silentmodeler,

Congratulations on the 3rd place! Thumbs Up [tup]  If you want to start another kit, just let me know, and don't concern yourself with the July deadline, as I may extend to the end of the year if needed.

Sorry been out of it for a while, it was very hot here, and combined with work and family, I stopped building. I will resume shortly on all projects. I hope to have some shots soon, after I fix up a few things. I hope any of my fellow builders from Victoria are safe, we are all thinking about you guys.

As we seem to have stagnated here, I am attaching a couple of shots of the interior of an Aichi M6A1 Seiran that I just started.  This is a 1/72 scale Tamiya kit that I am building to pose next to the I-400, which I hope to be starting soon.

raider-hall,

I am slowly improving with my herniated disk, and I know that it will take time to fully recover.  I am sorry to hear about your cousin.  Unfortunately, I went through the same issue early last year with a cousin that I was very close to in our youth, and he was four years younger than I.

On to better things, the Enterprise looks great! Thumbs Up [tup]  You certainly do some fine work.

All,

I am still finding that several of you are MIA. Confused [%-)]  While off for the holidays, I managed to injure myself, and this has had a major impact on everything, including my build time.  As I still want to add my Tamiya 1/350 I-400 submarine to this build, I have decided to move the end date to July.  Please feel free to check in when you can. All,

I have not heard from several of you in a while now.  Please let me know if I need to push the end date one more time.

Happy New Years to all!!! I all hope that it was safe. I worked all night of course, and all Xmas too!!! Not happy, good money though. I have not done much on my project, as I have been so busy running around for everyone else, and working lots. I hope to do some more work soon on it, and hope to have an extension on the date. Anyway, keep safe, and for you northern type guys, keep warm. It will be 30 deg C here today, no minus stupid degrees!! And I hope to see some sharks off my local beach soon, some hammerhead were spotted during the week!Tongue [:P]

raider-hall,

I guess that makes sense.  I did not know if the water caused issues with the paper, but paint and a clear coat would probably give enough of a barrier.  I was thinking that maybe you used dry transfers.

Nothing special scotty.just paint lay on the clearcoat and put your decals on.  http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo95/raider-hall/100_1425.jpg  http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo95/raider-hall/100_1427.jpg

raider-hall,

Nice work once again! Thumbs Up [tup]  Since you build using cardstock, what do you have to do to get the decals to adhere?

traveller,

It is as if those in charge do not have families, and do not build models! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  I fully understand your situation, as I have also "been there, done that" far too many times in my career.  Fortunately, I am in a much better position now to take the time off that I want, and when I want, especially around the holidays.  Keep your head up mate, it eventually does get better. Thumbs Up [tup]

Zzz [zzz] Just thought that I would check in to see what is happening among the group members.  With a long weekend coming up, hopefully there will be some model time available to all.  Don't be bashful about updating everyone on your progress.

JMart,

My bench time has gone up considerably since the weather started to take a downward turn, which has caused me to effectively abandon my bike for the rest of year.  I still have slight hope that a "global warming" day or two will come so that I can sneak in just a few more miles for the year.Whistling [:-^]

I have the kit that you mention in my "to build" stash.  It really looks to be an excellent kit right out of the box, and even better than the Arii 1/800 series of ships that came out several years ago (which were a big improvement over the Italeri kits).  The Saratoga that I built for this group went together without a hitch, and I really like the clear aircraft.

Thanks for the information, and I will send you an e-mail about instructing on a new level.

Catching up on this GB, life has been VERY crazy last couple months, averaged 1 hr benchtime per month lol

Scott - Shoot me a PM or email if you want to chat "teaching" at a Univ; best/easiest place to start is as an adjunct. Teach one class and see if you like it; also gives you the "experience" necessary as most full time jobs experience IS necesary! And the extension will be VERY useful and once semester is done I should be able to get into my workshop!

squadron has the trumpeter 1:700  CV-69 on sale half price this month

Hi Scotty, these are not kits. They scratchbuild from papercard and plastic sheets. Have a good day.

raider-hall,

Once again I thank you for sharing the photos of your work.Make a Toast [#toast]  I was wondering where you obtain your kits from, as I do not think that I have ever seen anything like them advertised, but then again, I deal mostly with plastic (with a little resin and photoetched brass thrown in from time to time).
