I have the Dragon Mit Wurfeahmen 40 (3in1) kit in my stash (#6284). Not sure of my skills are up to that level yet, I am still at the Tamiya stage ;)

I could attempt the Tamiya /9 Kanonwagon.. (kit #35147) if its not taken yet....

Lufty - sadly, no me109 variant...there IS a "luftwaffe" version of the /17, though. You should look that one up when you head over to the hobby shop. Let me know what you find after you head over there. "GB TO END ALL GB'S", huh? I like the sound of that! Laugh [(-D]

JMart - I'll put you on the roster, sir. Glad to have you! So far no one has called the /9, so odds are good that you're in luck, especially since SMJ is leaning toward the Stuka Zu Fuss already...maybe you should try to make him a deal on your DML boxing. Wink [;)]

Panzer88 - roger on the luftwaffe version. Been poking around some more, appears that there were actually three mods of the /17? The "command", "luftwaffe", and "schwebelafette"? At least that's what DML is calling it - I'm going to have to do a bit of research before adding that one to the list.

SMJ - I don't have time to build all of MY builds much less starting in on YOUR builds. Ashamed [*^_^*] Although, if I could cut out the weathering stage altogether (i.e., hand them off to you), I would be able to crank out a lot more stuff...Mischief [:-,]

Nice score! I figured no one would be able to find that kit (it's oop, as far as I know), so had sort of ear-marked it for myself to do. Now I get to root around in my other variants and see what perks me up a bit. Big Smile [:D]

You need to do the configuration with the 2 foot tall antenna. Evil [}:)]

I have that one too, it is pretty hard to find these days. The only thing I'd recommend is that you replace the plastic antenna with telescoping brass tubing so you can play with it (and transport it safely!)

Dupes - there were three versions of the /17, like you said. Should probably split them up, they are all quite different.

Jonathan

For every modeling technique that works, I have three that don't.

Yeah, I think you're right about splitting all three of the /17's up. Do you know if there any sort of "official" designation for the one with the Kwk 38 as opposed to the flak 38 "luftwaffe" version?

Lufty - did you pick up any telescoping brass tubing with your kit? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Nope, no telescopic tubing. I wonder if someone does one? I have just ordered Eduards PE set for it though. LOL.

Dupes as fot info on the Sd.Kfz. 251/5: Engineer vehicle for special assault engineers-Project I do have some in formation on items on that unit. like this: Sdkfz 251/5 - Schützenpanzerwagen für Pionierzug. Assault Engineer vehicle with inflatable boats, assault bridges. Command Vehicle for Pioneer platoons (Pionierzug).

You can find a kit of it based on the B version but with out all the add items like the inflatable boats or The base kit will have to be the Tamyia Hanomag and I would have to modifie some of the body to look more like the B version. Here's some more infor mation on the subject [Frome Squadron Signal]-[SdKfz 251 in action] I quote: The SdKfz 251/5 "Mittlerer Schutzenpanzerwagen fur Pionier Zug" was designed to carry combat engineers and their equipment. It carried only eight men and room thus made available was used for Special Equipment. This version was later supplanted by the SdKfz 251/7.

The engineer vehicles came in two models. The SdKfz 251/5 Ausf B was the original version, introduced in 1939. These Ausf. Bs of the 9th Panzer Division carryed cabels, jacks and spare track links on the front plates and extra equipment under the tarpaulins in the back.

only know image is this one:

Side view:

The SdKfz. 251/6 Ausf. B

The SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C (The replacement for the B version).

The SdKfz. 251/8 Ausf. C,D types. I found only an image of a built model:

An the one that I realy want to do is the C version of this halftrack.

The SdKfz. 251/21 Ausf. C

This model was built rong the sheld around to gun should not be there like on the D version. The C version was a in-feld mod an the sheld was not on.

I want to do this one the right way.

Here's a cool link if any one needs it and an images list of halftracks and there name types.

http://chrito.users1.50megs.com/kstn/kstn4161jun44.htm

I do see that things have slowed down a bit in my HalfTrack GB. I need to start on my next project soon be for I run out of time.

White - let me see if I can dig up any more info for you on the /5. Also, you should consider the Zvezda boxing (3572) - they make a /1 B - no mods necessary other than the conversion to a /5! Big Smile [:D]

Hi Dupes,

Had a quick look in Chris Bishops' 'Waffen-SS Divisions 1939-45' to which it lists the 2nd SS Panzer Division 'Das Reich' as being issued with a number of SdKfz 251/22s in late 1944. Strange in that this model varient is listed as not being fitted with any radio, unlike other model varients?

gaaaah!  Shock [:O]  I just now noticed the thread!  As I mentioned when the topic first came up a while back, I really want to do a 251/9.  Anyway, here is my formal submission for this GB:

I have two of kits in my stash.

