Oh......All right then!

Gentlemen,

here is my Supermarine Seafire FR.47. This machine flew with No. 800 NAS, Fleet Air Arm from HMS Triumf  during the Korean War.

The kit is in 1/48 scale and made by Airfix. Its built OOB with the exception of dropped elevators, PE seat harness and a very generous donation of decals by our very own Frank. Thanks mate!Wink [;)]

Right then, here she is.....

Darren that is simply amazing Bow [bow]Bow [bow]Bow [bow] and the others are right the base really does set the model off beautifully.

Build wise for me I have been progressing with the Sea Fury but I haven't had a chance to be on-line much at all lately due to real life commitments.  I'm off for a couple of weeks of (well earned) holidays next week so I'll post some snaps of the kit when I return.

Cheers

Congratuations Dave.  Might want to check with Espins1 (Scott) over in the Panzer Aces GB or Kursk GB (Armor)-he is living in Reno (I think)

Darren (Tango)-very nice job.  I especially like the base.

The Hellcat has been given an oil wash and darkened a bit (thanks for the tip Darren/Darson).  Hopefully I can give it a coat of Future and decal this weekend.

I was in Reno about a year ago, there was a decent LHS but I don't remember the name. A search through the phonebook when you arrive should find it.

A quick google search shows several in the area, High Sierra Hobbies looks promising, I think that might be the one I went to.

That Seafire is great, I love the 1950's contra-rotating prop aircraft. Be nice to see a kit of that in 1/72.

I simply haven't had the time to really get much building done since moving in March but I did pick up a stack of 1/72 WW1 aircraft while at the IPMS nats last week and have nearly finished an Airco DH2, nice quick little build (only 2 days of sporadic building and its almost finished).

Anyway I kind of have the WW1 bug going and one of the kits I got was Revell's Sopwith Camel that comes with a colorful set of Royal Naval Air Service decals. As the RNAS was the ancester of the FAA any chance I could slip this one in here? Perhaps consider it a warm up to the Knights of the air GB. Smile [:)]  If not I'll probably end up doing the Swordfish in the early silver scheme since I just don't have the time to do a build requiring the airbrush and it is a biplane so fits into the powered kites bug that I have at the moment.

Excellent hobby store, that's where I buy 80% of my kits and all my supplies.  Big Smile [:D]  In fact, I'll be heading there shortly to get some more standing sticks.

I've lived in Reno since December of 1985 so I'll be more than happy to help you out with anything you want to know and can give you some great suggestions on restaurants, brew pubs and the like.  If you have a few minutes free while you're here, we should at the very least meet at the hobby store.   Smile [:)]

That would be cool Scott.  Once I get all the details I'll let you know what our plans are and it would be nice to have a chance to meet you. I believe we're being put up in the Harrah downtown so if you have a list of resteraunts in the area that you could PM to me that would be much appreciated.  OH ya, and I'm sure my wife will want to know where to go shopping -aka mall Dead [xx(]!

Hello chaps!

Just thought I'd check in and see what everyone is up to. As previously mentioned, I am taking a little break from my ever expanding collection of FAA builds and progress on my B-25 is slow to say the least. When I eventually have something worth showing I will post it over of the Aircraft forum. In the meantime, check in and let me know what yiou are up to..........

What am I up to....?  Had a bit of the flu over the weekend, so my three open builds stayed static, for the most part.  Did get a coat of Future on the Hellcat, so I may decal it tomorrow pm.  Still not happy with the paint, but I'm going to live with it.  Maybe some post weathering with pastels will help.

btw Darren, which B-25 are you building?  I've got the Accurate Miniatures C/D Pacific straffer sitting in the stash awaiting a big enough time window to do it justice (or at least try).  Or maybe just build it outside of a group build.

Unfortunately I am not up to anything model related at the moment.  My boss is away and I'm running off my feet trying to keep up.  Don't know when I'll get to my Fulmar for this build.  Hopefully soon.

Darren-

I'll keep my eyes peeled over in Aircraft for that one!

I haven't been at the bench much lately, been fighting some health issues that have me down for a while.  Hopefully will get some relief soon, though! Yuck [yuck]

Hey fella's-get some rest and take things easy. I hope those of you under the weather feel better soon.Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup] Now.....report to the M/O for your tot of rum!!Pirate [oX)]Make a Toast [#toast]

Bob- My B-25 is the Italeri re-boxing of the AM kit. The aircraft that I am building is a "D" , its a very well detailed kit but I am finding it hard going at the minute as there is so much work going into it before the fuselage halves go togther! I am building this one strictly OOB as it is a little ambition to build a 1/48 bomber and I wanted it to be as easy as possible.........should have bought a different kit!Clown [:o)]Big Smile [:D]

Anyway, I've made plenty of mistakes and corrections so far-when it looks "presentable" I'll show you show pics.

See you later,

Darren-I agree-the Accurate Miniatures/Italeri kit is very detailed.  Unfortunatly, a lot of that detail will not be visible after assembly.  But we know it's there! Wink [;)]  I've given thought to starting an WW II Allied Bombers group build in early '08 as an incentive to start my kit, but my current list of open builds is getting longer.  Maybe one of these days I'll just start on it and work as time & desire allow.  Looking forward to pics.

btw-there is a 'documented build' on the Accurate Miniatures web site.  You are probably aware of that, but just in case....
