Thanks Roy! I appreciate that. Gotta admit, hinomarus are about the simplest markings to mask. Mike really saved my backside with not only a replacement set of markings, but the markings of the plane I was trying to do in the first place! Thanks again Mike!
Alain,
For round markings, an OLFA cutter (similar to an adjustable compass with a blade) really works well once you get the hang of it. I cut dozens of circles until I had a set that looked good to me. For straight lines, code letters, and such, 'bout the best way I have found is to find a scale drawing of the markings you want to use, and make a copy of them so you can lay a piece of frisket film (from an artist supply store) and cut through the frisket following the lines from underneath on your copy. Now peel the backing off of the frisket film, and you have a mask that you can use for painting. Hope this helps!
Darren-
That Corsair is looking sweet! I like the way you dirtied up the underside, really has that abused look. Did you use washes for that?
