Hermes - what a killer post...don't know where you find all this info, but you are the God Of All Things 251!!! Bow [bow] Hopefully this will either get Ps1scw to do his telephone variant, or get me to try something off-the-wall. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Well I am insane enough to join in this GB.  I have a dragon 251/1 stuka.  I am willing to buy/build one of the following.  251/16, 251/17 luftwaffe, 251/22, 251/21.  Really have no preferance on which one to build.

Sorry just read the rest of the posting.  Looks like all the ones above are spoken for.  If I can find picks of the 2 with the mortor I would consider doing that one.

Sorry again,  I might also be able to build the 23 if I can find the aftermarket kit to give me the gun turret.

Hi Moose,

There is an Aber kit: 35A33;  Turret for SdKfz 234/1 140/1 251/23 250/9 which should cover the PE aspects of the turret. But from the picture at the Historex website, it appears that it does not cover all the parts required for the whole turret.

Moose421 - glad to have you! If you're willing to try one of the variants that will require some scratchbuilding - see one page back for a listing, as well as a TON of helpful pics from Hermes - we can definitely accomodate...and it does appear that Hobbybuy has a /23 in stock if you want to snap that up! Let me know what you're willing to do and I can add you to the roster. Smile [:)]

*Note - Hermes also supplied some photos of the instructions provided with his /2 CH kit a few pages back - take a look at those as well.

Any time. It is supposed to be a very good model. I think they combine the best components of different models and come up with these limited special versions. You will have to lets us know what you think when it arrives. Good luck with it.Thumbs Up [tup]

I have just added the tam 251 Ausf d Stuka Zu Fuss to my collection though i guess there are plenty of tose around. I am like you dupes in that i would like to build one of evry 251 variant, just hope i live long enough.

I have just found out this week that i am off to Afghan at the end of Oct for 3 months. It shouldn't be a problem as the build runs till June, and hopefully i can get alot done before i go. But just thought i would let you know i might be running behind a bit once it starts.

Wow, Bish, that sucks! Yuck [yuck]

Are you guaranteed to be back in 3 months? And is there any way you can build while you're there (I'm guessing no)? Would love to get some in-the-field WIP pics...heh.

I second the motion for getting as much done as you can before the end of October! Big Smile [:D]

Moose - sounds good. I'll update your preferences and stash. Wink [;)]

Everyone else - four weeks until the official kit assignments come out! If you happen to know anyone else who'd be interested in some of the scratchbuilding-required variants (or if you are!), let me know. Big Smile [:D]

Hey guys, first I just wanted to say Happy Independence Day to everyone!  Unfortunately I need to get some independence from Censored [censored] work as I'm sitting at my desk on July 4th!!  Silly boss told me to come in even though I have absolutely nothing to do today, almost all the office staff is off!!Grumpy [|(]  So I decided to spend all morning on the forums!!Mischief [:-,]

Second, I feel like such a dufus!!Dunce [D)].  I was cleaning up my books and mags yesterday and found this in a stack......

I totally forgot I had this magazine; its been several months since I read it!!  They have a great build article on the AFV Club Sd. Kfz 251 "Uhu" AND an accompanying article on the real thing with a load of walkaround and interior photos!!  YIPPEE!!  Dupes, maybe I was destined to build this version!!Make a Toast [#toast]

Have a great holiday all!!Party [party]

Well, it wasn't exactly forced on me. I got asked if i wanted to go as a place came up on the team, and i said yes straight away as i haven't done Afghan yet, so i ain't complaining about going.

The unit i am with only do 3 months, but even 6 would take me to end of April, giving me another month. As for building out there, i wish. I wouldn't have enough room to put it all and it would only get smashed anyway. I am pretty sure i can have the vehicle done in plenty of time, even if the dio has to wait a bit. But i will keep in touch while out tehre and see how its coming on.

Buffle - how do you like AFV Modeller? I've never had a chance to check that mag out...would certainly be very interested to see at the least that issue with the /20. Glad you're fired up! Big Smile [:D]

Bish - so long as you think you'll be able to bang it out a 251 in your pre/post deployment time, we'll keep you around. Wink [;)] Careful out there, man.

Everybody else (with the exception of drugged-up Lufty) seems to be getting pretty excited to build as well. I like it! I see great things coming out of this GB! Bow [bow]

dupes, I love AFV Modeller magazine.  Its published bimonthly over on that big island in the Atlantic off the coast of France, so they speak and write pretty good English!!Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]  The mag is made on high quality paper, the articles include a lot of advanced techniques like modifications, conversions, and dioramas, and cover all aspects of AFVs and artillery.  MUCH LESS advertising than other mags, GREAT photos, lots of walkaround photos, and there's a good mix of modern and older vehicles.  There's also a decent size section in the rear covering new releases.  The only downside is the cost....usually about $17.50 USD.  Overall not bad from a country that drives on the wrong side of the road!!Laugh [(-D]

If you want I can scan the article and PM it to you.  I just have to set up my scanner as I stored it in the closet from non-use!!

bufflehead I am glad you are able to understand our odd version of the language. And we may be on the wrong side of the road, but that means we are on the RIGHT side of the car Big Smile [:D]

I have never actually seen that mag, will have to keep my eyes open. But i have just bought that very 251, and its my first AFV kit. And i must say i am quiet impressed. I think in future i might go for the AFV version instead of the DML. It looks just as good and seems to work out cheaper.

Hey Bish, I think I'll just confuse you a little more.  I use to race dirt track and we would turn right to go in a left handed corner.  Nothing like looking out the right front corner to see where we were going.

But I will be checking out that AFV mag on the uhu.  I might not be building one for this GB but it has caught my attention and I might just do one for fun.

Hey guys! The wait on this one is killing me.

Have a question, on the /17 Command Variant, the structure that goes over the top of the open rear section, i'm guessing that this is used to put a tarp over?

I think its the frame antenna, similar to that on some /6 versions.

Ouch! $17.50 an issue, huh? Maybe I can find some back issues on sale at Squadron or something. If you'd be willing to scan in that Uhu article, I'd certainly take a look at it. Wink [;)]

Josh - that's definitely an antenna frame. Although I do think I've seen pics of tarps draped over said frame. Let me see what I can find. Thumbs Up [tup]

I couldn't quite tell, but it looks like it has a price tag of 6pond, which works out about $12. I guess the rest is shipping. Thats about the normal price for most magazines over here. Compared to FSM, alot more expensive. I got just my 10 issue subscription for $50, which includes postage. You yanks don't know how lucky you have it. If i told you the price of petrol (sorry, gas) you would ahve kittens Big Smile [:D]

I was pretty amazed when I realized one day that the prices in the emails I get from Hannant's aren't in dollars but POUNDS. You guys get ripped on prices! I can't believe how much model kits and supplies cost over there! Taped Shut [XX]

Actually, an FSM subscription over here is about $40, so not too different on that front. However, try to get Tamiya Model Mag - I think it's $120 to get it shipped over here from the U.K.?
