Roger-

That's good news!  Glad you were able to locate your wandering aircrew, would hate for the pilot to have to go out on a mission w/o someone to keep an eye on his six.  Those dive brakes should keep you busy for quite a while- lots of holes to drill!  I have an AM Dauntless that is about 50% finished, but it's a slow project due to poor fit around the wing/fuse, and the the cowl parts.

Roy- Now THAT'S a good deal!

I remember that kit when I was a kid Big Smile [:D]....those were the daysTongue [:P]  I have never really tried my hand at painting crew members.  After you finish that SBD you should try the Accurate Miniatures SBD.  Get an idea of how things changed over the years.  I saw that kit in Hobby Lobby last night, picked it up and all most got it.  Instead I found Hasegawa's 1/72 Ju88A-4 on clearance for $12.40, marked down from $44.99.  It was a find I could not pass up on.

Anyway look forward to seeing your progress on the SBD.

I do have some good news here! I found that AWOL gunner! But sufficed to say, the guy will be on KP till the end of this build! I've learned that when you have a carpet the same color as your flight crew, you want to take extra caution to make sure you have accoutibility of all your parts. I feel silly......Blush [:I]

Anyways, This is the first time i've actually posted pictures on my WIP here:

As you can see, i have the cockpit installed and the fuselage halves together. Also got the lower halves of the wings and the stabilizer on there as well. I'll admit, it's not the nicest kit of the Dauntless ever. This one had alot of flash to cut and i can already tell that i'll have alot of seams to fill. Also with this kit, the air brakes are solid (as you know, the real thing had vented flaps). To fix this, i'll be taking the time to drill out each individual hole on this thing, so i expect that to take some time before i'm ready for paint. But that wont be for awhile.

But i have to say that the flight crew was the most hair ripping venture thus far. Pretty poorly moulded, in my opinion. That, and the fact that i'm no good at painting figures, i've had to repaint them 3 times. After my best efforts, they still look like men from outer space!Alien [alien] Maybe the pilots will come easier in other kits here...

Anyways, i know i've still got alot ahead of me here, but i welcome any comments and suggestions! Thanks!

Warmest regards,

Roger

Well i feel stupid! I missed this post entirely! I'm in! What are the guidelines for the gift exchange?

Roger,

Just PM me your mailing address and the era and scale kit you would like and that's it.  This is just a simple Christmas gift exchange among friends of the FAA GB.

No worries mate!  Some of us over here across the pond observe daylight savings time (me included!) next weekend, so it's an extra hour in the bunk next weekend. Big Smile [:D]

A quick update from me.......

Even though I have been on leave all week, I haven't been in the workshop too much, been doing a lot of family stuff, so the the rest of the tribe have gone out for the day so that I can have some workshop time. My B-25 is all glossed up, so today I will be putting the decals on this bird and adding a little more to the base.

Hopefully, I wil be able to share some pics later. I really want to get this one finished so I can get stuck into some of the other nice things in my stash.................

Well, i know i am waaaaaay behind the power curve here, but here is a bit of an update on my build. Spent some time working with the inards, and i'm hoping to at least have a completed cockpit by the end of saturday. But, i gotta problem here.

I LOST THE FRIGGIN GUNNER!!!!!!!!!!

I'm looking and looking, but it seems this lazy swabbie here went AWOL on me! Rats! Not sure yet, but my pilot may just be flying solo here......Sigh [sigh]

Roger

Great looking work Dave, it's a pity you didn't have them finished for the Eagles Day comp, they would have been sure fire winners.

Cheers

Just thought I would post some images of the two models in the 'close to completed' stage.

The canopies require cleaning and the small parts need to be put on but they are definately getting closer to finished!
