Urban Armor GB, May 1-Dec 31, 2008

Will do once I get my laptop back from the repair people. I don't usually install a copy of all my expensive software on every computer in this house, especially not this dinosaur. It would probably quit if I tried to run Photoshop...

Here's my entry, don't know if I submitted a photo yet...

Guys:  Sorry I missed the official kick-off for this GB, and thank you dupes for watching over things while I was gone.  I was hoping to be on the forums sooner but my move has been keeping me busy...as you can imagine.  I'm pretty well settled in now and the hobby room is almost operational, so I should be starting my Panther A pretty soon!

This is a small group for this GB, and although it's an especially ambitious task for those of us building dio's, I think the tight knit group will be beneficial.  I already have some ideas for my Rome Colosseum construction...it should be pretty cool, I'll post progress pic's as usual.  I build architectural models frequently so feel free to bounce ideas off me about your dio's.

Let's have some fun!!!

Hermesminiatures:  We need to finalize the badge ASAP!  Did you ever dig up that origainal picture with the Russian and German tanks?

Hey fellas - talked to SMJ a couple of days ago, he's still not 100% squared away with his move, but assured me he'd find time to get on the forums in the next week.

Sounded disappointed that he wasn't around for the "official" start of Urban Armor, but said that it is GAME ON!

I'm sure he'll review the entire thread upon his return, so any of you that submitted ideas/builds will no doubt be added at that time.

Here's an interesting idea....

An M4A1 (76) cast hull Sherman with sandbags....There are some helpful articles on just such a thing too in the FEB-MAR 2002 FSM... Maybe mark me down for this one, I'll get back to you.....

SMJ UPDATE - talked to him a little while ago, has finished the move from CA to NY, just doing a bit of remodeling to get his house 100% to move in. Said he would be back on the forums in a couple of weeks, and that everyone should feel free to fire away on the first of May! He may not be around for the official kickoff, but very shortly thereafter.

I have my build figured out (for now) - I am doing option #2 (no dio) and I'll be building the DML 1/35 scale Stug IV Late (SdKfz 167).

It will be based on an art print I found representing a Stug IV from Sturmartillerie Brigade 249's attempt to break out of Berlin following the death of Hitler.

does anybody have any information regarding the Super Pershing? The only picture I can find is after WWII or before it was shipped out. any idea for a diorama?

This should fit for the build but I cannot find what I should have for decals and I cannot find pictures of it in a city fighting which it did do. this would be a second build for this GB

I think you mispoke, option #1 is with a diorama. Option #2 is a stand alone tank. Plus, I don't think I have the skill level yet to do a realistic diorama, but maybe oneday in the future.

tempting, I found a building but it is 1/35 that I could fudge with, tried to get a 1/35 and a 1/48 M10 TD and lost em both so all I have so far is a building in the wrong scale

Different Pershing, different encounter.  The Pershing you're talking about faced a King Tiger at Dessau.

Boyd, that's a pretty swanky StuG pic...should be a good build.

Odds are it'll be 1/35th, I'll let you know which specific kit (might be able to justify a new purchase for this one...) and... I am not going to commit to a dio at this point, but if I get rip roarin' through it, I may add that later...
