Thanks for the link Robbioo, but I meant for my T-72. I dont know maybe they could work, they have the same kind of helmet as German on the boxart...

Let me clarify that, anyone know where I could get East German Tankers from 1988.

Cheers Dave

IS-3M is pretty much all done now. Just a few little bits to add paintwise to improve the "look"

Rear chassis fuel drums were a nightmare to install and I am ashamed to say I lost my patience badly over this stage. Lucky my 13 year old daughter was at hand with a cuppa. My Lady Love is at work today, so she did not witness or hear my little diagreement with painted and moulded plastic

Once done and there is better light, I will take some pics. Using a flash washes out the model and makes the burnt umber wash far too stark against the green which in reality it is not.

One thing I can say about Trumpy decals is that they are superb.

cheers

Sturm, looking forward to seeing some pics.

I finished my spitfire today so I hope to get some major progress done on the SU-122 with what's left of the weekend.

Well I've almost finished building the T-72's Hull and Turret, man the think has tiny peices, 150+ peices, and at least 50 are about as big around as a toothpick. The NSVT 12.7 mm MG has 5 peices, and they're all tiny. Anyone know what I could do to make some tankers for this thing, because I left the hatches open.

The IS-3 looks good mike.

I finally got some propellant for my airbrush, now I can finish the KV-1S. The T-72M1 looks like it will be fun to build, It's extremly detailed. I'm going to build an East German Machine.

Sign - Off Topic!! [#offtopic] I picked up Tamiya's 1/35 Panther A and Sdkfz. 251/1 Hanomag today at Hobby Lobby, 30% off too. They both have markings for Grossendeutcheland Division (I probably spelt that wrong lol) so I might do a Kursk Diorama....Big Smile [:D]

Trumpeter IS-3M turrent in progress.

Some tidy up needing to be done, plus another well thinned flat earth wash needs to be applied after the decals are on.

Well I built the T-34/85 mod 1944 and had a blast with that one. I have 2 more Dragon kits in the stash, a T-34/76 and a Bradley AFV. The Normandy version of the Sherman and Maus are the next in queue. Smile [:)]

I can highly recommend the Trumpeter JS-3M.

Dave, my E8 showed up today....man, what a kit!!!!! These 1/72 Dragon kits are the cats Censored [censored]. Tonight I will be starting work on my T34 (another of Dragon's 1/72 gems).

I reckon Dragon 1:72 kits are about the best there is now. They pretty much own the 1:72 armour market, with Trumpeter and Revell snapping at their heels.

saddler, thanks for posting on how you finished that amazing SU-100. Your weathering skills look fine. In fact, you continue to raise the bar here with every pic you post. I will definitely try your technique on my T34.

Further to my link I thought i'd share the following.

Most techniques described in books and on-line are designed for 1/35 scale kits and dont always work well in 1/72. I've played around with a few techniques but my 'base' approch to 1/72 armour is as follows.

To make this UM SU-100

1. Build all the kit save for wheels and tracks (I find it too hard to paint these in situ)

2. Spray the model with a coat to matt black, I prefer using acrylics for all my spraying.

3. Select the main colour, in this case a dark green.

4. Spray the centre of all the panels in a solid coat but leave the edges / joins black

5. Mist ( spray from a distance) the whole model in light coats until the green panel centres and the black edges are blended into a gradual gradient.

6. When dry spray with gloss varnish and when dry apply any decals if needed, ie turrent numbers.

7. Wash (brush with very watered down paint) the model in suitable filter colour, for dark green I use a brown colour)

8. Pin Wash (less thin paint applied with precision and a small brush) the panel lines and joints in a burnt umber colour.

9. Mist the centre of the panels with a thined lightened version of the base colour to bring a bit of life back to the model.

10. Fit the wheels and tracks after painting them.

11. Matt varnish the model.

12. Weathering can now be done (something i've yet to master!)

Everyone does it differently but I find this general method works for me.

Hope this helps

Wow! Sweet-lookin' kit Dave! Can't wait to see how you do with it! Thumbs Up [tup] That's making me even more antsy now to receive mine. Sewell's review didn't post any shots of the sprues. That really looks awesome. Thanks much for posting that! Really gives me an idea of what to expect when my E8 shows up.

Mike, here's one review that has some pics.  The pics are not the greatest quality but good enough to get an idea.  My wife is gone on a trip with the camera for a couple of weeks so I can't take any for you.  sorry.

I use Ceramcoat dark forest green drybrushed with lighter shades. I have also been told that IJA green is a good base green as well.

Sorry to hear about your breakup.

cheers

Can someone please help me, This isonly the second kit I've done.

 1. I bought Soviet Green and its WAY to light

 2. Weathering, you guys tanks look like painted metal, mine looks like painted plastic, how do you make rust? I bought the paint, it looks way to bright. And how do you make the exhuast and vents and grills look realisitc?

Could someone please just give me a step by step guide to weathering? Yall seem like your good at this.

 Thanks

The T-55 looks great, I've always been fond of that tank....

I get all my PST kits from a hobby shop just up the road, but they only buy PST's KV series tanks so...

Duke welcome the Su-122's are pretty popular, I allways thought that and the SU-152 had guns too big and they looked strange, I'm weird though.... (=
