Thanks, Hans.  It didn't look sturdy enough to serve as step for the roof mounted weapon.

Still haven't decided which variant of the Humvee to build, but I got started with some common pe pieces.  From left to right 1-I have no idea, but I've seen it in various pics. 2-radio, 3-transmission cover, and 4-the radio support table.  Almost thought about buying a optivisor, but I lay down til the thought passed.

Yep, I also thought my summer was going to be light enough so I signed up for a handful of GBs... of course, I jinxed myself and now im waaay behind :)  wont be able to start for a few months and will probably only be able to do the Tamiya M1A2 and shelve the grandiose idea of also doing an A-10.

BTW if anyone still looking for a kit, Lucky Models has the Italieri M1 A1 Abrams "Super Kit" w/highly detailed interior in their inventory blow out sale, 33$ USD, usually goes for 3x that amount - Great Models has it on sale for 70$ (MSRP is 93$).

Life has been a bit hectic over the last 3 weeks and modelling was put on hold for awhile.

Also going to Italy next week for 2.5 weeks of well deserved vacation time.

Dupes:  I'll put you down for the M113, and I'm assuming it's 1/35, but who's the manufacturer? And thanks, I didn't realise me and SMJ were on the same page till I just got my copy today, but it is pretty cool.

Rob: The GB goes till February 28th of next year, but if you can't get both builds done for this GB don't worry about it. Also, I can add your Sherman Family GB badge to your slideshow if you would like.

I think Friulmodel makes a set of M113 family replacement tracks too.

As for me, I've gotten most of the basic construction done on the Bradley and I've sprayed the horizontal surfaces in textured spray paint to simulate the anti-slip. Should have some pics up in about a week.

Good luck at the Nationals if you in it. An to Town hay man I have bean looking in all the rong places for the items I asked about. There not decals as I though there PE parts called and your go to love this: Color photo-etched Placards Detail Set for what ever kit. PE who would have known I'm a nut on the site were I do all my shopping and I have seen these before and did not take the time to read up on them before asking you all about them. Well now that I truly see just what I need I must find some sets for my M113 and my Bradley projects. I'm looking through my Catalog and once I find some more set's I will post them.

That's all I have from Sq but I will keep looking around the net to see what I can dig up. An once I get more links on this subject I will post what I find. Oh one think I must point out is if any of you know what the right Placards should be in your project you may be able to use some from more that one set to use you in your projects interior. An if any one want's to add to this search please feel free to do so.

Oh and one last thing I got my AFV tracks in to day, next the interior and Full PE set. Then I will post all the items and then the work will start.

Things are moving along quite nicely on the M113, but taking a short hiatus for the weekend - I'm off to Nationals! Maybe I can find some good builds to use as references.

Oh Townsy What I think I'm trying to say if not just warning labels but labels that tell you how to operate what ever the equipment is and some tell you that the area is a high voltage spot. There are some that are for specs of the vehicle, Vehicles code numbers ect. If I can find a link I can make my own decals. I have white decal paper and I have used them before.

Townsy - decided to do the M113 I have kicking around with OIF markings. I've wanted to do something in NATO 3-tone and dust it up, so this is my opportunity, it looks like! Started assembly last night - will post a pic or two when it gets a bit closer to paint. Was hoping to bang this one out in some sort of marathon build sessions, but I think that Nationals is going to get in the way. Heh.

Oh, btw, nice job on your Leopard 2! You and SMJ on the same page of the reader gallery...pretty nifty! Just picked that kit up myself, hoping to round out my collection of the big country's modern MBT's - looks like I just need a Merkava II.

Count me in.  I got a whole bunch (all but two of the releases) of Dragon's 1/72 Humvee kits that'll work for this build.  Don't know which variant(s) I'll build.  I'll surprise myself.  Dupes, Hellcat Man, glad to see ya'll over here.

Ok... Upon the (official) opening of the M577, I noticed that the interior of the track is non existant.  So my first mission is now gutting an old M-113 I've been toting around for about 20 years and getting it adapted to the 577.  Since the M113 also has the engine, I'll be adding that as well, so I guess this will be a kitbash of Tamiya's M577 and M113.  And there's another plus: The M113 hulk will now become an M548 down the road...

I've had the M577 kit open for days... Then spent two days hunting down pictures on the 'net..

Now, bout the anniversary date... 1 Aug 90, Ft Hood, Texas... My unit had just come out of the field after a 15-day FTX, and me and the Smoke were sittin' on a tent pad in North Fort, just cleaning our weapons and battle-rattle and firin' the feces about the Iraqi troop build-up on the Kuwaiti border we'd been getting snippets of info about...  We both agreed that ol' Saddam wasn't doing it to stretch his army's legs, and that Kuwait was in for a bit of scrap.  It wasn't in our mind-set that it'd be a full-scale invasion yet, but we figured that there was no way that there wouldn't be some cross-border activity, probes and such...  Next day, when we heard the feces had struck the breeze-generator, we both KNEW we were gonna be leaving the States soon...

Turns out it was actually 2 months before we deployed OCONUS to S.A., but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out why anyone was surprised... Especially those speed bumps in the 82nd...

Oh man, it IS, isn't it? August REALLY snuck up on me...wow.

Looks like I'll be taking something with me this weekend to get a start on then. Hmmm...

Hay Townsy once I get my new bradley done for this GB I want to try to totle scratch build a M1117 Guardian ASV. I'll let you know just before I start on it if I think I can do it or not as there are no resin kits out there for it. But I have a lot of photos of them from the company here in Louisianaand in Iraq.. If I can get it done or just started it in this GB, I'm not going to try and do an interior I'm only going to try to get the body done right. Now if I can only find some tires like the ones on the ASV. Oh and if any of you are going to tell me use the Humvee wheels and tires there are not as tall as the ASV and the LAV tires don't have the right tred but the wheels may pass. As you can see I'm still working and thinking on this and there is one othere flat faced truck that I'm going to try and build also it's called the LSAC I dont have the numbers of this truck yet. It looks like it was or are made from the M1078 Standard Cargo LMTV Truck.

The full name and numbers of the truck is: M1078/1078A1 LMTV 2 1/2 Ton 4x4 (Armored) Cargo Truck or LSAC

But any way I will be back with a hole host of images of vehicles that look realy cool from over there in Iraq.

Yea sorry Constructor, I can't really find any pics of an Iraq Warrior from above, I do know however that the front of the large right side bin was covered in the ERA sections that cover the side skirts, as for there being any sort of cover on top, I'm not sure.

You could try posting a thread in Armor and see if anybody there knows?

Townsy, the right side mesh bin in your first picture is what I mean. I think (according to Terry), the mesh was replaced with a solid metal siding but what I'm not sure of is if they installed a cover as well. I'm not sure about the left side bin because at the left rear side of the turret, above the tool rack there is also a small bin. Maybe Terry Ashley can enlighten us with this.

And this pic suggests a totally different style in General, as this is an Iraq vehicle though, I would assume this is correct, unfortunately though I can't find any pics of the "large right side bin" on an Iraq vehicle as it is obscurred by the ERA.
