, Roy. Oooooops. Still, as nam said, the FJ-4 is a nice looking jet, and so inspite of my total ignorance in regards to anything that flew after 1920, my vote still stands! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Dave, great work (as usual) on the Fulmar! Thumbs Up [tup] Your painting skills have always impressed the heck outta me, so I know I'm in for a real treat when you post one of your builds! As for the Future/Flat base, I start with a ratio of about 6 parts Future and 1 part Flat Base and go from there. My flatcoat of choice is Pollyscale Flat, but I always keep some of the Tamiya stuff around for emergencies.

Nam, it's in your profile, at the very bottom where it says  "Enable Email Notifications of replies to your posts."  Just click "no" and that should take care of it.

Nam, When you do a reply there is a box to check: Email me replies to this post.  Uncheck that box.

Darren, thanks for getting me the updated badge.  Someday I will have to learn how to do that.

Sorry Frank.....but I thought it a good idea at the time and meant to endorse it....just lost track. Gee....ever happen to anyone else here?.....the rum bottles CAG posts do look inviting though!

Question for you Frank....or anyone: I don't recall ever selecting an email notification about recent posts. I get FAA....which I don't need, looking here everyday....but now getting from another thread.....

Any idea how to shut these off?

Guys it's not a big issue for me to add USMC to the badge but I need the CAG to send me the original image he used.

Darren can you please email the original image without any text on it.  PM inbound in case you don't have my email address.

Roy I will re-do your sig for you with the revised GB Badge and email it back to you.

Cheers all

Heh....no rum here Frank, as you know, but I've had 2 short LONDON dry gins & tonics....but looking good when I can focus.

BIG NEWS! (mea culpa) ROY! I was totally off base voting for the F-4J.........I thought it was a Phantom variant.....FJ-4....different story! But I still vote for it after viewing the pics. Sorry.....I've never been within sight distance of an FJ-4 that I know of.

CAG Tango 1....someone (maybe Roy) mentioned adding USMC to the GB badge....meant to endorse that.....after your new work....is it possible?

Lt (jg) Namrednef

Oh, boy...

Somebody get this man some rum, QUICK!!! Shock [:O]

LOL, That was me with the USMC request.  Both of my 'birds for this GB are Marine aircraft, so I was hoping we could honor them as well.  Thanks a bunch guys! Thumbs Up [tup]

Thanks guys.  Today, I added the rocket/bomb controls to the dash, and also the associated wiring, then painted it all black.  Also glued the subwing parts and cleaned the seams.  She's beginning to take on the look of a Corsair!

Thanks guys for your comments, you're all far too kind as usuall. Smile [:)]  I'll dig up some poly scale flat next time I order online, none to be found around here. Sad [:(]

Frank, that corsair is going to look smashing.  Practise makes perfect as they say.

Thanks fellas.  She seems to be going more smoothly this time 'round, nice thing about botching a kit but saving most of the bits is when you do redo it, you sure end up with a lot of spare parts!  So if anyone breaks or loses a 1/48 Tamiya Corsair part, I probably have a replacement in my stash! Big Smile [:D]

Yee-haa!  It's a long weekend, and there's plenty o' rum!  Worked on the Corsair last night, and managed to get all of the fuse seams taken care of and re-scribed all of the detail on that long nose of hers.  There's a lot of panel lines and rivet detail that gets lost when doing the center seam, but with the right tools it's just a matter of taking the time to fix 'em up.  Here she is today:
