Yep, I also thought my summer was going to be light enough so I signed up for a handful of GBs... of course, I jinxed myself and now im waaay behind :)  wont be able to start for a few months and will probably only be able to do the Tamiya M1A2 and shelve the grandiose idea of also doing an A-10.

BTW if anyone still looking for a kit, Lucky Models has the Italieri M1 A1 Abrams "Super Kit" w/highly detailed interior in their inventory blow out sale, 33$ USD, usually goes for 3x that amount - Great Models has it on sale for 70$ (MSRP is 93$).

For once Im resisting temptation lol

Anyone have a good interior pic of a 577?  Need to see what's up front near the TC seat, specifically, and the radio set-up.  I remember four of 'em, but it's been too long to remember exactly where they were, other than one in left rear, near the ramp...

Still haven't decided which variant of the Humvee to build, but I got started with some common pe pieces.  From left to right 1-I have no idea, but I've seen it in various pics. 2-radio, 3-transmission cover, and 4-the radio support table.  Almost thought about buying a optivisor, but I lay down til the thought passed.

Thanks, Hans.  It didn't look sturdy enough to serve as step for the roof mounted weapon.

ah don't worry 'bout it Dupes, lol I'm having the same problem with my Bradley, I'll get some pics up soon enough.

I've sprayed mine in camo already but it was kind of a rushed job so I'm going to have to go back over and fix it once I can get to the LHS and get some more paint.

Ok Town my order of one more stock Bradley for the interior set is on it's way and I will start on my scratch building on the day it get's here., the only thing I will need after that kit get's here is the PE set and I will go for that last. Now I'm not going to take up a lot of time showing every little thing like on my first Bradley but I will point out the things that I must change to my my M2A2 in to a M3A3 and it's not much on the exterior. I'll past my first Wip pix soon.

Was over at prime portal looking at the pics from OIF, and it looks like you could do a group build of nothing but Humvees and have no two alike.  Way cool.  Does anyone make a kit of the M117?

Wellllll, I went to take some pics of my now-camoed M113...and come to find that my camera is shot. Looks like the old girl took quite a beating on the way back from Nationals. Going to do some online troubleshooting today to see if there are any easy fixes, but it looks like I may be waiting until I get a new camera to post any pics! Black Eye [B)]

At least I'll be able to show you the finished product. Meh. Sad [:(]

Allllllrighty then, I finally managed to get my camera working long enough to snap a couple of pics (involved prying the self-contained lens out of the housing!) - rest assured I'm shopping around now for a new camera. Heh. Disapprove [V]

Here's where I'm at - sort of cartoonish at this point, just base camo colors. Decals are going on next along with some detail painting, then I can seal it up and start weathering it back to some semblance of reality. Wink [;)]

Hay dupes love the color man!Bow [bow] Ok you guys I just got my number 2 Bradley kit for it's interior set to day and so my work will begin later tonight.

You know that back some-months ago that stock (Acad) Bradley kit use to be only 17.99 and now it's 21.99 RRRRRRR! Well any way I'm goint to get the full Photo-etch set for the Bradley, that has the full Interior, Xterior and Turret detail set. An I myst say that the turret set looks realy good so once I get that in, I will show more of my PE work than my Scratch work. Of onel last thing I found an Image of the drivers set with the hatch open so you can see the plaqcards and labes. Look here.

Ok here's some images any of you can use to make up a funny phrase for.

With my last year of university starting I worked my butt off and got my M1A2 finished for the GB. The Italeri offering built OOB. I chose not to use the decals since they did not appear to be accurate and I just could not afford any aftermarket stuff. Also there were no CIPs in the kit but I checked and there are a few Abrams that didn't have them. Anyway here it is with before and after pics.

I was browsing over my newspaper files and I saw a photo of a Warrior in Iraq. The metal box in the front armor where the oil cans would not fit in the model has very thin sheet metal very unlike the one supplied in the Academy kit so I cut off the front and the sides and replaced it with thin plastic sheet.

Ok.. Day one of M577/M113 Kitbash for M577 Artillery Battery Fire Direction Center diorama.

Engine about 70% done, needs many more hoses and junk strewn about inside.  Not going for a nut-for-nut,bolt-for-bolt reproduction, just want it to look busy in there..

I have to find the "DANGER! MONOXIDE GAS" warning decal for the right-side driver's wall too...

Hey Guys, glad to see alot of progress so far!

Vince- That's one impressive setup of kits you got there! I'm gonna be looking forwad to your build, and sure it's ok for you to post some pics of your previous Bradley if you'd like.

Denis- Great work on your M1A2, looks awesome! I especially like the job you did on the anti-laser coating on the vision ports.

Constructor- Nice scratchbuilding so far on the Warrior.

Hans- Nice work!

Rob- No problem, I'll update the list.

Guys I was wondering if you could help me please, I am just about to start on the Tamiya USMC M60A1 with ERA from ODS and I have a question on color.

Can someone tell me what would be the best Gunze, Vallejo or Tamiya color for a Desert Tan M60?  I have done a bit of hunting around but have so far drawn a blank as to which shade would be best.

Btw I would love to join this build as I am also just starting off a Tamiya USMC M1A1HA from OIF but don't want to commit to yet another GB that I won't finish.  If it's ok with you I might see how the old enthusiasm level is going in a couple of weeks.

Cheers

darson. if i am not mistaken they used  sand  fs 33531 and also if you put this in the armor section you may get more feedback on it escipally from heavyarty aka gino. you do know to that tank was used in ods so why not join the gb with it?

townsy  thanks for doing th change for me. i also got the kit in todays mail. when i got home from work i started on it about 30 minutes later. and i have steps 1 thru 4 done all ready.  i should have paint on this by sunday if it all goes together with out any problems and so far it has.

For ODS, they used a differentsand color. Testors and Polly Scale make the proper shade. It was supposedly a locally produced color that was used to repaint equipment when it arrived in theater. I have seen photos of USMC M60s arriving in country in the desert MERDC scheme (pre positioned equipment) and the reactive armor was in either green or sand solid.

dupes - looks good! any luck with the camera?

Denis - very nice job, crisp construction. are you going to weather it justa  bit? maybe some silver drybrushing along the teeth where it meets the track?

darson - I have this piece of info written down from another thread:

"modern CARC sand = FS 33531 = Model master Sand 1706"

not sure now if this is correct for ODS? OIF?

JMart & Townsy - Thanks for the compliments. I might weather and tweak the tank slightly like the drive sprocket but I think I will keep it a clean build. I recieved a few suggestions over in the armour forum that I will probably try. I'll post more pics if and when I do so.