1/35 DML6233 Sd.Kfz 251 Ausf. D 3 in 1 -
251/9 7.5cm - This is my first choice, I've always liked this variant.
251/1 SPW or 251/1 “Falke” IR vehicle - either one of these are ok if I can't get the first choice or 2nd choice.

1/35 AFV Club Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf D w/ PaK 40 - This one is pretty cool because it includes a 7.5cm PaK 40 so this is a good second choice if I can't get my first choice (the 251/9 above)

I'm glad to see this GB is happening, thanks Dupes!  Big Smile [:D]

dupes - Im passing "my"  /9 to Scott (espins), he had firs dibs and is a much better modeller than me, I am sure I will learn a ton from this Gb anyways... :)

if I feel brave I can attempt my to graduate from Tamiya to DML and try the Sd.Kfz 251/2, Ausf C Mit Wurfeahmen 40 (3in1)  (#6284) kit in my stash.. anyone has experience with that kit, straight forward enough for a newbie?

Hey, it's cool, I didn't realize you already put in for that one.  I'm game for any of the variants I have in my stash.  And don't sell yourself short JMart, you're just as worthy as any of the rest of us my friend.  Smile [:)]

Dupes,

This sounds interesting yet vaguely familiar.  A loose confederation of Texas modelers known as the George Armstrong Custer Gin Drinking and Model Building Society did something similar for the IPMS Nats in 2006.  Mine is the C model towing the Nebelwerfer in the last two pics.  If I can do it, put me down for a D model of some type.  Links included for inspiration.

Lewbud - those are some great pics! That's the sort of thing I'd like to achieve with this GB, only with one of everything! I'd love to get you in on the build, your preference (any D) is easy, what do you have in your stash right now?

Ps1scw - let me root around in my references for anything about the /11 or /19. Anyone else have anything about these guys?

Espins1 - Scott I was wondering if you were going to see the thread! I've got your stash list down, personally I'd like to see that /1D towing the PaK 40 but that's just me. Wink [;)] Glad you're on the list!

Panzerguy has also been added via PM. Hope to see him post here soon. Cool [8D]

I was drooling on that kit last night.... way cool!  Cool [8D]

Why don't we switch that to my first choice?  That way JMart can still have the 251/9 as his.  Smile [:)]

I can still build my 3 in 1 kit as a /9 in another build. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I've got the instructions for the AFV kit here at the office with me.  The PaK 40 is a kit in itself with 139 parts!!  Shock [:O]

Ya, it has the works!  Rubber tires, aluminum barrel, pre-bent brash shield, photo etch parts.  It's really nice!  I'd like to see you build the PaK 43/41.  Perhaps we should do a towed anti-tank/artillery GB to run concurrently with this build!  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

dupes looks like you realy want me to build the /5 version. I my self thing that it's not all that interesting of a build, but you want it done I'll do that one and only that one. I'll build the one that I like the most in the GB I started. I hate to go out an buy a new kit at the price's on kit's to day but I'll build it. It's just so boring no big gun on it, no weard looking parts just plan jan look equipment career., but It will be done. As easy as this build is I'll get it done fast. This version realy won't need any scratch building. Just some resin parts. I think I'm going to pass on using any PE on this project.

See you all on day 8th or Oct. When I'll post the box art and parts tree and start the project.

Building the Impossible Is my main goal!!

Everybody keep in mind that the final kit assignments are NOT set in stone yet - that's what the whole stash-and-preference-submittal thing is for. I'm going to do my best based on the info that everyone has given me to hook people up with their first choice of kit, but in a build this large it MAY not pan out (but I'm hoping it does).

So hopefully everyone is willing to give me a little leeway when it comes down to decision time. Maybe even come to some sort of agreement amongst yourselves when 2 (or more?) really have their heart set on one certain variant. Also, when only one or two people have volunteered a certain variant, I'm going to have to go with them (see the /8 and /5 so far) in order to try to fill up all of the available slots.

Obviously, the more kits someone has in their stash will help, but on the flip side, someone with nothing in their stash - and a willingness to build whatever - will help out a lot as well...i.e., "any DML" or "any D variant". Hehhehehe. Laugh [(-D]

Don't worry fellas, we'll make it work out. Cool [8D]

Scott - give me an excuse to build that PaK 43, and I will. Wink [;)]

is that the plain Hanomag (no rockets), like Tamiya #35020? I can do that one, since its straight forward and Tamiya-fit, that way Scott can do the Kanonwagon /9  :)

I need a few more Tamiyas under my belt before I try and tame the Dragon ;)
