SOVIET UNION 1/72 ARMOR GB

I would like to join this too. With more than 550 1/72 scale tanks, artillery and vehicles built, I can never refuse a 1/72 scale Group Build!

I'd like to join with my 1/72 scale UM Su 122 and then when it's done, I can get a UM Su-100 going too. And if this is still happening, I have several other kits to do for this as well, including about three versions of the Dragon T-34 in 1/72 scale.....

Man this is going to be fun! 

Well that is not good at all

I wanted a PST ISU-122 and T-55. Just won a KV-122 on eBay, but the sole ISU-122 available on Bay carries a US$25 postage cost. Ouch!

 I've a nasty feeling the've folded, Hannants here in the UK, one of the biggest model shops in Europe is currently unable to source any more kits and has classed all PST kits now as discontinued, don't sound good

I have not yet purchased a PST kit, but have read some great things about the range and some not so good things about buildability. Still, your build proves that they build up nice in the end.

Are you making a base for your T-55?

The first tank is off the production lines

This is the PST T-55 built otb. The general fit of the kit is good but it lacks some detail. A PE sheet and some new tracks would be needed to turn this into a showpiece model.

Its finished in Vallejo and Tamiya paints and weathered with Mig pastels.

Any comments or suggestions welcome

Looks like we're in the same boat Mike. Probably 90% of my builds have wings, and half of those have 2 of 'em......

...and I would never have guessed that you're new to 1/72 armor based on your work. It's awesome! Hope mine turns out half as good!

189 parts? Crikey!! Sounds like a challenge to be attempted. I am new to 1:72 armour as I am an aircraft modeller. Normally I view armour as targets. However, I am totally enjoying the change and seem to be able to juggle an armour build between those beloved things with wings.

I want to get a PST ISU-122, but they seem to be hard to get locally, more's the pity.

Dave, are those 1/35 or 1/72? I can't wait to receive that 1/72 E8! Ordered it yesterday from a shop in Vancouver and it should be arriving sometime next week.

The tow cables come supplied with the kit as twisted wire lengths and moulded plastic ends that are attached once the cables are cut to the right length. Naturally the length suggested in the instructions is far too long. They look good but I reckon wire is a little too inflexible at this scale. Nylon would look better perhaps.

I just got a UM Hetzer on eBay. Looks pretty good in the box I must say.

That's a really nice looking '85 Mike!    Were the tow cables supplied with the kit or are those your own creation?

I broke out my Su 122 on the weekend.  Can't say that I'm much impressed by the UM kit.  soft plastic and vague instructions, no locating pins etc.  Oh well... It's just going to take a little longer than I thought.

I noticed you added the T-34/85 to my build list. Can you please remove it? I have built that one already

Here is the finished Dragon T-34/85. I just need to remove the track joins with some white glue and paint touch ups.

I purchased another Dragon T-34 yesterday - T-34/76 mod 1941, as I was so impressed by the T-34/85.

Short of the later releases by Revell AG and Trumpeter, these kits have got to be the best on the market.

Seems my memory isn't what it used to be.  My Su-100 that I thought I had in my stash is actually a Su-122 so please change my build sturm.

Sounds like a fun trip you have planned.  Be sure to take lots of pics to share with the rest of us.

 Yeah, Now I have it painted, just needs a little more weathering and that peice is done. Now I got to do Roadwheels and tracks, I hate those esspecially the link-and-length tracks in this kit. Then I'm gonna make some snow to put on it and the few decals and I'll be ready for the next kit. I'd like to do an Assault Gun like SU-85 or SU-100, and a T-34/85.

I'm goin to Destin, Florida for a week though so you have time to catch up.... I'm going to the Pensacola Naval Aviation Musuem and the Eglin AFB Armaments Museum while I'm there.

Saddler made a badge, but if you still want to do one go for it
