With everything else on my plate, I'll have to pass on the birthday idea, but I'm still very in for the secret Santa. Thumbs Up [tup]

The birthday exchange was an idea I put out there to see the response.  As for the Santa exchange that could be fun.  I was thinking of doing a group think with the members of our three GBs.  Not necessarily a GB as a Secret Santa GB, just a GB between us.  If you the group as a whole want to create a Secret Santa GB then that will work also.  We still have six months to work out the details.

I would be interessed to know a bit more about it though if you don`t mind

and to end..lets all take a little moment in gratitude on this day in honour of all those who gave their life to combat tyrrany 63 years ago and who is willing to do the same thing today

Well done for remembering D-day fella's.Thumbs Up [tup] I attended a small ceremony at work, I have been "on duty" from 05.30 to 22.00, so no drinks for me!

I like the secret santa idea, sounds like it would be a great thing for us to do.Thumbs Up [tup]

I'm still looking to find some workshop time, but no joy so far......still tomorrow is my last shift for a few days, so I have informed the family that I will be wanting some modelling R&R.Wink [;)]

Thank you very much Frank.  Speaking of those who served how many of us have been or still in the military?  For myself I spent 12 years in the military.  Outside of my meeting my wife and the birth of my son it was the best time of my life.  The best unit I served with was the 187th Infantry regiment of the 101st, I was an infantryman.  My model build was on hold during that time and I didn't get back into it until college.

Mike and Frank, you will be glad to hear that I work a bit on my Corsair.  I had some free time away from getting ready for the big move.  I cleaned up the resin cockpit set and some parts of the Corsair.  My plan is that when I'm set up in Florida all that's left it to paint, glue, paint and decal Big Smile [:D] Oh, and of course post pics

Thanks again Roy!

Your plan about the move sounds the same as mine- have everything ready on the Corsair up to the paint stage, so when you get all moved you can start on the fun stuff, painting!

That's the plan at least.  By the way I have yet to post some pics of the P-40N I told you about.

Which P-40N are you working on?  I have a Hasegawa P-40E about half finished, just needed to take a break from it after all of the filling and sanding.

started this kit back in 1998 before I moved to California.  Al that there is to do is attach the clear part and the drop tank.  I have already applied a flat clear coat but I was thinking can I apply a gloss coat over that?  I want to try some of the weather techniques I learned from you guys.  Of course it most likely will have to wait till after the move.  It's a Mauve 1/48 P-40N, the one with the large hawk on the nose.  It has a True Details resin cockpit.  It is a very good kit, very little if any filling.

Hi there gents, I have been away a while thanks to work. Hopefully in the next two weeks I will manage to do some more work on the Firefly and the Barracuda. I'm off to the Melbourne Model Expo this long weekend in Melbourne to run a stand for the Aussie Modeller web site, then i'm having a knee operation on wednesday. The knee op gives me at least nine days off so hopefully some more work will get done on a model, this has been lacking for the last month or two.

I spent a year and a half in the norwegian navy as a draftee, and a good 14 months in tha army in the norwegian army as a UN soldier in Lebanon. So all sums up to two and a half year in uniform for me

Thanks for checking in, Dave! Modeling time has been lacking for me as well (home projects) but I hope to be back at the bench soon.

Roy, nice to see you modeling again my friend! Can't wait to see some pics of that Corsair! Thumbs Up [tup]

All I have done is clean the parts up.  Yet it feels good to do something Party [party] other then prepare the house to go on the market and for the move.  I'm starting to really dislike moving Yuck [yuck]

Only starting to dislike it? Wink [;)]

That is something I hope I never have to do again. Each time my wife says we need a bigger house (and she says that a lot!), I cringe and reply "let's just build on to this one." LOL!

What makes it hard is that all my paints and supplies are boxed up.  All I have out are a few kits and a few X-acto knives and sand paper.  I'm excited about the idea of creating a work area hence asking you guys what yours looks like.  By the way our next house will be bigger than this one so that's a plus.

I feel your pain, Roy!  I've had about as much moving as I can stand.  After working 11 hour days, I go to the old place to pack and load then deliver and unload it at the new house.  Worse part is, my g/f is in Missouri this week, my bro is in Iowa, and my parents are in South Dakota!  Except for the REALLY heavy stuff, I have been doing it all myself.

My model bench is mostly set up, but I still don't have a kitchen!  At lease I have my priorities in order... Dunce [D)]

Yuck [yuck] Seriously I couldn't think of anything worse, well actually I could but not in terms of food.

Just letting you guys know that I'm still alive and kicking on this build but I haven't progressed very far to date.  This weekend is the Australian Model Expo held here in Melbourne and I have been going flat out preparing my entries.  Hopefully after this weekend I can start building for fun again.

Cheers

I will be at the expo all weekend at the Aussie Modeller Table right next to Frank Morgan of Model Art, so come on by and say hello! I am planning on taking a great deal of photos for the site so I may even snap some of your kits.

I've spent the day catching up with some gardening and some rest after a busy week at work, I'll be starting to weather my corsair over the weekend, and hopefully get that much closer to finishing her.
