Great pics Mobious. I too am a lover of all things Schwimmer. I built the type 166 from Tamiya with the SB Models update set. The Schwimmer now resides in the back of the famo. Heres the 166

   Mobious be careful with the resin. Even though I've never used it I've heard from a few people that it gets pretty hot while it dries. Also the new squadron cataloge has figs for this kit. I think there Legend.

 Just sit right back and hear a tale, a tale of a mighty Schlepper...

 Steps 3 and 4 are the roadwheel truck assembly. Can't locate my handy camera so I couldn't get any pics, wouldn't have been too interesting anyway.

 Step 5 is the attachment of the trucks, the assembly of the props, rudders, drive sprocket, and idler.

 Here's whats been done so far...

 Any ideas on how to do water in a dio? It appears that fiberglass resin is the best and least expensive. Tried a little test with gel mediums and wasn't happy with the results. I think I'll try the resin this weekend and try several test to see if it will do what I want it to do. Crossing my fingers and stir sticks just for luck.

 Originally the schwimmer was going to be a WIP. The only pics I have in construct is this one...

 I think it shows most of the work done. Started with the 1/35 Tamiya schwimmwagen and the Eduard PE. I didn't want the tied off canvas top that the kit offered, but as illustrated in the pic I incorrectly folded the top. After it was painted and nearly finished is when I decided to redo the top and correct my erring ways. Toadman's has a wonderful walkaround on a Schwimmwagen that I used to model the top after.  The top frame is scratchbuilt with styrene and motorcyle hand levers for the latches. The top itself is Apoxy sculpting compound, as is the front bundled tarp.

 Here is a shot from somewhere up above it...

 the Eduard set isn't too bad, but it does miss some of the smaller interior details, like gear tie downs. Easy enough to make with wire. I think Aber offers a PE set also, but have never used Aber. One thing to note if planning a build is to check the clearence between the floor boards and the sides. I've seen pics of gerrycans shoved in there and to do that the kit would have to be modified. I didn't catch that one until too late in the build to correct.

 It was a blast to build and I have 2 more in the stash. Something about a bathtub with wheels sporting an MG42 that I thinks is cool too.

 OBTW here is a camo paint scheme that I want to do on a Schwimmer...

The schwimmer would count for service and support as well. Do you have any more pics and descriptions of what kit and bits you used on that. I love schwimwagons.

 Thanks panzerguy, This is my first Bronco kit. The level of detail on the hull is great. There is little flash and aside from the minor hull issue everything is schwimming along nicely.

 They are both 1/35 scale. I haven't built anything larger than a single axle truck in 6 months, so to me this thing looks monstrous, but hey on the upside it's got tracks and floats According to the brief history included with the instructions, it was capable of towing a floating trailer with an Sdkfz 9. HMMMM...

 Thanks stick man for the positive comments. Just starting step 2, with all the bump stops and thingies behind the tracks.

 Hello,

 Started the LWS last night and ran into problems... The lower hull was bowed inward so it was spread with a clamp and set overnight. Not a real big problem, I would have expected worse. Everything else looks nearly flawless with this kit. while drilling the bumper tie downs, snapped the drill bit flush with the hull. Managed to use my needle nose pliers to work it back out after shaving around the broken bit.

 After removing the clamp, the upper hull fit nicely onto the lower hull.

 Had to get a comparison shot...

 Got the LWS, It's bigger than I had expected. Haven't built anything with tracks in a couple months. Looking forward to getting started. Looking for crew members. Would they have been Kriegsmarine?

  Mobious thanks I didnt have time to get the figs done before the show so I made a quickie base to display it at the shows . I'm still planning to redo it with the figs.

 panzerguy, Great News! That is a Beautiful Bergetiger well deserving of a gold. Did you ever get the dio built?

 Glad to hear other FSM Forum guys getting recognition also. Both dupes and Al are very capable modelers. Always enjoy their work.

 Should have the LWS next week. Looking forward to building that one. Better brush up on the Naval terminology.

  And a little update my Bergetiger took a gold at AMPS east and today at the IPMS Granitcon show it took first in the AFV cat.  Dupes and Al Lafleche were there also and didnt do to shabby either

Hey panzerguy, I know it's sorta of late into this GB already. But I was wondering if I could switch my build to a 1/35 Italeri kfz. 15 Horch? It was used as a transport vehicle, but it was also used as a command and liaison vehicle.

If you allow it, then I'll be building the Horch instead of the RPM Ford T Lorry.

whoa...had to reach back to the bottom of page two to find this baby...lol...

Ahhh...it's good to have work settle down enough to be able to re-approach the model bench! So, after much procrastination (and a failed attempt at my first artist-oil wash on another kit last month)...I'm finally ready to get down to business on my M113 Fitter. I left my camera at work, so I'll just describe where I'm at...I only have a couple hours into the kit so far...

Being as this will be only my second armour kit ever, I decided to build it buttoned-up and concentrate on the exterior. Although these buckets cry out for going nuts on their interiors, I decided I'd cross one bridge at a time...I've got several other 113's I can go-crazy on the interiors in the future. That being said, I had a case of brain freeze and got half the interior components glued in place before I realized I had just glued a whole boatload of stuff that would have been great for the spares box....doh!  Tonight I'll be working on closing up the body and get a start on the suspension.

The build is gonna be OOB with no AM, so I should have assembly complete this week and start painting by the weekend. I'll start posting pics in a day or three. I feel so far behind....lol

  Been out of it for a few while I was getting ready for AMPS but I'm back.  White the schlepper's looking great that salt thing really is something else I thought you where doing it in panzer gray? 

White - that chipping looks great.

Obviously there are only sooo many vehicles in the world to model, but it's very cool to see a different one every now and then!
