Coming along nicely Darren! Thumbs Up [tup]

Here's an old pic that I'm sure many of you have seen before.  I'm very jealous of all you guys posing in the real thing.  Me thinks I need to get to some airshows and museums one of these days.

Err excuse me your reverence but I found these which I thought might be of some help to you with your Spit.

As for a wash I usually use a thin pinwash of black/brown to create the illusion of depth then highlight with a lightened shade of the Interior green.  Although I have seen some excellent results using RLM 63 as a wash.

By the way, is the ruler your wife is holding a Blues Bothers reference by any chance.

Oh yeah this is a shot of me taken on holidays a couple of years ago

Cheers

LOL!  It was a lot of work building it.  I'm used to only using a jar or two of paint on a model, that one I had to bring it in by the truckload.  The detail parts  were easier to work with, too!  Wink [;)]

Nice work on those decals Darren!  You are gonna have that one finished in no time!

Priest- nice photo!  Glad you stuck with the hobby instead of taking up drinking, much more fun here!

does anybody have any color sugestions for a wash over raf interior green? Also does anybody have any up close shots of the Mk VB cockpit? I have the main pieces in place now I would like to see what else I can do to make it look more realistic. Thanks for all the nice words about my pit guys, I still say without the comunity here I may not have stuck with the hobby(which very well could have ment going back to drinking, bad idea). Here is one of my wonderful mug shots, acctually its me and the wife

Darren, Frank & Chris.  Nice progress everyone!! Thumbs Up [tup]

Chris (modelman8) You should have no problem painting acrylics over the enamel wash as long as it has dried thoroughly.  You can apply another wash over acrylics but if you use the enamels again you need to be gentle and don't work it too much.  You are better off using an acrylic or artists water colour wash (squeeze tube type) over top of the acrylics.  Just add a drop of dish soap to the wash to help break the surface tension of the water so that it will flow into the crevices.

Frank and Darren, your builds are looking very good.  Chris, your PE looks Great.Thumbs Up [tup]

My Spit had been setting in the box for a while now and I want to get it out but I am still having AB problems.  So last night I ordered a new needle and head assembly, a regulator and gauge with moisture trap and a 10' hose.  If this does not work I do not know what to do except get another AB.  My next question is this: I applied a panel line wash before painting b/c I did not know what I was doing, and I used Enamel that was thinned.  If i paint the outside with acrylics then I can reapply the wash and still see it right?  I have a more in depth explanation in the AC Forum under 1/72 Academy P-38 WIP W/Pics but I have had no replies and I thought that you guys could help me.

Glad to help John!  I know what you mean about getting "hung up."  I had that problem for a couple of weeks on the Seafire trying to figure out how to fix the wing alignment problem.

Thanks my friend!  If you ever decide to cross the pond, let me know!  I will do the same.  I really would enjoy getting to meet some of the people I have met through these forums.  I really enjoyed seeing photos of everyone over on the FAA Gb thread.  It's really cool being able to put faces with the usernames/avatars.  So, how 'bout everyone?  Anyone want to share a mugshot?

Lots of nice work going on here.  I stalled out for awhile on K5054, too many other things have been taking a bite out of my time and energy, but I'm back at it today.  Sometimes my modelling is like computers,  I just seem to get "hung up" at certain points!

Nice cockpit, TLP, it's going to look good.  I'm pretty sure that PE belts can be addictive.

Frank and Darren, keep it up, I need the inspiration!

Thanks everyone!  I was stuck for a little while trimming, adjusting, and fiddling with the wing fit.  The spacers worked out perfectly.  Darren, the spacers I used were strips of .4mm styrene.

Priest- Looking at the photos, I would say that you have really taken to the PE, it looks great!Thumbs Up [tup]

Darren- Thanks buddy!  When should I bring mine over so we can line 'em up side by side?

Frank... looks good so far.  Keep at it.

Chris... ice work with the PE.  Really great stuff to use and not as hard as some say it is... just takes some getting uesed to and well worth it .  Nice work.

Chris your front office looks excellent, nice job.  Is that the Eduard set that you are using there by the way?

Frank, thanks for the heads up on the gap at the front of the wings Thumbs Up [tup], I'm building basically the same kit as you so any pointers like that one that I get are really appreciated.

Darren your Spit is looking fantastic, I can't wait to see her with some decals on, to me a model really start to take shape and come to life once you’ve applied the decals.

Cheers

Here Darren, I'll have one with ya!  Tough to see a mate drinking alone... Make a Toast [#toast]

I posted these pics over at the FAA GB to show my progress, here they are if you missed 'em.  I had to add spacers between the wing and the fuse to get the alignment right.  Surprisingly, everything else in that area fits better now too!  It seems that in the past whenever I tried something like this, it messed up some other area.  Here are the pics:

I see we have passed 1000 posts, woohoo! Make a Toast [#toast]
