1/16th Trumpeter T34/76 Update Pg3. Dec 2

Thaanks every body. Tread your right about the Disastermaster, I've been following his excellent post and, well .... stunning... Ive saved all his pics and will be calling them a huge influence on the way my 34 gets its outer finish.

Good idea on comparing the two builds, maybe alot of people don't realise that these two models are practically brothers concieved at the same time, mine is just a late bloomer.

Treads pics were used to help me placing a lot of fighting compartment pipes. thats about where the similarities between an 85 and 76 end. Ammo  is different. side walls, floor layout, I think Tread will agree that they are two different beasts and to do  a 76 right from the Trumpeter kit involves a lot more cutting. Both our engine compartments are about the same, treads is cleaner, but both were built in unison.

Well, speaking for myself, (thanks) I take that as a REAL compliment. I'm pretty sure Terry will see it the same way too.

the new photos are just great!---It is nice to see you breathing new life into this build----your style of work reminds me of the way Disaster Master does his builds-- I hope both of you guys view that as a compliment to each other,as it is meant to be--upon review, I sometimes find my work to be stark and clinical---but variation in style and composition is what makes this hobby cool--I look forward to the day you may be posting 'finished' pictures, although I realize that is many months to come-- keep it up, I am posting a couple of pics that you just put up with a couple of mine, just to see the interesting styles of interpretation--I hope to some time rerpresent my builds with all the wear and tear that you guys are able to do-( but then I my lose my own little niche--lol)--and to you folks viewing, you will see some technical differences as Terry's is a T-34/76, while mine is a T-34/85--the interior is actually quite different. yer pal tread

Well Tacobuff to tell the truth the paint I'm using is Vallejo acrylics and gamesworkshop acrylics. they do a great set of base coats which go on with one coat over autoprimer.

Hi, Guys, got some more pics taken today.

Neither the engine or firewall are fixed yet. There is simply loads of piping for the front of the engine to go and the electrical system needs attention. The floor is at a very early stage of painting. I want to give the impression that dirt has fallen through the gaps in between the ammo boxes.

Do you and Tread have 1:16 M16 Half tracks? I'll put mine down until you guys start. I got a bunch of problems.

Terry you know you are scaring me.  That's all some of the sickest stuff I have ever seen.  Your execution of detail is astounding.  You commitment to patience is overwheleming.

Treadwell wont like what I am about to say since he has been after me to start mine, but you have put me off it for a while.  Not in a bad way though. After seeing treads T-34/85 and Sherman and now this... I want to make a good showing. I know I don't have all the skills needed (yet...goal has been set) to produce that caliber of work.  More though I don't have that kind of patience.  (again... yet)

Please keep posting your amazing progress.

And Tread... I WILL start it one day DM... what's the coordinates of that rock so I can set it in my GPS.  Make room under there boys, I got a big ol' butt and I am comin' in.

Your T-34/76  has sure come a long way my bro!-- the pics are just beautiful. I still have all the pics from our correspondence from way back when-- I thought maybe you gave up on it (with all the great pics of your 1/35 builds being posted!!)-it does my heart good to see you back at it!!-- thanks for the nice comments on my builds, I really appreciate the plugs!!-the 2 of us have been through alot with these builds and I really enjoyed sharing back and forth--we should stay in touch more often.   I am glad you saw the pics of my Sherman--keep the pics comming-- I enjoy every one of them--your comrade, tread

Terry, like everyine else, I run out of superlatives when trying to describe mye awe at this incredible build!

Just the most amazing commitment to excellence that I can recall! 

Can you give us some sense of scale in your next photo update? Maybe post a pic of some of pieces next to something recognizable in 1/35?

I'm sincerely curious about the sheer size of this thing?

hey, sfcmac, yeah I worked on tons of other stuff. I love doing science fiction models.

I only work on models about three nights a week, probably no more than about 25 hours a week. I seem to be developing Repetitive strain injuries in the arms,and some form of arthritis in some old injuries in the fingers. I did buy the trumpeteer M16 half track but I am not touching it until this is finished.

While working on this I did have an awful lot of help from the good brother Treadwell. His T34/85 has blown some major awards in his direction.

These are older shots of the scratch built fuel cells and batteries, the batteries came in at about 240 pieces. THey too a few days to build.

That's it I quit !!!!! why should I build anything /

 It looks like photo's of the real thing,unbelievable,FSM should do a complete gallery and article on this one when you finish.

The gun.................. I bought the brass bolts for the mantlet, cost a bundle, the screws on the gun are actual watch screws.... nearly killed me drilling theh pilot holes and placing them in. They are really tiny.......
