Great advice, and I really try to stick with that.  The last time I modelled when I was dog-tired I managed to break shatter a Swann-Morton scalpel blade which took a large chunk outta the fuslage I was working on and the piece that flew up put a large chip in the lens plate of my optivisor.  Lucky for me, I was wearing it (OK, I am ALWAYS wearing it!) so me eyes were protected.

Sorry to go off on a tangent, bummer about your bench time Darren.  Hope you are able to salvage any damage and kill TONS of zombies! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Gentlemen, I am finally home after a grueling week.  Work, snow removal, and sub-zero temps have taken it's toll.  I'm gonna kick back, relax, and take it easy tonight.  I have the next four days off so hopefully LOTS OF BENCH WORK!!!  And, tomorrow we have a high temp forecast of above zero!  I am so excited!  Hopefully, it's the end of these 35 degree below zero wind chills.  BRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Gents, a toast.  To everyone, wherever you are take a moment to think about the ones who can't be here with us today.  And to Roger, hopefully all is well for him.  Cheers mate!

Strange you should mention that Roy, because after I got everything cleaned up that's exactly what I did.

Yeah Frank and CAG.....got everything moved down there and mostly permanently put away, but I've been following some threads by others about paint bottle storage so I'm going to build a better system for that, and so have to move one shelf that I hung too low.

You should've seen me.....placed my Sea Glad kit on the bench and was......well, stumped! Had everything right there......kit, paint, tools, all the room in the world to work and didn't know where to begin! Far cry from my 18x24 drawing board!

Only need to pick up a cheap office-type chair.....all I have is a rather high wooden bar-type stool.

Dcapone,

The post shading looks good! Be careful with those exhaust stains-you don't want to over do it.Wink [;)]

'Nam-great to hear you're building in style! Lets have a pic of your workspace!

Donald my reference pics show only light exhaust staining on the Gannet.  I would go very easy replicating this staining on your model as a little will be a lot.

Reference pics I've seen show definite evidence of exhaust staining ranging from fairly light to fairly heavy, but no where near what can be seen on Skyraiders.

The Eduard set comes with four of the exhausts because they are a pain to bend.  I used a piece of styrene rod the same diameter as the kit exhausts and ignored the instructions which say to put them in after the fuselage is closed up.  I secured them in the proper location before the fuselage was closed and I think that's the best option.

I'm still going to hit them with some Metallizer colors to make them look burned.

I have a question about exhaust staining.  Does the TP in this bird cause the same heavy exhaust staining that you find on say a Skyraider?  I've only got museum bird for my photo references and they are clean as a whistle.  I can imaging quite a swirl along the rear fuselage from those exhausts but don't have photos yet to support my supposition.

Any of your FAA experts have any information?

Now, darnit! See Roy.....I can't get the oversized files for pics. I'm actually afraid to try.

But then again.....I be building now! At a bench! With real tools!....(Gotta get this PC down there so I can keep an eye on you scoundrels!)

Did a bit of sprue painting of small parts.....dry fitted some stuff.....the Sea Glad is no longer a virgin.Make a Toast [#toast]Make a Toast [#toast]

The post shading has improved the EDS Grey quite a bit.  Here's the first layer of post shading.  I've just gloss coated everything so I can start decaling tomorrow and then begin weathering.

The flash is shifting the color to a bluer hue than it looks to the eye.  I think it's coming along fine.

Sorry there is no more football in the Big WI, but the Giants needed this one.....because we basically stink.

Keep an eye on CAG though......he's on some kind of mission

Huh? What?....Yessir CAG.....present and accounted for!.....uh, Sir! Glad you found your bottle Sir!

LT (jg) *urp* Namrednef upheld the hallowed foundations of this rum group, by installing heat in a mini-mart that was badly in need. Sacrificed parts of a few days Sir! (pardon my wobble) ...in order to accomplish this. They paid me money Sir!

I might add that comely lady of the Indian/Hindu persuasion (6'-2" and legs all the way to the AB)....pardon Sir!

No modeling today, Sir!.....I was rather.....er, admiring models....er....Nevermind Sir!

(Anything left in that bottle CAG?)                   *Burp*

Nam- As for the locating pins, I have found that some joints fit together better with the pins, others w/o.  Guess it just depends on the fit with 'em before I cut them off.  On the Tamiya Corsair, I did remove the pins on the outer wing panels to help the fit.  HTH!
