Sean, the TBD looks like it just came off the assembly line, very clean and a super job on all that canopy framing.  Usually not my favorite part of a greenhouse model build.  Are you going to trash it up with some weathering now?  I hate doing that do a model that has turned out so well.

Not much weathering on the Seafang either, but it's a legal finish because there were kept pretty clean.  Just some Tamiya Smoke for exhaust stains and a few unplanned blemishes that replicate paint touch up. Whistling [:-^]

So here it is.  The props, wheels, gear doors, and gear legs are white metal, everything else is low pressure molded plastic.  The surface detail is well done and very fine.  I tried to end up with a satin finish, but it is still a bit more to the gloss side than I expected.  The cockpit is almost all True Details for a Mk. V, looks good to me.

John- You are modeling at Aaron's pace!  And, turning out beautiful work while doing it too.  Well done, love that mean looking prop on the nose. Approve [^]

Mr. Summit; as a Lt. you have shown bravery in the face of, um, bad decals; to wit thats a hard watch. On accord of that we commend you and give you a reprieve from gun drills which commence at 2 Bells of the Morning Watch. Better to sleep it off, son.

A fine model, worthy of our Hall of Fame which doesn't exist, XO.

A certain Ventura might be there too.

I'm hosting this Friday at 8 Bells on the second Dog Watch (8pm pdt to you lubbers). A viddie clippie will be presented, and we would hope that the Buzzards on the Bridge mighten come down to join us.Pirate [oX)]

John -  I really like the Sea Fang. Multiple props has to be the coolest looking setup. Its a wonder the rudder didnt get blown off from the prop wash... I have a Airfix Seafire FR46 I hope to get to someday.... Thanks for the comments on my "Out of Date build" And no I wont dirty up the Devastator too much - maybe some exhaust streks with some pastel and that will be about it. Those Navy guys run a tight ship and keep their stuff looking good..

Richie - Thank you, I hope to do another some day in NMF. (I have plenty of kits from buying them trying to match the blue roundell)

And to the rest of the crew for commenting  Merci  Beaucoup  Pirate [oX)]

Frank -  I have been finishing up that other build in 1/32 scale as I am ready to start on the Sea Gladiator.

A video from Capt. Bondo ? The Suspense is too Much..

Excellent Sean! Uh that original decal in the picture looked fine to me? Censored [censored]

I like the clean look on that devestator!  Another one of my first models!  I need to try to find one of those again! Bow [bow] Great save! Looking forward to the Sea Gladiator! Great choice and hear there is a good PE set out from Edward made just for it!  You outta look at Joining Frank and Guy in the aftermarket detailing extravaganza they are undertaking with their Swordfish....  Where are they anyways??..Whistling [:-^]

The SeaFang John is the first I have ever seen of it! Very unique and facinating subject superbly rendered and completed! Thumbs Up [tup]Propeller [8-]Bow [bow]

Looking forward to seeing the inprogress pics from the younger fresher minded crew! Amzing to watch the skills progress so rapidly!  Might have to switch to root beer.... Naaah! Make a Toast [#toast]Pirate [oX)]

Oh any word when the CAG may return?  Probably get home from holiday and off to work right off! Sad [:(] Ah but I have been working a couple hard days in a row now as well and it serves to make the bench time and our cruise together all the more enjoyable! Make a Toast [#toast]Pirate [oX)]

Ah poor Nammie... I really wish he would resurface at least for a breath of air. Boohoo [BH]

Chester that is a great start!  Is that a 1/72 Tempest?  I am behind the times .

Sean sounds like you are going to start your own torpedo squadron !

Been working my tail off all week which is ok  as I got plenty to spare. I did manage some time on the bench this evening.

This model is actually a lot of challenging work to be sure.  Without sounding to persnickety, the fit isn't too terribly aweful with careful clean up of mal placed ejector pin marks and resin mold blocks but any misplaced or misaligned part can throw off the entire assembly. Dry fitting is so critical on these limited run beasties!

A great example is the huge greenhouse! One large clear part. Well made and very clear but if you have made any error in the vague instructions it will be a difficult fit. All the more critical made by the top wing attaching to it.

As you can see the dry fit shows it to pass inspection. Huge relief! Whistling [:-^]  The pictures of this phase really reveal the large size of this aircraft. The Top wing is a full 12.5 inches long. A big bird with a little engine. Must have been very scary to see a 109 given the antiquated performance of this bomber.

Well I am almost out of kit parts and entering the painting phase. Two things that I see that must be added are the rigging in the wings ( got any tips or hints Guy? Evil [}:)])and the ordinace which is notably absent in this kit.  Already working on creating a crew as you can see!  All is going according to plan so far! Thumbs Up [tup]

Great to see so many jumping right into this great GB! Thanks all! Wink [;)]

Aaron, that is really looking good!!!!!Thumbs Up [tup]Approve [^] Glad to see a different Fairey product!!! As far as rigging goes, in that scale I would use fishing line, or nylon mending thread. th thread can be had in clear or blackish. Both tighten up nicely with an incense stick waved underneath. HTH Smile [:)]

Chester thats a great start you got going there. Your going to have that thing done in no time.

Aaron, that looks like a fantastic kit. Its a wierdo and you know how i likey them. As for the rigging, I use invisible mending thread. Its the smoke coloured and works a treat. If the thing is just dryfitted at the mo, drill teeny holes where the rigging goes so that once assembled you can fit it fairly easily. Good luck, remember (Repeat after me) Rigging is fun, rigging is fun, rigging is fun.

Hey Bondo, wheres this Video youve been promising. It better not have nekidness?

Dang Aaron, that Albacore is looking goooood!  The engine looks pretty sweet too!  Got any close ups of it....just for fancy's sake Big Smile [:D]

I will try and get some pics up of the Sea Harrier soon.  Have not had a whole lot of time to work on her, but I did get the body buttoned up and the stabilizers on.  I swear, body seams are the bane of my experience level right now, but I pushed through and I think everything will turn out nice.  Now just got to get them wings to sit on her right! (I hear a common problem with Harrier kits is getting the wing tip wheels to touch the ground properly).

"Build" isn't used around here too much as a verb, more of an ethos. You have all the time to develop your skills that you desire, plus it'll no doubt morph into another build down the line. Note that USN builds are still welcome and in the landing pattern. Welcome aboard, grab a mug.

XO it's eight bells on the afternoon watch, time for the afternoon crew to relieve themselves over the rail; and call the first dog watch. Where's that CAG, and where in the heck is Nam?

Not too much to report on the Sea Gladiator , considering I spent most of the day messing with it.

The exhaust piping mounts on the back of the engine then there are 18 - 6 mm long tips that get cemented to the pipes and the inner ring of the cowl. Blindfold [X-)]

New-To quote the great Texas singer/songwriter Robert Earl Keene "The road goes on forever and the party never ends."

John-Nice work on the Sea Fang.

Sean-Nice work on the Devastator.

Aaron-What the heck you building now?

Chester-Looking forward to watching your build progress.  I've got the Trumpeter kit in my stash as well.  Trying to decide whether to build it or the Airfix Sea Fury, after I finish my hybrid Corsair.
