Guy,

Here are some links that might help you with radio configuration and wiring.  I've got one or two more links on my office account, so I'll try to remember to post those as well early next week.

First, pics of Fu5, Fu7 and Fu8 radios

http://www.tigertank-h-e-181.com/21_Radio_Equipment_.htm

 Next, some discussion about wiring and conections that may be of help;

http://halbketten.forumotion.com/sdkfz251-mtlschutzenpanzerwagen-f8/spw-radio-connections-t248.htm

 finally, a link to a collector of German radio equipment with lots of info and pics;

http://www.laud.no/ww2/

Hope this helps.

 Don

Edit:  Oops, forgot a link.  since sone of the /6 had enigma, you might be interested in this...

Hi Moose 421,

I'd be interested in the ausf. D/7 photo if you have the chance.

Would also be keen to view any photos anyone has of the ausf D/7 used in the 'Battle of the Bulge' in December 1944...?

Cheers, Bryan

Kim,

If you get a chance, scan some of the /18 photos.  Probably a long shot but are there any shots of the inside of the /18 in the book?  Thanks.

bbrownii  No problem, I'll post them later today.  Still have to get the scanner.  Just looked up the /4, it has 3 pictures of the ausf a.  No inside shots or plates.

Hey Kim,

I know speaking for myself, I'd like to see what it shows for the /4.  Post it here or pm me, whichever is easiest for you.

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up [tup]

Hey guys,  I found a good book of the 251 series.  It's the SdKfz 251 vol. I/II Tank Powwer vol. LVII.  It has some great photos and color plates.  It shows a pic of the /12 which is the same as the one in the squadron book.  Also has two pictures of the /15 in the hitlerjugend, Beglium of 1944.  A couple of interesting pictures of rocket stowage for the stuka version as well.

Also I found it has a picture of a /3 armed with a 2.8cm AT rifle.

dupes  This may interest you as well.  If I remember right you are doing the /2.  I has a picture of the riveted version and two color plates of the /2.  One is a c version in Stalingrad with vehicle id number and markings.  White washed as well.  The other is of the 13th panzer division during the summer of 43' again a c version.

hermesminatures  This book has a four plates of the /8 as well.  No new photos I think that you don't have.  It has one that has a water tank mounted on the right outside of the vehicle though. One of the plates has vehicle id numbers at Kursk during July 43' ausf d.  Odd thing is the plate shows whitewash.  Another is one from the 4th panzer division winter of 43-44' ausf d. Last one is from LAH march of 43 with a faded whitewash ausf c. Found one more of a whitewashed d from das Reich march of 43'

Other plates are as follows:

/4 A version hungary 45'

/6 A version 2nd panzer division June 40'

/1 B version DAK autumn 41'

a couple of c version /1, another /6 c, a couple of /3 c versions

a couple of d versions /1,  a couple of ausf d /7,  /10 ausf c,  /11 ausf d,  /13 ausf b

/14 ausf d,  /14 ausf d,  /14 ausf d, /16 ausf c,  /16 ausf c,  /16 ausf d, /16 ausf d, 2- /17 ausf c, 2-/17 ausf d with the odd turret, /18 ausf c,  /18 ausf b,  2- /21 ausf d,  3- /22 ausf d

I am going to try to grab a scanner, if anyone would like me to try to get a copy of the plate for you I can try.

Hope this helps some of you.

Oh, I'm sure it will. Wink [;)] Heck, we might even add a few more pages before it starts!

Lufty - nice 'track. Your skillz have definitely improved in the interim! (Those decals could use some setting solution Laugh [(-D]) Can't wait to see how you crank out that /6. Cool [8D]

For those of you paying attention, yes, it's 1:26 a.m., I just got to the hotel here in VA Beach (flight delays alllllll day). Going to have to cram in a few hours of sleep, then it's off to modeling heaven. Angel [angel]

Alright team, have a good weekend - I'm heading out to Nationals here in a bit after I unload a truckful of cheese. Big Smile [:D] If anyone is looking for any 251-style accessories, let me know - hopefully I can mooch a wireless signal somewhere on Friday or Saturday and check in here.

I'll be sure to take TONS of pics of any 251's that happen to be on the tables! Cool [8D]

Boyd - very interesting. This one stays at St. Joseph's College in Windham for both days, doing different 75 mile loops each day. I also did the Trek Across Maine a couple of times, but the fundraising got to be VERY difficult (I think the minimum is $750 per person now), and while 180 miles seemed colossal to me a few years ago, when I got to the point where I was averaging 240+ a week it just didn't seem so amazing. Wink [;)] Good time though.

WOW, $750??  When I was doing it, the minimum was $300, and that could be a challenge.  But it was a fun ride - I always had a couple of buddies ride it with me and we would just hammer the whole 60 miles so we could hang out and relax.  Definately a good time...

240+ a week... man I wish I could get there someday... maybe when the kids are a little older...

I just got a look at that kit - NICE.  I'm a little jealous.  When I can scrape some cash together, I think that one will have to be added to my stash..

P.S.  Hey, Panzerguy, Happy B-Day!!

Whew!!  Donation done....I thought I was too late!  Good job dupes and great work with the MS Society!  You ROCK!!

BTW....how do you have time for biking AND build your models so fast??

*EDIT*  Hmmm....if you're going 20+ mile an hour for 4 hrs......I think that just answered my question!!!

BTW how'd you do other than getting rained out yesterday?  (sorry if you already posted this info...I'm trying to catch up on a lot of posts)

Other than yesterday, it went spectacularly. Did a good hard 30 mile warmup with three of my teammates on Friday evening, then rocked 85 miles faaaast (20.18mph, I think) on Saturday. Complete stats are available at the URL in my sig. Big Smile [:D]

Dupes,

I did my MS ride up in Maine.  I can't recall exactly where we took off from (Falmouth maybe...) bue we spent the night at the Y-camp in Winthrop, then took a different route back on Sunday.  All in all a good time.  I didn't do another one, however, because I got involved in the ALA's Trek Across Maine and the donations became too much a PITA so I had to give one up.

Alright, the front page is updated to reflect Friday's assignments. I also threw up the "generic" version of the GB badge, anyone who is on the official roster can feel free to snag it until they finish their build and get the personalized version. Thumbs Up [tup]

Hermes - been looking at the CH /2, which appears to be a C model. Do you have any knowledge that would indicate that there were other Ausf.'s of the /2? Like, a D for instance? Also very interested to see what sort of markings they provided you with that kit - I'm hoping that I can recreate them with all of the spare decals in the other DML 251's.

Alright guys, I'm finally back! A bunch of work to do today, but hopefully I can assimilate all the recent info and get caught up. Wink [;)]Thumbs Up [tup]

Couple of things:

GA.modelmaker - I don't remember seeing you post anything here before. If I just missed it, I apologize. You should take a look at the first page of the GB, because it's going to work a bit differently than most. If you still want to get in with one of the remaining variants, let me know. Perhaps you're confusing this with the "Halftrack" GB?

Moose - thanks a ton for your donation. The event was a huge success (assuming we forget about being pretty much rained out on Sunday), our team is currently at $25k+ with donations still coming in. Big Smile [:D] Stats are up on the mycyclinglog website.

Boyd - (and anyone else who still wants to donate) it's not too late! Any amount will be gladly accepted by the MS Society. Where did you do your MS ride? In Maine? Or Connecticut?

Lufty - sorry buddy, still have 2 months to go. I'm sure you'll find something else to build (or several somethings!) in the interim. Laugh [(-D]

Panzerguy - happy birthday! Party [party]
