sure Frank Smile [:)]

I just realized , I need to repaing (correct) camo on my IXc.

Last night at a LHS I saw Mk IXc 1/48 from Airfix. Is it worth to get it ?? How this kit compares to Hasegawa IXc ??

Count me in!!! I'll be doing Revell's older 1/48 MK III(?), but starting in later after  my Bradley is wrapped up, maybe by mid May or early June.....

I'd like in if it's ok with everyone. I just happened to have started a new project tonight which is combining a Hase IXc and an ICM IXc to get the best of both worlds. I took a couple of pics but will post them tomorrow.

What says you?

Greg,

WHat do you have to fix on your Mk.IX?  I thought it was looking very nice indeed.

corvettemike and hk-

I say Sign - Welcome [#welcome], the more the merrier!  The boss should be along soon to officially welcome you aboard.  In the meantime, feel free to post away! Thumbs Up [tup]

Well here goes.

The kit I'm doing for this build is going to be a combination of two kits, the Hasegawa IXc and the ICM IXc. After reading about problems with both kits I thought it sounded like I use them both to build an excellent example of the MK IXc Spitfire. Here is the progress thus far.

The Hase cockpit has been said to be better and I'd have to agree after looking at both kits side by side. The darker parts are Hase bits.

A little further along after the addition of a few more bits and some paint.

Complete. As luck would have it I happened to have one last set of PE belts left. Time to stock up! That's all for now.

Beautiful work there so far hk!  I like the Sutton harness passing all the way back to the rear bulkhead, an often-overlooked detail.  Well done! Thumbs Up [tup]

Greg- What wasn't right about it?  Is it the pattern of the camo?

Yup, I had three camos lying around and I picked a wrong one at some point Sad [:(], not a big deal but it delays decaling for a while

Nice work Hk!

Although not done with the Novo Spit yet, I've decided to start another Spit as it also participates in a few other GB's as well.

I haven't done much yet, just cut away and cleaned some of the pieces for the cockpit.

Is the seat supposed to be metal?

Cheers,

Azgaron

Indeed, HK nice work on the cockpit.

The seat was a backelite (not sure on spelling) so the color would be brownish/redish.

One more thing on the cockpit - many people paint the crow bar in RED, In fact it was a natural color (interior green). Those were painted red after the war (or late in the war) if I am not mistaken.

Yup, that would be bakelite. The first man made plastic, was known to be a bit brittle. As mentioned, it was a brown red color and had a natural satin finish.

More progress on the spit. Working on the seams and got most of the airframe together. I used the rudder and elevator from the Hase kit and pinned them in place with brass wire as the detail on these looked better.

nice touch with the tail !

Make sure you do have a wire antena, otherwise remove the little hinge on the rudder tip

Greetings All!

WOW there sure are a load of wonderful Spits here !!!  I have been away for quite some time and was wondering if were okay if I did post my submission (see first page "roster")  It is the trusty old KP Mk.IX kit in 1/72 scale.

I rescribed the panel lines used the salt chipping technique, some Falcon canopies and in the end hope to have a passable Egyptian Air Force Mk. IX.

Will post soon.

The Spitfire GB half-way down page 2?  THIS WILL NOT DO!!! Grumpy [|(]

I masked off the underside on my Mk.I, and painted a few shades of Earth Brown yesterday.  Hopefully, will have some pics to share soon. Thumbs Up [tup]

I had been doing small boring stuff like messaging seems and prepping canopys. I was about ready to mount the glazing and fair it in before paint when the weather turned really, really nice.

I drug an old Yamaha out of the barn and began the process of resurecting it from the dead and havent spent time on the Spit for a week. For shame!

hk- Shock [:O] I know what you mean, when it gets nice out it's difficult to stay indoors.

Gents- My Lady returned home today from vacation, and brought me camera!  SO, I have taken a pic of my Spitfire.  She's mostly Earth Brown now!  I did the pre-shade, but wasn't really happy with the end result.  SO, I did some post-shading and lightening with different hues of the main color.  Here she is, awaiting the Dark Green!  I hope to mask her this weekend and get started with it. Thumbs Up [tup]

Frank,

the post-shading looks good to me.Thumbs Up [tup] I have done some work to my Seafire Ib and its been a real drag......one of the gear legs snapped in half!Disapprove [V]

Still, I have ripped some nice wheels from a Hase kit so hopefully I'll have this thing standing on its own feet soon. I plan to add the decals tomorrow and start work on a display base.

Thanks fellas, glad you like!  Looking at the photos, a lot of the subtle post fading I did is almost invisible.  I'm hoping that when she's finished, it will all come together.

Darren- Sorry to hear about the Seafire issues!  Sounds like you already have a plan "B" in the works. Thumbs Up [tup]
