tempestjohnnyNice props. Gator cup in background too. My daughter is taking her entrance exams to go to UF for grad school. I might be a Gator Dad.
Thanks tempestjohnny. I hope your daughter gets in! I've been a die hard gators fan since I was old enough to really understand football. So, I may be a little biased, but I think it's the best school. Lol.

That looks great Jean. I love the Lancaster, such a heavy lifter.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Beautiful job on the Lancaster!! I know those canopies can be a pain, but you nailed them perfectly!
Grab a rum ration, you earned it matey!

Beautiful finish on the Lanc! Not very FAA, but...

Thanks, all youse!
Stik, be'in that most a tha group is so deep in the grog this year's edition is open to both FAA and RAF, next year we'll get back to alternating.
Beautiful job Admiral. In 1/48 it must take up a lot of realestate!
25 1/2 inch span, 17 inches long, Dave. About the same as the Revell B-17F it sits next to. Kinda makes the B-17 look like a low rider with that stork like landing gear.
I suppose a Liberator or a Condor would look good next to the Fort and Lanc...

Officially adding it to my "to-do" list. I love building the bigger 2 and 4 engine aircraft.
'Scusin' yer pee stained britches yer excellency, yeh be talkin' to me?
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
That I would, laddie, that I would....
Got gum on them bucklers, do ya? Or ya been nailed ta the ceilin' whilst in a drunken stupor.
Yeah, Stik, I fear there is a Liberator in my future, but not my near future. Such an ungainly beast.
Paint is complete except for the upper surfaces of the lower wings. Need to figure out the rigging before I paint those though. A quick pic to show the progress. For any of you planning to do a Taranto ship you might want to know what this tank is for. It is not shown in the instructions anywhere and it was not until I did some reading on the Taranto raid that I discovered that an extra tank was installed in place of the middle seat in order to get the range they needed for the raid. Of course this discovery was made after I had closed up the fuselage.
So as said, I plan on Wyvern S-4. Dug out the kit and got ready to start putting pieces together and low and behold I forgot the kit has a full complement of PE, cockpit, wingfolds, landing gear wells, ALOT. S I'm gonna dive in and see what kind of damage I can do. Bought the kit at a show a few years back in southern Loiusiana and completely forgot I basically paid for the Eduard PE. I like little suprises like that. Perhaps I will post pte start pix tonight.
we're modelers it's what we do
Finally finished the little Airfix Chipmunk trainer... didn't come out too bad for a 45 Yr old 89 cents kit. Decals came from spares of course orignals were shot.
Great looking little plane there, tonka.
Hope to be back at it soon y'all. Been busy gettin my mom settled back in after surgery, and had a relative pass away unexpectedly. So, things have been a little hectic as of late.
Keep the pics of the great work coming. I'm not very skilled at painting and detailing models yet, and all the pics of y'all's superb work keeps me from settling for mediocrity in my own builds.
Tonka, I have added this photo to the FAA Roster page. Nice work!

Thanks!! Now where do I get the badge?? Or do we not need any stinkin' badges!!
FArmboy --sorry about the relative passing...and hope you Mom feels better
I need to make one for this year, give me a week or so.
Ahoy mateys here be the promised pictures of the mighty Wyvern. should be cemecnting parts soon. Man that Big Ed photo etch set has ALOT of bits. Gonna be fun.
A round for all the lads here in honor of the Wyverns arrival!
I'll dri,k to that, even if it is my post LOL, and I have to work tomorrow. All Hail the Wyvern. Or as my friend Darth Laboriuos calls it " Jimmy D'arante with wings".
Tonka, nice job on the little Chipmunk!
Wannabe farmer, going through a lot of health issues at my house to. Hang in there!
Amornut. Great subject choice. Looking forward to your build.
As for the Swordfish the wings are now glued on and the rigging was attached to the upper wing before attaching it. Gluing the rigging to the bottom wing should be lots of fun. I still have some work to do on the motor but then it is just wheels, torpedo and a few other fiddly bits.
Cheers!

Until 1942,
"With the coming of war, the FAA's aircraft were quickly done up in camouflage colours. Initially they were in Dark Sea Grey and Extra Dark Slate Grey (a greenish colour to you and I), with the upper surfaces of the lower wings being in Dark Sea Grey and Light Slate Grey to provide shadow compensation from the upper wing. The undersurfaces are in Sky Grey (NOT Sky)"

The Swordfish is lookin great, dwsrazor.
Thought things would be slowing down again. It has not turned out that way. I'm itchin to make more progress on the Beaufighter though. Hoping I'll actually have something to post as an update after this weekend. Shouldn't be an issue since the weather won't be good for fishing the next few days. Lol.
Thanks Wannabe.
Hey all, managed to wrap this up last night so here is my contribution to the fight. This is the Airfix 1/72 kit.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the builds.
