Ok...

1. Upload the pictures to your computer.

2. Use an online photo-sharing thing like Photobucket and get the Direct Link URL.

3. Click the picture with a tree in the toolbar when posting and enter the URL of your picture.

4. Click update and Done

The Type IVC was about 252' long.  This scales to a little over 15" at 1:200.  Seems like nothing compared to the 1:72 models some folks are working on.

I'm planning on doing some kit bashing to better represent U505.  The wintergarten platform on the model is much too short and AA armament is incorrect.  Because the original model was designed to be motorized, the hull comes in two pieces.  There is a lower hull that is molded in red plastic and an upper grey superstructure that fits into it.  The deck pieces and sail fit onto the superstructure.  The limber holes in the superstructure are nicely molded, but its tempting to open them up.  Need to think about that some.

How do you add pictures to these posts?  Can they just be inserted or do they need to be somewhere else on-line?

Nice job!  I really am amazed by such fine work at such small scales.  The extra pictures worth looking at.

I've finally opened the box on my 1:200 Nichimo Type IXC and hope to get some photos posted tomorrow.

That should be fairly big...

That'd do the trick. I'm working on Academy's P51B and turning it into a racer, and it's about 1/2 done. Then comes the Kilo...I think you should pull out that U-boat...

Thanks, I did just a little weathering on the side. Because I was afraid of going overbored (pardon the pun) on the weathering. Plus the rust color I used is a little dark I think. I might go over it again tomorrow with something lighter. Maybe now I'll dig out a 1/400 U-Boat hmm...

Jim glad the color chart helps.

I worked on my sub for around six hours today and got it done. Here are a some pics

Here is the sub after painting and removing the mask. Not that happy after removing it because of some color bleeding. The sub with painted with Tamiya's XF-63 German Grey btw.

Because the deck color seemed a little to clean. I gave it a raw umber rash to darken the color you can't really see it good here though.

After that there was not much to do other then add a few parts. And here are the finished picture (however I still need to spray on some dull coat as you can see in a few pics...)

A few more pictures can also be seen here http://s151.photobucket.com/albums/s126/Chatterer-88/I-16/

Thanks! This will help a lot actually...  I hired my daughter to take digitized pics of the WIPs, since Im clueless...  will post some sub pics soon. They are an interesting series "world famous submarine series", most everything else is in japanese. ARII plastic models, 1:700 scale, cold war era, includes Red Star & Stalin (alphas), Yushio & Sachisio (Japanese Yushio class), Boston & LA (LA Class), and Trafalgar... includes a cheesy "dio base" (plastic water) and a regular plastic base, as well as 3 half hulls... 2 for one (larger) above water display, and a 1/3 of the top hull for the "waterline" cheesy dio...  I know, pics would be better... VERY simple models, not much detail, con towers have 1-3 pieces (masts molded in, I may crack them and add something sturdier, very thin cable? )  Still thinking painting schemes.... will keep you posted!

cheers

Jim

JMart thanks for the kind comments! Its an honor that my build has inspired you thanks! I must confess though this is only my fifth 1/700 kit I've built. So I still have a ways to go before getting good. This list might help with the Japanese color names http://www.hlj.com/~tanoue/HLJ/colorname.html the only thing there just the basic colors. So I don't know how much it will help.

That looks awesome! I'm assuming that's 1/700, because theres a dime in one picture, and the conning tower looks really small...

Sure here's a few pics

Here's a shot of the deck after painting last week. It took me longer to clean my airbrush then to paint the deck Propeller [8-]

And here's the really tiny conning tower Five parts total I believe.

And here's the deck after being masked out It took about an hour total to get the masking done before I was really happy with the job.

I'm still working on my sub, however its on hold right now lost a rudder part Dunce [D)] And now I have to scratchbuild one. Would have got it done three days ago but I've come down with a cold and don't have the energy. I hope I'll be able to work on it this weekend some time.

I got my subs today, the Ohio looks nice. I think I might add scratchbuilt details, though. The exact kit is USS Ohio SSBN-726 (Dragon) 1/700. I'll be builder her after her conversion to an SSGN carrying Tomahawk cruise missiles.

Thanks James, The Tamiya kit does have nice surface detail compared to a pair of Fujimi subs I built awhile back. I look forward to seeing the ARII.

Waste Land you're right it does seem like a handful. Once you open the box and see how small everything really is. I hope I don't need a mircoscope all though it might be good! The only thing I have trouble with is the small size of the parts and handling them. But I guess that's what tweezers are for.  I thought about a water base, and might do it. If I can make one that does not take up a lot of room.

well for all of us that are doing U-boats, I ran accross a website that is a wealth of information (many of you probably already know about it). It's called Uboat.net. Found it tobe so interesting that I can see another U-boat in my future.

I also would like to see a picture of a 1/72 Air Plane against the 1/72 Revell u-boats.....

I'm looking at this picture and thinking..........these are not the same scale but it could be just my eyes playing tricks on me
