Well, I shot white for the belly and wing undersides and have begun masking to shoot the dark sea blue.  Man this part is turning out to be much more time involved then I thought (would have been MUCH easier if I had left off the weapons pylons and put them on later...oh well, lesson learned!)  I HOPE to have the dark sea blue applied by the end of the week.  Then it will be a home run from there!

Also starting to rethink the Douglas Boston for a second build.  I started a little work on it, but I fear the gaping...MASSIVE....gaps and poor fitting pieces are way beyond my current skill level to fix.  I think I will look around for something more workable to replace it in this GB.  Stay tuned!

Greetings there, fellas! Sorry I've been away, but the new hobby room/home reno is finally nearing completion, so, if it's OK, I'd like to join in on FAAGB part 3 with a 1/48 Tamiya Swordfish. I won't be starting on it for at least a month or two, but I figured I'd get one foot in the door in the meantime.

Great to see you guys again, and I'm looking forward to having as much fun with this one as I did with the first. Cheers, lads!! Make a Toast [#toast]

Figured I'd throw in a few progress pics (in chronological order)....

As you can see, there's been no time for plastic.

Thanks Richie! I'm really gettin' antsy to get back to the bench (once I've got one, that is! Wink [;)] ).

Under the cover is the wife's pride and joy ..... a fully restored 1965 327ci Acadian Beaumont convertable (they only made about 500 total). I'll dig up a few pics! Thumbs Up [tup]

Looks awesome Mike!!!  Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow]  Been wondering what you've been up to. When your all done you can make your way down here.   My wife's list is growing faster than I can get it done. Sad [:(]

Nothing quite like getting your own hobby space though.  I was about to ask what was under the cover too but Ritchie beat me too it.

Thanks Dave! Yep, it's been a major project. Pretty much all of our spare time has been going into it. The room is about 9x10, fully insulated & barriered on 2x4 studs (2x6 on the outer wall where the window is) and concrete footings that go down about 4 feet. The garage goes 20x30.

The best part is that the wife now gets a full room in the house all to herself which will serve as an office/craft room - something she's always wanted. She's in her glory, and that's what counts to me.

....and I'll let ya know when I get some time off, my friend. Wink [;)]

Richie, my wife has some nice shots of it. We just had the top replaced a few months ago (old one had a good 25 years on it) and recently added some nice fully chromed half moon rims. I'll ask her to send some pics to me, and I'll post 'em here. Thumbs Up [tup] The pics I have now are not as recent - I wanna post some good ones she just took.

Hey buddy! I'll do my best - it's been a while, so I might be a bit rusty. Hopefully when I reach for my hobby knife I don't grab the circular saw out of habit! Wink [;)]

Ruddatt, thats quite the project to complete over the summer especially with only your free time. Kudos on being a modern renaissance man.

cropredy thanks for posting the fruits of your research... I may be inclined to pick up one of the books you recommended and read about Taranto. I think my recent resurgence of interest in modeling has been kindled by reading accounts of the British Military's exploits in the early cold war period. From Malay, Korea, the defence of Hong Kong to the Suez, they fought a lot of tough battles. Having the opportunity to build their machines after reading the exploits makes it all the more exciting.

Shock [:O]

*must avert mine eyes before I get smacked*

How 'bout a warning next time, Frank? My wife might be looking in! Tongue [:P]

Thanks Neu, you are way too kind. Believe me, I've had a LOT of help. This is one of those situations where experience definitely counts.

...and now guys, here's what was under the cover (though it might pale a bit in comparison to what Frank just posted Wink [;)] ...

Mike I can see why that is your wife's pride and joy beautiful car.  Richie is right it looks like a 64-65 Chevelle.

On the home front I am not getting much done on the Kingfisher.  It seems that when you are about to put a $300,000 bid on a house you don't have much time.  My house has been on the market for about 9 days and I already have one bid.  My wife and I are bidding on a house in the neigborhood I gre up in tonight.  I have 8 years left on my current mortgage and I'll be going tback to a 30 so that kinda sucks but the house is really nice and I will have room for a dedicated hobby room.  Keeping my fingers crossed. I guess you only live once.

Frank,

Nice shirt.  Good thing you got the nurse with you in case of an allergic reaction.

Well so much for that.  The sellers were insulted by my offer so they refused to make a counter offer.  Screw em let them sit on the house for few months

There's an easy fix for that. Rent a debris box and have it set at their front door step.
