Sorry to hear about your mother, dupes.  My family and I pray for her speedy recovery and goo health.

As for me, I have been involved in another project.  But that is wrapping up and then back to my /23.  The plan for that is to be OTB.  It will be muddy, I figure a recon vehicle would be that way.  Nice and simple way to get back into the grove.

The other project is a R/C combat warship.  WOW it was more work than I thought.

Also the unemployment depression is long over and I am getting bored.

till next time

Ok, finally catching up in here... had to close my ship yard/factory/hangar (aka basement man cave) due to a leaking water tank. Always fun!  New (tankless) water heater in place, some minor repair work in progress, builds will resume in a week or so...  Some great stuff going on in here!

White_R34 - I always admire your scratchbuilding abilities... thanks again for taking the time to explain your techniques!

Boyd - Great progress and thanks for the detailed WIP and fit issues... I also have a AFV kit, we will see how it goes!

Ernest -  Looks good.. great idea about the lead weights, works for a/c  tailsitters, why not h/t ?

Steve - Glad you got the book! I have another couple books on 251s, may scan some plates once I have time and basement dries out lol

My own build is still schedule to start in April, aim to clear my bench of GBs during spring break!

PS - Dupes, good luck with your Mom and best wishes.

Awww NUTS!!  I kept reminding myself and reminding myself to NOT attach the front running gear until AFTER I had test fitted the road wheels and tracks, but did I remember to do that?  NO!  I'll probably have the exact same problem that you did, bufflehead...

By the way, how do you like the AFV Club kit?

well it BEGS to be put on a base with some groundwork!Wink [;)]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Maybe not. I can get the road wheels and front end started also the tracks.

Dupes gave me a heads up on this a little while back but I didnt realize that it included the parts for the gun also and thats why I didnt look more onto it. Now I hope I can find someone who has it in stock.

Ye, i see that one comes with a PE shield for the gun. The set for the AFV kit only has a few gun parts. I know the dragon set is still availible in the UK so you should be able to find it.

dupes - Didn't you ask me somewhere, recently, if I was coming up to Maine any time soon?  I coulda sworn I saw it, but now I can't find it to reply...

The short answer is yes.  My dad is doing OK (got some in home 'care' for him - someone who will pop in a couple times each week), but we still have a lot to do to really get him squared away.  I'm thinking one of the middle weekends in March.  If you want to try to link up or something, shoot me a PM.

By the way, I just went on a weeklong mini-spending spree on E-Bay.  Two scores that I am particularly pleased about (since they apply to this GB):

Got the AFV 251/1 D with Pak 40

And the DML 251/21 'Drilling'

(Plus a PE set for my Hummel...)

All for less than $60.00 delivered.

Can't complain too much about that, right?

Ooooh, good scores! Two notes - the 251/21 position is currently open, as Russamys had to back out...feel like doing a second 251 Boyd? Also, I did the PE set for the Hornisse - I'm assuming that the Hummel version is going to be equally "comprehensive"! Mischief [:-,]

Will not be around the weekend of the 14th/15th, but any other time in March I'd be available - have a spare bedroom you (or you and the wife?) could crash in. That, or I can make a big pot of coffee, and you can spend the night with my stash...!!! Laugh [(-D]

Yeah, I'm pretty pleased with my purchases.  I'm interested to see the AFV kit.  I really do have mixed emotions about the /4 I am building - lots of minor issues.  Nothing overwhelming, but definately time consuming.

I 'might' be interested in the /21, the only problem is, I think I'd have to back out of another GB (unless you'd consider giving me an extension... Whistling [:-^]).  You know me, I'm not the fastest builder and I still have 1000 roadwheels and IMS-3 to do, so...

As far as the Hummel PE - I just got the ammo boxes, not the big monster super-PE set like what I think you got for the Hornisse...

Man, a night with your stash....  you really know how to tempt a guy....  maybe I could bring some stuff and we might do some 'swapping'... Burger [BG]

dupes: I showed my son the 251/21 in the "251 in Action" book but he was distracted...he was playing "Call of Duty 4" on the PC...Gotta love that!  He's really been interested in my work on the Stuka Zu Fuss and watches me frequently.  I think If I could score the kit for him and surprise him with it I he'd go for it...that would be cool...Dad and Son GB participants.  Anyone got a 21 available?, PM me!
