Frank...thanks for PM reply.....This evening (after side job work) Everything gets transferred downstairs to the new workstation! Been building a P-35 on my old drafting board....sitting on my bed. Sometimes kneeling at the bed (usually to pray)!

So my FAA Sea Glad gets unboxed tonight....(it's been crying..."build me, build me!")....and the adventure begins!

Please keep on my a** about finishing my 'getting feet wet' P-35 build. Don't want it falling by the wayside. So I need your help!

Dcapone,

lovely work on the Gannet so far. Your EDS Grey is a tad on the dark side, but with some weathering and shading it will look fine. To answer your earlier question, go for a semi gloss finish.

Looking forward to seeing more of this one, its a great looking build.Thumbs Up [tup]

Darren-

Cheers!  I'll drink to that. Make a Toast [#toast]

dcapone- excellent work!  Really like the PE exhaust, looks just like the real thing. Thumbs Up [tup]  As for the color, it does look a bit dark but the lightened centers of the panels should help lighten them up a bit.

Roy- Good luck!  I will definately keep my fingers crossed for you.

Nam- who ya building guitars for, buddy?

This is the first FAA aircraft I've EVER done.  I also hardly ever do braille scale.  But I just got the masking tape off of the initial color coats for my Gannet and though you FAA experts might like to take a whack at telling me what's wrong with it so far while I'm still in the mood to correct the deficiencies.

I know the initial Extra Dark Sea Grey is a bit on the dark side but I will be doing post shading and weathering and I wanted to be able to do all that and still leave the color correct at the end.

I have not painted the PE exhausts yet nor done any touch up.  It has a full PE interior which came out quite nicely except I won't be able to open these thick canopies so I'm not sure how much will be visible.

The wing fold is from Alley Cat and the bomb bay and ordinance came from FAA models.

More later as I continue with the project.

Good luch on your job interview!!  I just started a new job as well so I know how much "fun" it can be to go through the interview process.

I was wondering if any of you could tell me if the finish on an FAA Gannet should be semi-gloss or flat.  I'm managed a good color match to Extra Dark grey for the upper surfaces but I can't tell from my photos about the finish.  I'm leaning towards semigloss.

Here's the Gannet prior to the application of any color.  Not much to look at yet because I'm doing a resin Wing Fold on the kit.

The Hasegawa FRS.1 in 1/72 is pretty good on the airframe, you might want to add a little detail to the 'pit though. Their 1/72 AV-8B's  are meant to be quite nice-however I must admit that I have not built one myself.

Another alternative are the italeri kits in 1/72. They are'nt bad and come in some nice schemes.
