That Wyvern looks great LA. Nice aircraft from a great era. I love the early post war years, so much variety.
Cheers
Tony
I'm just taking it one GB at a time.
stikpusher Its not like the Microscale kit is complicated... I built their YF-102 long ago... perfect kit for a single session.

I have the YF-102 also, I wish they had done it in 1/48 instead of 1/60.

Thanks Tony, I reckon the Poms did some great designs after the war
So I did the gloss coat after decals and got a big white spot on the wing and tailplane. Forgot to take a photo. So I tried to sand them back, no luck so I had to do a touch up.
and when I got the masking off, it was the wrong colour! Do'h!!
So start again....
Thats a real bummer. The model is worth taking the trouble to fix it properly though.
Thanks Tony,
Found the correct colour, which looked better:
Then got her up on her legs
And I have stuck a full load under the wings:
So it's coming along pretty well so far...
Much better! Getting close now.
Getting closer and closer - sticking bits and pieces on to finish up. The bang seat is together and PE belts glued on. The cockpit was uncovered and the seat went in.
Then the canopy and the props went on. The counterrotating props are geared by trumpeter, so they work as they should - a cute touch.
So final touches to go, then the presentation photos to finish with...
And here is the finished Wyvern!!
The Trumpeter kit was great to build, and I love the shape of the Wyvern - reckon it would make a great Unlimited Racer...
John, thank you very much for keeping the FAA build going, it has been great fun.
Piers
You're welcome, Piers! That's a fine looking Wyvern. I'll put that first photo on the completion thread. And thank you for helping keep the FAA GB moving along.
Extra rations o' grog all around, maties! It be'in Friday an' all.
Wow Piers, that thing is stunning. I have the kit too, I might have too. It looks so complex with those contra rotating props, I love it.
I'm planning to start my Matchbox Hunter on 1 August. Hopefully it will be a pretty quick one.
I've made a start, progress photos so far....
Admiral, this man needs to get an armchair in the ready room.
Excellent in every way.
Reno Unlimited rules require jugs, so sorry no go at Stead, but a sharp model.
The Hunter is such a beautiful aircraft. look forward to the build.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Ahoy, matey, I'll put a note on the roster that yer startin'! It be'in near Friday don't ferget to put a portion of yer rum ration the Admiral's way...
I'll be starting the stringbag very soon. I have a couple builds moving off the bench shortly then I can start.
Steve
Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Thanks for the kind words GM, Tony and your admiralness
Tony, I thought that kit looked familiar, looked in the decal stash and I still have the left over decals from however long ago...
Looking forward to how it builds up, looks like a striking scheme and Steve's stringbag too.
OK Admiral, I'm starting the stingbag. I have been looking forward to this build for a while because it has most of what I like. It's British, it's a biplane, and it's Navy. I purchased the Tamiya PE set and Eduard IP and belt set. I will be using the "Bismarck attack" markings but I can't find any info for 2P/V4372 so I don't know which carrier it was stationed on.
Great, Steve, this will be fun.
Oh, Sorry, Admiral speak'in here, never you mind that guy behind the curtain, ye be sure ta' git yer chores in line while yer do'in this, swabby! And no slip ups on the Stringbag, we don't want that thing foulin' the decks on take-off!
Aye Aye Admiral.
I completed the cockpit but still have a several things to do before closing the fuse.
Oops, this is something I didn't read before I purchased them......too late.
I've come to the conclusion that PE adds 5 to 10 fold to the build time.
I closed up the fuselage today.
Nice Steve.
I've done quite a bit on the Swordfish, got the wings together and installed on the center section. I also have been painting along the way. I still have quite a bit to do installing more PE and the rigging before I can start wrapping it up.
All real nice, especially the engine detail.
Looking great Steve
Some better pictures of the L'Arsenal 1/400 Swordfish on Heller 1/400 HMS Illustrious on 1940.11.11 Battle of Taranto
Two squadrons - painted differently, custom decals, individual tail numbers.
cropredy
That's very well done display, good work! Do you have any patience left?
Very impressive there Crop, painting all those microscopic planes must have taken some time!
And very nice work on the Illustrious and the seascape too.
It's been a while Admiral but I just have a few more things to do to the Stringbag then it will be complete.
Looking good, Steve.
Master and Comander,
I finally completed the Swordfish. It was a super nice kit. the pieces fit like a glove. One peice of advice though. If you are using the Tamaya PE set, put the wings together in sequence of the instructions. I can remember why I didn't but the rigging was a nightmare afterward. Following the instructions would have been far easer.
Thank you for continuing to run this awesome GB. I apologise for not getting to is far sooner and will subject myself to whatever punishment you deem fit.
